Don't Miss Your Deadline! (Manga Editor Quest)

Adhoc vote count started by zamin on May 10, 2022 at 9:45 AM, finished with 49 posts and 40 votes.

Here's the current tally. I'll be leaving this vote open for another day. Will try to have the next update posted by tomorrow, but if my work gets busy then it'll be pushed back to the weekend at the latest.

[X] Focus more on the post-editing process (Gain +30 Editor Points, 5 Suggestions per turn)

So it's too late to properly argue this point, but +30 editor points is actually more valuable, especially with us getting more manga. +10 Editor points is worth 3~5 popularity on any manga we choose while 2 suggestions is worth 2~3 popularity on the manga (with a max of 4 even with top tier and 100+ rolls best I can tell).

Furthermore:

We want roughly at least 10 points per manga to catch the easy boosts and as a general pool to push things over the minimum threshold.

Also, mechanically, we want to concentrate our suggestions -- 1 suggestion is worth less than the no suggestions reroll. For 2 suggestions, they need the upper thresholds to definitely be worth more than the reroll. At 3 suggestions is where we can assume even with good suggestions will be worth much more than the free reroll.

I was already thinking about the first point (editor points more valuable all else being equal), but I admit I wasn't considering the "no suggestion means reroll, and reroll >1 and about equal with 2 suggestions".

also... well, we've been told we actually get to choose if we lean towards editor points or suggestions thanks to John's action. I kinda prefer to pick the so unlocked option then, and it makes sense here.

Also... we don't know how many points we lose when we do Overtime. It would be nice if it was still only 10 less points, but I doubt it. It's probably half.

Kinda wish I had been able to be active earlier to share this information, but what will be will be. It's possible the GM will leave the vote open a bit longer since it probably won't change what gets written in the next update

it happens. It wouldn't be the first time a last-minute argument changes the results, so no reason to lose hope yet.

You're right, although I'm pretty sure a good number of people won't check back in until the next time our GM triggers an alert. We've already hit 60 votes, so I dunno how many more people there'll are to vote, lol

Additional argument to pick +30 editor points, is both there's always a chance for series that we think already good like current chapter Subaru, so we didn't edit it...

...but most importantly, the suggestions themselves dependant on rolls, like the first chapter of Ramen Ninja, where we fail the idea roll, and gave a malus of -10 to section we attempt to make better.

Alright guys, I'm going to be closing the votes in... let's say 5 hours. That should give me enough time to get home and freshen up a bit before I start writing the next update.

In the meantime, it's time to do this week's Popularity scores. If you haven't seen this before, you can check out how Feedback Mechanics work in the Mechanics informational, but the TLDR is "roll 2d6 + the manga's Popularity Bonus to get the final Popularity score".

I'm going to need three rolls from you guys. As always, please let us know which one you're rolling for before you do the roll. If nobody has rolled within an hour, then I'll do it myself.
  • Space Racer Subaru-kun (Chapter 2): 3 + 3 = 6
  • Our Daughter is Actually a Vampire! (Chapter 2): 6 + 4 = 10
  • My Secret Ninja Sensei Needs to Stop Training Me (Chapter 2): 8 + 0 = 8
Edit: Big thanks to @Shard , @BookMouse and @Neshuakadal for their rolls!

I'll do Space Racer Subaru-kun (Chapter 2): 2d6 + 3

Shard threw 2 6-faced dice. Reason: Space Racer Subaru-kun Total: 3
2 2 1 1

Our Daughter is Actually a Vampire! (Chapter 2): 2d6 + 4

Edit: So, with the +4, that's 14.
