[X] Leave this weird not-garden place… somehow
It's probably important to consider whether or not bosses are going to be more game-mechanics compliant, or lore compliant when it comes to discussing their power levels. Like by game mechanics, Gwyndolin is "oh boy I can teleport down a hallway and shoot arrows and lasers I guess"; by lore, he's the reason all of Anor Londo has sunlight, and if you factor in DS3 it's entirely possible that the Ornstein boss is as you say, an illusion - possibly meaning that if you charge into Gwyn's tomb, you'll suddenly have said illusory Ornstein bearing down on your ass while you try to fight Gwyndolin. Some of the whole "gameplay VS lore" discussions came up in the old Red Soul quest which was probably a partial inspiration for this and other madoka/Dark Souls crossover quests, if you want to track that down and try to read through it. At the least, Pinwheel was a MASSIVELY more dangerous threat as a master necromancer fighting against, well, the severed soul puppeting her body that Kyoko was.Well that's some nice exposition. Goal acquired!
It sounds like Oriko is probably in Anor Londo, most likely being experimented upon in the Duke's Archives. The most powerful beings in that area should be Seath, Gwyndolin, and Smough (assuming Ornstein is an illusion). Also the Painted World is there, but pocket dimensions are probably not in detection range.
More powerful than Walpurgis, though... Gwyndolin probably isn't, in spite of their impressive illusions and gimmicky arrow attacks giving them unearned longevity (though at this point in the timeline the arrow spam isn't impossibly powerful like it is by DS3). Maybe our scale-deficient boy qualifies with the primoridial crystal giving him regeneration stronger than Walpurgis' plot armour? His curse magic is pretty nasty. Smough probably isn't the one we're talking about, though he's certainly a doozy with his possibly-illusionary buddy.
It's possible that Madoka talking about Priscilla, whose 'Lifehunt' powers don't seem to work well at killing marauding Undead but causes the gods (a group which Madoka is now a part of) to fear her and lock her away.
Or we could be looking at some entirely new spicy monstrosity waiting in the wings. Oh boy!
Ah, right. I was voting to quickly ask questions and leave. My bad, didn't catch them as being mutually exclusive.
So Oriko is in the presence of one of the powerful players, Seath being the obvious guess given his power and tendency to have his minions kidnap women for his experiments. And Oriko would no doubt be a fascinating subject given how unusual she'd be compared to the usual undead. But one thing stands out to me:One of them seems to be not too different from our soul-based magic and is focused around where I can sense Oriko is.
Maybe it's because I only really played and know stuff about the first game, and it was a while ago at that, but I can't think of an immediate reason for Gwyndolin's power to have a few pockets of it away from the upper city; Sure, he's the one responsible for the sunlight and all, but if that was it then anywhere with sunlight should be bathed in his power, rather than just a few pockets.Another is a bit odd with a feeling that's hard to describe; it's also mostly focused high up near where Oriko is, but there's also a few pockets of it scattered around the city.
Lastly, from this I'd say we can conclude that Godoka probably considers Undead Burg and Anor Londo to be part of the same city, along with the surroundings like Firelink shrine given that's where we were before our disagreement with Snuggly."That's the thing. I can sense that Oriko is somewhere in the same world as you – somewhere very, very high up in the city you're in – but I can't pinpoint her location or contact her at all."
While there will probably be differences to the game, I'm not going to go over the top with power bullshit. There will be bosses who are stronger and possibly a few who are weaker, and also ones that won't be changed at all outside of not being limited to movesets and animations. It's probably important to consider whether or not bosses are going to be more game-mechanics compliant, or lore compliant when it comes to discussing their power levels.
This was meant to be referring to miracles, especially the sunlight-focused ones, hence why Madoka wasn't sure how to describe it. They consist of a wide range of tales, from Gwynevere's blessings to Velka's justice stuff to Gwyn's lightning, but they all get their power from being stories of the gods. There's plenty of places within Lordran that could act as centre points of the gods' power.Maybe it's because I only really played and know stuff about the first game, and a it was while ago at that, but I can't think of an immediate reason for Gwyndolin's power to have a few pockets of it away from the upper city; Sure, he's the one responsible for the sunlight and all, but if that was it then anywhere with sunlight should be bathed in his power, rather than just a few pockets.
Just realised I didn't respond to this.Ah, right. I was voting to quickly ask questions and leave. My bad, didn't catch them as being mutually exclusive.
Haha, noSurely that "ghost town" below isn't as bad as Oscar made it out to be?
We do in fact. We haven't run into any witches, no grief seeds have dropped so far when killing the demon. It's a concern which only needs a bit of reflection of this new reality and facts of the situation. She luckily answered the cleansing part on her own, Madokas personal attention.I would also vote to ask Godoka how we cleanse our gem here, but I don't think we have an IC reason to ask that yet.
I wouldn't quite say the world is condensed too much in Dark souls 1, as far as I can remember. Remember everything is within the confines of, or around, Lordran (or whatever the giant city thing that Anor Londo is built above is called).Another thing.
Is the world and map un-gamified?
Like how in games the world is condensed, the distances are reduced and things are made more convenient for level design and game design purposes.
Like a realistic depiction of this place would be way bigger than it was in the game.
No worries. I've been there and done that myself, so I know the feeling pretty well. Also, I was already burnt out by the time I got around to writing that day, so I decided to make it shorter...
