The immediate vibe I got was that anywhere between every one in ten to one in three students is actually a Yokai, and that this is a measure set up to help them hide in plain sight.

It gives kudos to the people who trained the MC, kudos to his brother, and explicitly gives the greatest portion of the kudos to the entire school for standing up and defending the school, and none of this tournament stuff would be possible without them.
I can understand a little bit of confusion; that's a hazard of shorthand summaries intended to give the QM space and leeway to modify it to better fit the character.
I can't understand making a claim that appears factually false when the evidence of your falsity is one page over.
I still don't agree with LinkOnScepter on that previous issue, but I think I now better empathize with him/her because I imagine this was his/her state of mind when (s)he and I disagreed earlier. After a few minutes of reading this I'm still going "nani the fuck?"

Because that part was never the issue, it was the part before it, moralizing and antagonizing intentionally the rest of the student populace. And the part you've emphasized says nothing about what Hayato is going to do in the tournament, it is still about thanking those who made Hayato getting to be participant, which is also added more like and afterthought, the antagonizing coming of as the main part. LoS was going to fuse the two winning options anyway, and he did a better job than the write-in offered.
Also, it is considered bad manners to try to restart an old argument that was already over, especially now that the scene has passed.
It's about the write-in, how I called it antagonizing to the student populace, only having the thanks coming of as an afterthought and not saying anything about Hayato crushing the opposition in the tournament. Which is extra funny since the write in was born from a joke by Thozmp, which was a joke reacting to a joke I made.

We had an argument about whether or not some readers were paranoid. Not really worth revisiting, since you and I settled it on essentially agreeable if not amicable terms.

From what I understand, tournament arcs tend to end in one of two ways: Either all the battle junkies involved wind up lifelong friends afterwards, or it gets horribly, horribly derailed by some villain. And unfortunately, I don't think those're mutually exclusive.
