You know the worst part of this is that you weren't in danger? We wanted to use you as bait to rescue the old man, but we also planed on keeping you alive to honor our promise. Guess telling you that might have saved some trouble... You can come back from this, you know? It's still Capone in control in there, and I'll admit that I didn't like the guy that much, but he didn't deserve this. If you stay like this you'll eat and eat and eat till everything's gone and you die, alone and cold. You want to go out like that?
It's important to note that Capone's fears, and what made him Distort, were about more than just being handed over. He also felt like he was doomed in the long term too, as his setup in Lungmen crashed down around him. Pretty sure he was thinking about it while he was tied up in the bar.

Eternal Persistence's philosophy is that of a mindless animal's concerned only with survival, and it reminds me of this analysis on the themes of "Girls' Last Tour".

The point of the video is the perfect counter-argument to that philosophy.

"Living to live is pointless. A 1,000 years of tedium can't hold a candle to 1 of excitement."

There is a difference between survival and living. The former is simply concerned with the continued maintenance of bodily functions, while the latter is about making sure that you make experiences you'd look back on fondly once the curtains close, experiences that make you go "Yeah, I lived a good life."

Capone wants to survive, but the way E.P. wants to go about it is no way to live.

I'd try to put this into a vote, but my brain ain't working at the moment. :V

I was thinking mostly the same thing, so I might as well give it a try.

-[X] Do you really believe that eating away your problems is a proper way to live your life? You are wrong to think that it would do anything but lead to your own doom, is persisting as a creature only capable of feeling hunger and emptiness truly a way to survive? To live? No, by sacrificing your ability to truly live what use is your persistence…You know, I don't really hate you for your desire to survive, if anything I pity you as sooner or later your gluttonous ways will catch up to you, signalling your inevitable downfall, all your efforts to survive will be in vain. I hope you can understand what I am saying, but I suppose whatever happens next is your own choice, will you continue your desperate struggle or will you try and truly live again.
--[X] If he shows a clear desire to continue his beastial gluttony attempt to end him then and there, if not just observe and attempt to catch your breath.

I hope this is a good enough plan. I kinda want to see if he is able to somehow able to revert his distortion with talk-no-jutsu lol.

A bit too direct I think. Capone's emotionally vulnerable, so using something from his memories would be more effective at getting him to give up.

-[X] "Is this really how you want to go Capone? Like some sort of starved, wild animal that just eats, shits, and sleeps until it can't anymore? That isn't a way to live, not when it's the same drive that convinced a father that two kids should kill a grown man."

We should draw parallels between E.P.'s philosophy, and what Capone's father had him and Gambino do during their childhood, something Capone absolutely loathes to this day. After all, criminal organizations are a lot like E.P. in a way, prioritizing the continued existence of the Family above the well-being of the people who actually make up said Family.

That should hopefully help him realize how terrible this philosophy actually is since he's also its victim.

Whoo boy. Well, the Rat King showed up, so what we do here is probably gonna be under a lot of scrutiny. Either way, I think we have a decent chance at solving it here and now- If Distortion Detective is anything to go by, there's a "percussive therapy" part to solving a Distortion (beating the crap out of it) followed by emotional logistics to eliminate the root cause. Hell, someone even manifested EGO that way. Right now we've given the Eternal Persistence enough pause- we can take advantage of its mental state now.

Sure is a good thing we're in control of a guy who specializes in unification of viewpoints and mental states, has experiences in Distortions (debatably even as members of Turb Office depending on how you interpret Memento), and has a pretty good amount of experience in herding cats in a general direction, eh?
