Arise o Youth, Destiny is Yours (No SV, Welcome to the MCU)

I am going to say this, just so that the comedy may come.

Charles is still learning to control his powers to the fine level that we see in first class.

He's doing this partially out of training, and partially out of boardom.
Hah. Now I really want to no-sell it and go off on him for "not being polite about things damn it! nonconsensual Mindreading! Stranger Danger!"

Again, in-character that isn't really seen the same. Like at the moment no one at the time is going to immediately fully understand what something like 'it feels like someone is trying to touch my mind and emotions'. From what it is worded it seems like it feels like someone is curious and trying to communicate with us. This isn't modern times where numerous stories about telepathy are a wide known and popular concept thanks to science fiction and super hero stories being spread out through the world with things like the internet.

In fact I'd call that reasoning outright meta gaming since it's obviously influenced by modern ideas about how telepathy works on top of people knowing who Xavier is.
yeah, but I still don't want to set a bad precedent

Heinrich: "Do you have any idea how rude that was?"

Charles: "I was bored!"
Eric: That's the problem with you children these days, you have no idea how to properly keep yourself busy.

Heinrich: And your saying that, when you and your wife fuck each other for hours at a time, in strange places, in my building on my dime?

Eric: You never said anything?

Heinrich: I'm saying something now! You are contaminating my workplace!

Eric: You aren't using it!

Heinrich: I want to!

I mean in Charles defense it's just natural for him considering it's literally a big part of the power he was born with. Him looking at peoples minds may not be much different than a normal person giving a cursory examination of people they see. On top of that he doesn't really have many people he can tell with Raven pretty much being the only person who knows so he doesn't really have people to explain to him why it would be an issue for them.

To give an example fictional races with telepathy have a different view of things in that regard since for them it's just how they communicate and understand each other. And let's be real, if we were the ones that had that kind of power I can totally see people using numerous justifications for why it's not really that bad with some people being far worse about it.

As for setting a bad precedent don't really get why it's that big a deal. Once he explains the whole telepathy thing we can just go 'Look man, I'm not mad since I'm sure you didn't mean anything bad from it but a lot of people aren't really comfortable with you reading their entire life stories and secrets. How about keep it to surface thoughts okay?' After all IIRC most versions of Charles later do respect privacy.

You aren't the only one seeking to put an end to the Nazis. I cannot agree with your way, but I won't let you do this alone. Others walk the same path too – Germans, Jews. Not all good men, perhaps. But men seeking redemption and revenge. And if nothing else, they can find the hiding rats faster than you or I alone."
If this writevin wins, which can be summariced on You son of a Bitch, I'm in!!!, are we going to see our old Man to join Operation Eir?

He will be taking part in another, domestic operation within Germany, instead of going abroad.

Operation Sitting Eagle.

Finding the last of the Nazi fucks still in Germany.

For a bad precedent you can compare it to someone caressing your forearm. It's weird, not harmful, but it's probably common sense to make them stop. Allowing it would be letting them finish then asking what that was about, while denying it would be interrupting them to ask them why. While you can assume the person has a valid reason and they're just normal, it's not wrong at all to stop it in case of the chance that they are malicious.

It is my belief that what will save Germany won't be through the powerful and authorities, but through the people and through every German who finds it in them to use their strength."

Mangled the message, but main point was that he won't get what he needs through a revenge path, our way would be better. While Hitler died through our bomb, Nazism is more an Ideology than a group at this point, so his options would either result in a never-ending bloodbath or a very very bad rationality. Gets points for trying though.

I never understood this. Revenge feels fucking amazing. The 'empty' bit is when you have no answer to 'what next'. The act of revenge itself isn't empty, it's when revenge is everything. It's clearly not for Erik, since he's got a family and has the inklings of mutant identitarianism lurking in the background.
The problem with revenge is that it doesn't actually feel amazing for everyone. Everyone feels different about different kind of things and outcomes and while revenge can feel good for some it could easily lead to many feeling empty since they aren't actually the kind of person who enjoyed it and it revenge just doesn't really fix anything for them. Another issue is that revenge for revenge sake can often encourage negative traits and lead to self destructive tendencies while breeding anger and resentment over their lives.

I mean in canon Magneto's anger and hatred caused by his experiences during the Holocaust eventually lead to him developing a hatred of humanity and pretty much becoming the equivalent of a Nazi himself.

Not to say that Justice isn't a noble goal and that punishing Nazi's isn't totally justified since it totally is. It's just that there is a difference between vengeance and justice. Justice is for the good of all, revenge is just to make oneself feel better. One makes the world a better place while the other encourages and breeds negativity.

The issue is that Eric risks losing himself to vengeance if he isn't careful. Basically punishing Nazis isn't the issue, it's the reason for why Eric is doing it. If Eric is dead set on this it would be a good idea to have someone around to rein him in an prevent him from going too far and being consumed by anger and revenge.

Honestly, I don't like Magneto. He's not a jerk, no, but an idiot obsessed with violence. The very structure of "revenge" denies justice, the only judge for people will be Magneto himself. He will generate a new wave of violence, he will not be an impartial observer in the process. There will be people who will take revenge on Magneto, and he will become an example of the categorical inability of mutants to integrate into society. Hell, the Nuremberg IRL demanded 48 volumes of evidence, testimonies and other things. It was the cooperation of countries, in one way or another, in order to at least try to agree on the concept of "justice", simultaneously creating descriptions of crimes that had not been committed in official history before.

Magneto is not in the first place, but in the top ten people who have turned the life of mutants on the planet into hell. And like any self-respecting coward and tyrant, he refuses to bear responsibility for this, blaming it on everyone, from "collective humanity" to "X-men".

Has anyone ever thought that the best weapon against Magneto is literally chemical weapons? Agent "November" or VX in the amount of 20 mg for a situation in which "Even Alexandria needs to breathe." However, it is not necessary to breathe, in general, it is enough just not to be in an isolated suit. I feel some irony that any active actions of Magneto in a darker setting would lead to such an action, and not a pretentious battle with enemy heroes. This is the logic of comics, but I judge by moral guidelines, and here Magneto is a much worse person than the same Punisher, because taking on the role of the Messiah of mutants, on the contrary, he created everything to arrange a new genocide, a global war, cycles of hatred and nothing can be fixed in the end. He didn't just follow the path of revenge, he made a cult out of it. I'd rather we killed him right on this street and made the world a cleaner place.

I always found what he was doing precisely as what the Nazis did to the Commies, and the Jews and all their so called undesirables during their reign, where a mad man and his cronies were ruling a nation.

Which is why I grant you an opportunity to at least temper his anger and rage into something more productive.

After all you can change the world just like you can change yourself.

With time effort, and dice roll!

And besides: look at it this way.

Knowing my dice: Magneto will become evil through measures that are entirely your fault.:V
