[X] Yes
Call me cynical, but I think it's less hiding and more Men Who Stare At Goats. Prospero is a goldmine of Psyker recruits, this is just a step up to grabbing valuable combat experience. They're also gonna have their hands full with keeping up the crusade while also setting up a (or, more realistically, making room in their existing) big covert network to shelter Magnus' sorcerous scholars.
If we ask Russ for help, he's going to either,
a) Go straight to Big E for approval, blowing the whole 'secrecy' thing out of the water,
b) Try to turn up to the battle late enough that we've already killed Kurze, and he can execute us for having gone rogue and attacking 'friendlies'
c) Both.
Russ is hates us. That's not a problem to be worked around or solved - he is our enemy, and is going to try to shank us just because he can.
My thude, stop kidding yourself. Corax didn't approach us asking to bring Konrad to heel, or to 'deal with him' however we could. He approached us specifically to kill Konrad. The dude is a revolutionary out to kill monsters, and Konrad is a monster - that's the start and end of it.
Not sure how I'm going to vote yet, but I will say, going against Malcador at Nikaea and then pivoting back to ally with him against Curze would be very properly Tzeentch-y![]()
[X] No
- [X] Try to persuade Corax to change course
- [X] Build up evidence against Konrad before we go after him, so that we can show it to Dorn, Russ, Malcador, or even the Emperor should they intervene. Start by going to Nostramo and investigating the battle that took place there.
All of these are great points, but I can't shake the feeling that this whole thing is a trap laid by Chaos or someone aligned with it. If I'm wrong, great, we get to finally put an end to Curze's atrocities. But if I'm right…Even if Curze didn't blow up Nostramo, the "mass flaying pits" are an established fact. If anyone cared about evidence, the Imperium has had cause to execute Kurze and his entire Legion for the last century or more. I'm honestly not sure why he's alive, given that he's crossed the line from "useful war criminal" into "deranged liability" a long time ago.
This isn't some grand act of justice. Curze is a mad dog, and we're putting him down before he can bite again.
I am shocked that going to malcador is a good decision on the matter.
