Gold and Treachery - A Trade Magnate Quest

you felt nothing. There was an odd sense of emptiness at the realization
Ouch. Was expected but is pretty bad still Lol.
Still wish we picked any other wife since we'd be in an absolute golden position this turn instead of having to sell and downgrade everything to survive. But hopefully other loans will come in to replace the usurious loan we have.

[X] Plan Mysteries and Loan
-[X] Spend time with your wife (1 AP)
-[X] Investigate Minuwrios Death (2 AP, DC ??? Espionage check)
-[X] Look at the books yourself. (1 AP, DC ??? Administration, overspending: 1 AP, 1 Wealth)
-[X] Get another loan. (1 AP, DC 2 Negotiation check)
--[X] Ideally, our new loan should be enough to pay off our loan to Sillaniu Qaypanu. We do so immediately.
-[X] Seek Opportunities: Visit the Madrasa (1 AP)
-[X] If needed to avoid being in the red due to the fines, cut the households budget.
--[X] Stop maintenance of the wine cellar.

I'm keeping the maintenance of the library because it feels IC for our protagonist. I'm visiting the Madrasa again because we may as well keep on this route now that we're relatively committed, and because it's an opportunity to make profitable deals. Similarly, I'm thinking of taking another loan now that our reputation is good: it probably won't be as usurious as Qaypanu's loan. This should hopefully let us settle Qaypanu's loan and leave us within another whose interest we can more easily service.
The two investigations are there because these situations seem fishy and I don't want to get surprised by something later. The longer we wait, the harder it'll get. And of course examining our books might turn up more money!
And I'm obviously spending time with the wife because it's important to get to know her.

[X] Plan Wife, Dead Cousin and Loan Shark.
-[X] Get another loan. (1 AP, DC 2 Negotiation check)
-[X] Organize a simple banquet. (1 AP, 3 Wealth)
-[X] Investigate Minuwrios Death (2 AP, DC ??? Espionage check)
-[X] Spend time with your wife (1 AP)
-[X] Gather Rumours (1 AP, DC 0 Espionage check)
-[X] Pay off a loan.
--[X] Sillaniu Qaypanu (8 Wealth)
-[X] Sell Tenements (price modified by Bargaining check)

People are willing to lend us money now since it seems like we are not close to bankrupt. If we suddenly start selling off everything we own it will look like we are in financial troubles.

[X] Plan Mysteries and Loan
Sounds about right.
I'm pretty pissed we can't get out of loaning to close off loans, but wha can ya do, ay

Due to AP reasons (and lack of cash to invest) my plan no longer does anything with the tenements. We can't afford to improve them yet, but I don't want to sell them.
I've also added some conditionals:
  1. Repay Sillaniu Qaypanu if possible
  2. Only reduce our standard of living if it's actually needed to avoid being in the red (ideally we can get a loan of 9 to repay Sillaniu Qaypanu and pay our fines, and it'll work out). Reducing our material comforts right as our new wife arrives may not be the best idea. Well, at least the outfit she was introduced in suggests that she's either not used to living in great luxury or at least able to be sensible about it.

Little typo there ;)

What about the banquet? How will we afford it? we still need at least 3 wealth

That's why my plan doesn't include a banquet.

Her introduction (see the described outfit) suggests that she's practical and/or not demanding of great luxury, and the description of the banquet options explicitly says that she doesn't require a banquet.
If things go very well, then maybe we can do a delayed one next turn? But right now I'd prefer to focus on escaping from that extortionate loan.

EDIT: If nothing goes wrong, next turn we'll have an actual income which should be sufficient to do an actually decent banquet without selling the furniture just to throw a bigger party.

Well its suppose to be required traditionally so it won't be looking good to do so XD

The Basileus Calls
News from the imperial court in Panike is that Basileus Alexandros III has opened his treasury and is hiring every well learned man that is willing to live at his court. What their task will be, nobody knows, but it seems that he is looking especially for men versed in natural philosophy. Some claim that he seeks to modernize Panikes military, which has gained a reputation for costly victories in recent years, paying dearly in blood and gold to keep the realms borders safe.
Any chance of us being noticed if we practice Natural Philosophy? Not that I expect good odds thanks to our Ealim connections.
Our spice trade says 22 Bound Funds, is that how much we'd need to open another trade route like that?

Huh.

Hey, @Azel, why was the sell possessions moved? Does taking it still let us make an account of everything in the household, or was it all rolled into Accomodations III?

Also, for @TalonofAnathrax:
-[X] Get another loan. (1 AP, DC 2 Negotiation check)
--[X] Ideally, our new loan should be enough to pay off our loan to Sillaniu Qaypanu. We do so immediately.
The likelihood we can find a loan of 8 wealth, that doesn't set us back worse insofar as the interest is concerned, is not high, I feel.

We'd probably end up trading a loan shark, who has so far played it somewhat nice with us, for something possibly worse, and with less scruples about letting people know we took a loan from them.

Unless there's another reason you want a loan that size?

Edit: for example, it is apparently expected of us to throw another feast since we just got married. Which, in turn, means a high likelihood that there's both rumors and a potential rep loss since we're highly likely not to do so.

I assume were gonna try several offers so that we can find someone willing to go that high but isn't a loan shark doing impossible interest rates.

That's gonna be one helluva DC to pass to find a whooping 8 Wealth loan, I'd reckon, especially since it's not like we're looking for chump change.

And I'm still curious why our cousin took a loan from the guy, and if it was even bigger originally. Here's hoping for a good result on that investigation!

... ahh well, gonna still going to post my plan, better late than never as they say.

[X] Plan Investigating Smokes and Mirrors
-[X] Look at the books yourself. (1 AP, DC ??? Administration)
-[X] Investigate Minuwrios Death (2 AP, DC ??? Espionage check)
-[X] Spend time with your wife (1 AP)
-[X] Cut the households budget.

-[X] Spend time at the Kassarium (1 AP)

I completely disagree with looking for a loan right now, as I find it a long shot that we can get one adequate enough to get us rid of Qaypanu's loan by next turn.

Edit: OR, if we do find one, it will be something along the lines of "Gain 11 Wealth for 3 Interest per turn", which puts us back on square one, if only 3 Wealth richer.

As such, I'm hoping that investigating rumours and spending time at the Kassarium might boost our investigation into our cousin's death, as well as maybe giving some more contacts.
