Increased Wisdom, Rank, and Rank gains make this a versatile build that can stay in the Voyaging Realm or return to the Human Sphere as Hunger prefers.
Typo: Repeated word.
In Hunger's case, this increases his current Praxis endurance by half again, though note that this techniques with exponentiating costs, such as Artful Thorn, may not yield extra invocations.
Grammar: this -> those techniques

[X] Myth and Legend
I think this might be the best option in terms of priorities (Human Sphere), mitigation of conditions (risk-takers rejoice), and being the most plot appropriate.

My 2nd go-to would be Armory of Night mainly because it'd be so damn cool but I hesitate because I'd prefer to stay linked with Verschlengorge instead of creating a 2nd Armament for Hunger to keep a leash on Versh's Decimator Affliction, so that'd reduce the utility. If an argument convinces me the value gained is worth it, I'm willing to shift my vote but as of now this seems like a very combat-oriented build.
  • Accursed Implement is rather lackluster for me as it doubles down on a Rank-focused build.
  • A King for All Seasons incentivizes staying in VR when I'd rather move on.
  • Ambivalent on A Hero's Reward as it doesn't specify the benefits and while I'm sure they're potent, I'm inclined to build on Hunger's existing build, at least without more info.

I really want gundam, but avoiding any conditions is important imo. It lets us fully enjoy the Pillars vacation without having to worry about rehab or an incoming apoc proc targeting us while we're weak. And it gives us a lot of power. Hopefully it'll let us work our way to sign 6/7 faster as well.

either this or Armory + Exertion or Lessening + Cheap reward.

I thought this is only relevant for about 1 week outside the Realm of evening, though?

Remember that when we come out of the Pillars, it'll be like the Apocryphal has had 1 week to charge up. If Apocryphal activates while we are inside Pillars, it will have even less power to spend.

Grievous Exertion gives us a massive broad spectrum debuff for 1 month and baits apocrypha again(Pillars time counts but there's always the possibility of an outlier).
Over-Refined, in conjunction with the Heroic Advancement, is closer to a power reallocation for a year if we use it to do something like birth the Apocryphal Armament. No Praxis but a massive upgrade to a non-praxis thing we have combined with an Armament, with all the utility options and the Ultimate Attack it provides.

We might even get an opportunity to unseal the Praxis if we're willing to put the effort into finding a way to recover, then we'd be utterly ludicrous.

Weird question: if we take SitS, would our curses still be active when we're dead?
Suspicions:
*Indenture: Yes. If we aren't rezzed in time to finish the task, we die beyond recovery. Unclear what would happen for an heir.
*Apocryphal: Keeps making times interesting, but doesn't really impede efforts to bring us back so we can live in them.
*Tyrant: Yes, technically.
*Decimator: Probably not, but only because it's an Affliction.

[X] Myth and Legend

This feels very cool and appropriate; it just feels... fitting.

This involves picking a Feat to commemorate the occasion. This is good.

It involves referencing the Vanreir fight again. This is good.

And it involves a companion saving Hunger from wrecking his body and spirit immensely, again. This is also good.

I like all of these things. I like them a lot. I like everything about all of these choices, really! Vanreir and Amarlt was referenced in the fight itself; and here and now he is remembered again, as we perfect his thrust. The Praxis led us to victory here, and the Advancements on offer here give us much easier usage of the Praxis techniques. In fact, Artful Thorn is now very usable even without Adorie along, which is extremely good. And... I really like the idea of one of our companions being critical to our success and good health in the fight; I like the story of that. And maybe Hunger will feel touched by the fact that somebody cares for him so much.

... Also, whomever opposes Hunger can eat a -.5 Rank penalty from thereon. Which is just amusing to think about. Even if I doubt the slapstick "Anti-Aobaru Adversary gets hit in mid-combat; slips on banana peel and dies" joke is how it will manifest, it's still funny. And the -.5 Rank comes in useful if any of our companions are the ones finding themselves in a fight, too; so this actually serves to help shield our allies a bit, too.

... And, also... I want to get our Companion EFBs started, as the sooner we start on them, the sooner we get to a potential Special Advancement of 3 (or is it 5 now?) Companion EFBs!
[ ] A Hero's Reward - For whom the favor was carried.
If this had more of a write-up for it, I might actually vote for it. Unfortunately it, uh, doesn't have more of a write-up. =/

As is, there's almost nothing to work with but your imagination. I mean, obviously it's bullshit powerful of course. Way goddamn powerful. Bullshit powerful. And it gets rid of the risk of the Apocryphal Onslaught.

But, like... There's almost no detail here.

Come on, tell us more about what this is, so we actually know what we're getting here man!

If we're talking about getting an advancement we won't be able to replicate later, the haeliel upgrade is without a doubt it. We will never be able to replicate the circumstances of unbridled heroism again. This is our chance to become a champion of a high cursebearer. The only reason I'm hesitant to take it is because we'd be missing out on a heroic advancement, and we wouldn't get to see what kind of things we could have gotten.

My main problem with the super armament plan is that it stops Hunger from growing since versch would be doing the majority of the fighting. Anything that hunger could have a difficult fight with versch could crush like a bug. How is hunger supposed to scale to armament level when he's probably not even the one piloting our mega armament death machine.

[X] Myth and Legend
[X] Least Foresleep

Will post reasons later, but the main reason for myth is "Considerable in-setting effects" and the synergies. As for sleep, hunger powers up by fighting so power-gain is only minimally effected. We'll get attacked in our sleep but I think that's less risky than the other options.

Going with this for now since it's both very appropriate on a narrative level and offers great Praxis benefits, but I could be convinced to the robot option or Haeliel vote. I'd like to see more discussion on the benefits of all options first though.

Refinement of Purpose, Sword in the Stone, Oath of Winter, and Inheritance: Pierce Through have been added to the Advancement Memory.

By the way, I do think Least Foresleep might be the best Condition here. We'd still basically have 100% of our power for the hours we are awake in and due to the way we fight using Praxis techniques we are basically tapped our for the day once we go all out already; prolonged confrontation is not in our favor nor has staying awake for 8 hours in a row actually come up so far. We try to fight more decisively than that, really.

However, we would lose a ton of effectiveness of Pillars for a while, so that's also quite the drawback. For preserving our power I do think it's worth it though.

King For All Seasons is getting overlooked a bit maybe. It gets us self-resurrection, 100+ Might and Agility, rulership stuff, and Hour of Reckoning. It's a lot more boring then Armory of Night or Full Haeliel though, and doesn't negate the condition like Myth and Legend.

Accursed Implement is only good if you aren't super into any of the expensive options and want to buy a different EFB in the Realm of Evening.

I'm all about synergy and plot appropriateness is also a strong plus. While armoury is cool I've never really desired our own armament.

Accursed Implement is the Ruling Ring option, which to be fair, is attractive.

The issue with Least Foresleep for me is that Apocryphal-chan is going to have a lot of fun aiming life threatening procs scaled to our full capabilities at us while we're asleep.
Because why wouldn't it, really?

To be fair, "And then Hunger was woken up in the middle of the night by Another Astral Beast" would get boring pretty fast, and Apocryphal-chan isn't a fan of being boring.

Minor (but possibly interesting) point: The Forebear seems to draw a lot of his strength and utility effects from unimitigated/unmitigatable curses. Uttermost allowed access to the Praxis... but made mitigation of Tyrant impossible. The Foresleep allowed rest and recuperation without further complications... and is also an unimitigatable version of Slumber.
Thoughts?

Yeah there's definitely a connection, here are a couple more.

It's also interesting how some the curses Hunger was initially offered line up with the Forebear.

The Geas of Indenture: The Forebear had the Procession.
Affliction of Slumber: The Forebear had his Foresleep.
Brand of the Champion: The Forebear was called a cosmic janitor, and was required to go around "fixing up" universes.
Doom of the Tyrant: Uttermost blocked us from mitigating this, implying a connection of some sort.

No known match for Lunacy, Decimation, Plenary, or Apocryphal. Hunger only had to take 4 curses total so maybe the Forebear was similar? Pretty tenuous though.

This update seems to confirm the Foresleep/Slumber connection.

Can't believe I missed this last time, but Hunger had to take 4 curses for Vengence, and the Forebear saw the number 4 as mystically important. Seeing 4 as the number of death is East Asian, so maybe that was the Forebear's original ethnicity? Hunger, you may recall, was also mentioned to be potentially east asian.

He recalled that he had come from Earth, a planet of sophisticated technology, born in a land of the far East... or was it the far West?

The Forebear/Hunger connections just never end do they?

Apocryphal-chan only needs to succeed once, we need to succeed every time.

Resurrection abilities could increase that margin for error, but giving the Apocryphal an opening, even a small one, is a bad idea in general. See recent events for an example. We can't afford to burn rerolls like that with any regularity.
