[X] Purchase It
[X] Bait and Tackle

Might switch to Cast Line, but "hope Blood debuff immobilizes it" does not inspire confidence. My main gripe with Bait and Tackle is that delaying the fight to build an artifact is lame, so that's a strong reason to vote for it. :s

Just as expected, there's an option that attempts to salvage the Armament. It is tremendously valuable, not just as a bargaining chip but as a window into the science of the Foremost. Killing the Lord of Stalks and ending the Fish's rampage by subverting it would leave Hunger well in the black in terms of lives saved, but the characterization implications of passing up not one but two Decimation targets are unpleasant. It's a tragic loss, but let's just do what we came here to do. This combination maximizes our win percent and makes the most of the time away from Nilfel. If the Apocryphal Curse strikes, so be it, the longer we go without a proc the worse the next one will inevitably be. Could be double the Curse mitigation, in a sense.

Fucking Wow. I kinda wanna vote Nope and just fuck up Lord of Stalks on the way back, goddamn.

Finally get ADS for our third Blade EFB and see if we still get that special advancement for purchasing that many for a single artifact. Its more useful for the mental stats and Luck at this situation plus the insane Power of Ruin damage may prevent any sort of healing it possesses. Finally, going for Cast Line because the Apocryphal probably empowers either the Armament Fish or Lord Protector and I would prefer it helps the latter because he is weaker than this thing.

I know, right? I'm experiencing that same temptation... and All-Defeating Stance would not only help figure out what's going on, it could help convince the Fish! +5 All Stats encompasses Int, Wis, Cha, and Luck. It might be enough to balance out the reduced odds from not getting in that first Artful Thorn strike. Plus, we've OOC got an easy AHS target locked in, we'd just have to kill Venitari.

If you're intent on purchasing ADS, Cast Line should be a strong option for contention... Bait and Tackle introduces far more Arete spending opportunities and offers both increased Apocryphal risk and fewer lives saved! Hunger managing to rescue the billions of lives that would otherwise be lost to the Fish's rampage of the day is no small matter, for his psyche or otherwise!

Unless the Planar Delta is further away than Elixir Kingdom from the fish, of course.

Eh, its very tempting, but we might not get Stalks.
*That would still leave you with a Decimator target to hunt. Hunger would likely be forced to undertake whichever of the Lord of Stalks or Draining the Sovereignty (Territorial Waters) he finds first.
It would suck if we got stuck with the Sovereignty, we would probably loose out on Elixir, cripple the Kingdom, and we wouldn't finish the drain in time to prevent devastation.

Would almost certainly be a dice roll, and 50/50 odds are bad odds.

Eh. The Shiny Gang part of me wants to see what artifact creation options and allies and summons we could get. The Moral Gang part of me wants to end this as fast as possible, either with kill or with diplomacy.

I think I'll lean Moral Gang in this case, I already went full shiny with Eye of the Storm. Approval voting for diplomacy and Cut.

[X] Attempt Diplomacy

Leaving the beast alone for one day longer will result in countless territories buried under its catastrophic floods, its mere incidental movements raising tsunami waves capable of blotting out the sky.
To clarify; not gonna moralgang this, unlike Decimation it's not Hunger's responsibility to stop this fish earlier, at greater risk to himself. But it would be nice if we could somehow reduce the damage it does.

Hm. Won't have any effect until the fight starts, but we should lead the fight back in the direction the Fish came from, so waves will smash already-smashed civilizations.

Tsunami-defeating stance? That falls under "All" but incidental waves aren't hostile... how's it phrased?
All-Defeating: All external effects natural or supernatural which would harm, impede or negatively alter the wielder must contest the amplified Power of Ruin or be destroyed before reaching the wielder. Effectively the character automatically applies an incredibly powerful conceptual-level counterattack against all hostile effects.
So we could Ruin waves by standing in front of them, but it would satisfy the description if it only destroyed the water that would touch Hunger. Not nearly enough.

We don't have time to waste hitting waves rather than solving the actual problem. Could set an Astral summon on the ocean-calming job while we look for allies? But that would mean leaving an untrustworthy highranker near Gisena, hm.

The earlier we find allies, the earlier we can warn them, but that's not exactly a new plan.

If we raise the land-no, that's dumb.

Wait! I have an actually good idea. We should want really hard that the tsunamis not damage people. I'm serious. These are incidental movements, therefore probably not Rank-backed, so Hunger exerting his Rank 8.4 should shift the world to an appreciable degree.

The apocryphal operates in many different ways. A leader of a nation may not necessarily be made stronger themselves. Events could be manipulated to lead a powerful mercenary into their employ. Or maybe one of our allies could end up getting killed. I think apocryphal making straightforward and dangerous enemies even more powerful is easier to deal with. All we have to do us get more powerful in turn.

In any case, I would prefer it does not make this current situation with the horizon spanning monster worse.

[X] Don't Purchase It
[X] Bait and Tackle

With Bait and Tackle I'd rather hold the Arete, seeing as ADS is decent but p marginal here. A really good one use artifact or ally isn't the most fun thing to spend Arete on, but it might get us that little bit more oomph for frankly less Arete.

Bait and Tackle > Cast Line. Since the impact of this fish is so great, we need to be maximizing our chances of succeeding, rather than rushing to fight it at drastically worse odds in order to save an amount of lives that will be lower than would be lost if we had to retreat and return later. Also, giving the Apocryphal Curse a larger window here isn't relevant, because it's capable of slamming us basically no matter what if it really wants to. Choosing Cast Line just makes its job easier by exposing us to even more risk.

Is it possible for us to deploy Silver of Evening's perfect defense for this week against the Apocryphal Curse for the next day & night? That might be a good idea if either of the good plans (read: not diplomacy) win. I realize it might deprive us of having it for LP, so it might also be wise to hold off, but people seemed to be anticipating a harsh Apocryphal Proc, so I'm putting it out there.
