Son of Death (30k Mortarion Quest)

[X] The Dauntless Host. Every man and woman who called themselves Death Guard will have a place by his side, if they wish to claim it.

[X] A Grim Reprise. Mortarion shall hold his own funeral, and that of all who follow him. Barbarus shall mourn the deaths of those who go to the stars, but they shall also be proud, for it will be a worthy end indeed.

[X] Let the Past Bear Fruit: No ceremonies, no. No grand speeches. But before each warrior leaves, they plant a tree as a memory, and take a seed of the same to bring with them. Lest they forget their past.

We going for symbolic trust of those Mortarion knows for a fact will never betray him and the rather fun imagery of any future death guard recruits literally leaving their community via a funeral to go join Grim Morty up in space in the forever war.

I like the idea of those Barbarans rising to the challenge in becoming space marines, creating a voluntary and proud idea that they go to do something good and righteous, as Mortarion and the original Death Guard did all those years ago.

[X] Write in - A Fond Farewell. Mortartion shall hold his own wake, and that of all who follow him. Better that Barbarus focus on celebrating the lives of it's sons and daughters who leave with him rather than their loss.

I was thinking rather than a grim funeral perhaps a Harvest Festival?
Something like this? A wake rather than a funeral. Mortarion still gets to be broody and acknowledge that they're all probably going to die on Papa E's galactic crusade, but they at least get to have one last happy memory with their loved ones before they go, possibly forever.

Putting this in for now, but definitely would be interested in a write-in.

Last quest was about swarm tactics. Let's try singular quality.

I feel like anything more than the unbroken few requires some form of societal acknowledgement and cultural transmission, so that we're not just robbing Barbarus of all its best warriors and huge chunks of its leadership just as its getting the massive intrusion of the Imperium and then not setting up any kind of hand-off to ease the process. Plus the whole Tsarist Russia thing of pre-mourning military service as a living death is just metal as hell.

I feel like something that provides hope, something with the terraforming... let Mortarion share what he has done, the future he is trying to build. Let his people see that he cares.

How about this?
[X]The Emperor has promised a thousand-thousand minds and a million hands to aid in cleansing your world of corruption. Let him prove his words with deeds, and let Barbarus see the fruits of your labor, the hope for a world unscathed by the past.

I think these two work best together because... the seven are probably going to die in the Implantation process. They're adults. Unless Big E breaks out the cell-surgery, everyone (but Typhon) missed the window. So going for the Doom Eagles approach is very appropriate, because these men are probably going to bite it on an operating table.

Now if we take the whole Death Guard, I'd be more in favor of a happier celebration.

[X] A Thief in the Night. There will be no grand ceremony, no pointless festivities or flowery speeches. Let his deeds be his legacy, nothing more or less.

We have seen who stood true and just how fickle the rest is.

Sounds good.

I have a vague idea for a write in that I can't condense into one line, yet. I feel like he should bring something with him, something important, and leave something in exchange, to form a connection with Barbarus. I'm just not sure what.
I like this! And it kind of echoes the tags that were mentioned in update 1.
