Age of Ice and Blood: A Pathfinder System Heroic Fantasy Quest

I really hope you meant 'fury' here, DragonParadox.

And I'll make an alternative build when I get off work in a couple hours, hopefully that won't be too late.

I do, though that is admittedly a funny typo

The vote will be open until sometime tomorrow maybe even a full 24 hours. Like I said I prefer to write more than one update per day but I know that this is a pivotal moment in the history of the character so I will leave the vote open as long as there is discussion going and at least until tomorrow.

I think that for now while dealing with sane numbers we can just use the guidelines of standard PF for dealing with diplomacy, there are some detailed rules I will look into.
To add on here, the highest possible diplomacy modifier my build could reach (which is absolutely a social one) without magical enhancements, which I expect to be rare, would be a +15. And this would require the Ability Advancement (Charisma) Epic feat to boost Cha to 18. So I expect that sane numbers will remain in that ballpark.

Nice build @Snowfire
Thanks! I've been wanting to play a Bodyguard tank build for years. Though in the interest of clarity, I did steal most of it from a reddit thread.

It's a build that places you in the centre of combat all the time so that you can actually use the gimmicks to protect your allies. That it is incapable of going "I cast smite" on the heathens is kinda the point.
what??? I said the build feels passive in the sense that it is focused on protecting people. I feel the character is more proactive since he abandoned his army for being unfaithful. He feels like a man of action and initiative, not a protector, since he hasn't really shown a protective personality to me.

Well to be specific he hasn't abandoned anybody really. The crusade was a failure and now everyone is going home or wherever they want to go.

I added a bit of a lore snippet on how medieval knights saw themselves vis a vis war, both normal and the Crusades. Since it is so central to the character concept I thought it would be best to have that somewhere people will see it. @Crake I hope that addresses your concerns, though if not I am of course still happy to debate it. Free and open discussion about stuff like this is half the reason I am into questing after all.

Za what? He...didn't mutiny, my dude. At least that's utterly against the reading I had of-

@DragonParadox is @Hoppylo's statement right here or have I missed something massive?

[X] Crake
[X] My Body Was To Guard the Servants of the Lord

Order of the Dragon and Helpful both raise the Aid bonus to +3, rather than raising it by any number.
So either they get houseruled to stack for a +4 or the Helpful feat is redundant.

If it is the latter, maybe support Scion of War with Enlightened Noble for a free intimidate?
...how did I not see that. @DragonParadox may I ask for you opinion on interaction between Order of the Dragon and the Helpful trait?

That's desertion. You can't just leave an army. You usually get excited excited that

No, you do not understand. the Fifth Crusade lost, like the leadership struck a deal with the Sultanate of Egypt, sued for peace, there was no army after that, there were just a bunch of knights who were left each to their own devices to find a way home. Most of them took ship with one of the galleys of the Italian Merchant republics.

So it appears that I was also a silly and forgot that Noble Scion got altered from a Trait to a Feat years ago because it was way too strong. This has been fixed. The current build does not have Bodyguard now, but it will gain it as a bonus feat at level 3 via Honor Guard. He's still rather good at doing aid another things though, thanks to the new trait lineup. I also took Influence (Diplomacy) to amp that score slightly as I expect it to be extremely helpful - not sure if I should leave it as such, though. Sense Motive could be a good fit too. Any thoughts appreciated.

Current plan:
[X] My Body Was To Guard the Servants of the Lord
-[X] Point Buy: STR 12, DEX 13, CON 13, INT 12, WIS 10, CHA 16 (14 +2 racial)
-[X] Archetypes: Courtly Knight, Honor Guard
-[X] Order: Order of the Dragon
-[X] Feats: Combat Reflexes, Noble Scion of War
-[X] Traits: Influence(Diplomacy), Cooperative Combatant
-[X] Skill Ranks (12): 2 Diplomacy, 2 Handle Animal, 2 Intimidate, 2 Perception, 1 Ride, 2 Sense Motive, 1 Survival
--[X] Final skill bonuses: Diplomacy +10, Handle Animal +8, Intimidate +9, Knowledge (Nobility) +3, Perception +5(+7 when adjacent to Mount), Ride +5, Sense Motive +6 (+8 when adjacent to Mount), Survival +4 (+5 when to provide food and water for his allies or to protect his allies from harsh weather)
-[X] Mount: Horse! (Bodyguard Companion Archetype)
-[X] Order Ability: Aid Allies

[X] My Body Was To Guard the Servants of the Lord

[X] Be ready to support captain Antonio

The captain is the master of the ship, let's not question that from the start.

Oh so he is a failed knight, thatsa completely different vibe. I still don't think the bodyguard style fits there as well.

Hopefully someone will make a different build.

Well failed in the sense that he has grown disillusioned with the ideals that lead him to go on Crusade. Each of the three choices had reasons to try to build a new life , to engage with this strange new world and in the case of Sir Roland a significant part of it is his loss of faith. I would not say he is looking for new things to believe necessarily, but he is looking for new reasons to believe in something.

I am kind of trying to balance giving these people a stake in the new world with giving you guys as the players the freedom to decide what his particular reaction will be. That is one of the reasons why I am not dictating an alignment, truth be told I am not even sure the standard alignment system is a good idea but there are a lot of spells built around it and we are already doing so many new things so i finally decided that it would be best to leave it ambiguous until the end of the first arc and then see what your actions look like.

Just kibosh mechanics with alignment based effects.
