Under the Open Sky (CWMGQ Spinoff)

More elaborately.

1) Exile in Waiting was rather spooky. Hopefully we will not meet meet them again. I also feel that White and West are entirely too blase about it, after all he cannot permakill West and loses out to White, so it is no wonder Exile wants nothing to do with them.

2) Summit apparently keeps her track record of somehow rubbing the veterans and strong MGs wrong. Red Rose for having tricks similar to White Soul and getting her into troublesome fights, Lancelot Expy for triggering her paranoia, Reinforce for being a potential threat to Night Sky... Judgement Drive and Juggernaut Drive for having the temerity of not blundering into hostile Grey and dying like Juggernaut did, and now Lunar Radiance for staring her down. Boo those girls. Summit is socialble, they're not socialble! 😛

3) West's jab at White thinking she is very persuasive is on point actually. From her known track record she got caught up in a cult and then talked out of the same cult by her sister and a wet behind the ears magical girl apprentice of that same sister. White is actually a bit of a pushover isn't she? ;)

4) Summit got a nice sword. Have a nice meal!

I will elaborate on the possible vote options in a few hours. Just... Don't expect to put a dent on Solar Radiance, she has Insurmountable Perfection and our only way to bypass it is Wave Force, IIRC.

Insurmountable Perfection
-Solar Radiance's Magic Modifier rolls are multiplied by 5. Any attack that has a Modifier roll lower than Solar Radiance's is negated. Attacks that do not carry a Modifier Roll count as having a roll of 0 for the purpose of the ability. Unstoppable may bypass this protection at a 45% reduction in power. Solar Radiance is immune to Slayer Abilities. Judgement and it's derivatives operate as normal.

Assume anything aimed at her needs a magic modifier of 12500 to match her.

So Lost and Forgotten seems to be an auto-kill ability by the Exile affecting anyone trapped in a spacial barrier. Anyone have any idea what Summit's But It Refused and Armor of the Timelord are about? Did we no-sell that attack on our own or were we rescued by White?

We have Implacable, we are thematically hard to put down. I believe we would have died, but we had resistance and it was enough for White to bail us out.

Their advice was to jump into it and start fucking it up from the inside which... well, they're immune, we're merely resistant, but I think we'd also fuck it up harder, so its a matter of who fucks up who first?

And Summit is definitely already off kilter. Tortured for most of her childhood and then perceiving Gaia even if the memories of both were erased to some degree.

Looking at a living space and time distortion and going "meh" is not the normal response in the least. And she did admit if it was a living distortion of knowledge she probably would have lost herself in it while trying to eat it.

... I'm tempted to suggest trying to eat a Gehaburn if one still exists, but probably won't happen.

As for votes I'd like to try to continue accruing XP. Solar also has a one action Skill as long as her spell is active... And because she's an Epic I think her auto-immunity to spells below her MM would cold stop the spell canceling of our Wave Force?

We can't win.

Also those two are as fucked up as... basically everyone except Red Rose and Insight in that group. Team Disaster a go?

So I would avoid that option at least. I'm partial to raiding the demons to keep them both from getting any ideas and farming some XP.

Summit needs to something all the time. Implacable cuts both ways I think considering she got mind-fucked hard enough to earn it instead of being born with it/getting it when she became a magical girl.

"You can't stop me," but also "I can't stop me."

So, some fun things we can now do.

Add Smash to Aggressive Absorption while Spell Boost is a Panoply ability.

Add Intercept to Ramming Speed so that we can Intercept spells.

Add Multi-Shot or Rain of Light to Quell for mass canceling.

Edit:
At current levels with MM rolls being 50% of max and no situational modifiers, adding Smash to Aggressive Absorption while Spell Boost is a Panoply ability gives 9 strings that are each

Aggressive Absorption: 180 Base Damage, +445 Dice, +1600 Spell Boost, +200 Light of Discovery, x9 SMASH = 21,825 Total Damage

That's a grand total of 196,425 Damage with Disintegrate and Consume. On a level 9 spell.

Also, care to check my math on the edit above? That sounds like some insane damage scaling we just unlocked and I want a second opinion on its viability.

What this looks like is that someone did not think through the implications of a neat idea.

Because yes, barring [blatant excuse to not let Summit deal that much damage] here, that is a valid combination.

[X] You have another idea for borrowing strength. The three Drives have Abilities that flow between them and Judgement Drive has a high control over her magic. Ask them to help you by storing some of their power that you can absorb later in a pinch.

[X] Glare at people until you know what the weird effect you've unlocked does.

[X] Go watch the equipment being recovered from stasis. How is the Counter Force going about that?

Maybe they will feed us some interesting gear if we look pitiful enough. Or just uh, ask.

[X] There's some Elven VIPs hanging around another plaza. See if they can help you figure out some of your Abilities that defend others.

MG Summit, HERO OF THE EMPIRE, wishes to talk.

Right. I think It's 10 PM so it's time to stop procrastinating and actually give my vocal opinion on what the epilogue options will give.

[X] Go watch the equipment being recovered from stasis. How is the Counter Force going about that?
This option is probably a social activity with a possible research credit from watching humans manhandle stasis. A mystery box of a sort.
[X] Find Major Roberts and chat with him, figure out what your next mission might be.
This is an option to get a Mission Select Screen.

Sadly, I am tired and want a nice and safe place to spend time on research and socials. I am in no rush to run forward to next battle. Pass.
[X] Persuade Gabriel to practice against you in a spar. Something to hone your skills and hers…
This is a rematch for a battle written up in Nepgear Quest. For people who missed it, Summit was showing off her pre-quest skills, picked a fight with Gabriel on Divine Juice, and got her arm cut off for the trouble (and generally lost most of her health).

I assure you, so long as all of Summit's abilities (Ceaseless Warrior in particular) are working as intended, Summit as she is now, will dominate the battle with Gabriel as she is currently on the first page of CWMGQ, both in the air (Skydance), and on land (Intercept memes with ever growing APT). Also, I think it is a good opportunity to examine Gabriel's new armor and sword, possibly getting an option for Ward Pierce, or perhaps even Mana Pierce if we are lucky.

It is one of my first picks.

[X] There's some Elven VIPs hanging around another plaza. See if they can help you figure out some of your Abilities that defend others.
This is the option for figuring out Prayer of Blades properly, and also a good opportunity to check if some of our newly gained Protean spell combinations work.

I am actually hoping more for Guardian Touch to be checked if it meshes well with Adamantine (for better protection) and Collateral Damage (conversion into a proper AOE boost over wide area and not the anemic short range Target by Modifier).

It is another one of my picks.
[X] Open portals to nearby Dimensions to freak out Hell's armies. After getting permission, of course.
Very blatantly a Random Encounter option, if we are allowed to mess around by our higher-ups.
[X] Glare at people until you know what the weird effect you've unlocked does.
This is probably figuring out what our Intimidating Presence will be doing. Congratulations on reaching big leagues properly and remember that when Lunar Radiance the Doomsnek got into a staring contest with Summit, Lunar was the one to back off.
[X] Goddess White mentioned that Lunar Radiance wanted to fight you, but was persuaded by Solar Radiance that she should let Solar fight in her stead in any spar. Sounds like there's some drama there.
-[X] And how do you expect to make a good showing against Solar Radiance? [Write-in]
Speaking of Lunar... I will elaborate on this more, in a separate post. Suffice to say, this is likely to end in our defeat. Very likely.
[X] You have another idea for borrowing strength. The three Drives have Abilities that flow between them and Judgement Drive has a high control over her magic. Ask them to help you by storing some of their power that you can absorb later in a pinch.
I think this one is self-explanatory. Pass.
[X] There's something you want to try...
-[X] [Write in a combat trick you want codified or an Ability Summit should try to replicate]
Yet another one of my likely picks.

[X] Persuade Gabriel to practice against you in a spar. Something to hone your skills and hers…
-[X] Ask permission to examine (Inspect) her new armor and sword after the battle, you are curious. Especially about the blade.

[X] There's some Elven VIPs hanging around another plaza. See if they can help you figure out some of your Abilities that defend others.
-[X] Also work on figuring out how your new ability to modify spells works with Guardian Touch. Test Adamantine and Collateral Damage (AOE), but be careful to not harm people.

Now about Solar Radiance. For those who cannot be bothered to check her, this is what she can do:

1) she has 1500 health, 750 damage, 500 resilience, 500 magic modifier, 4 APT and an Epic Affinity. Sounds like she is weak but it can't be further from the truth because:

2) she has a spell that multiplies all of her stats by 5, and a combo of abilities that maxes her magic modifier rolls and further multiplies them by 5.

She has 7500 Health, 3750 Base Damage, 2500 Base Resilience, and 12500 Magic Modifier. Usually.

3) Any attack that does not surpass her modifier roll with its own, is ignored. Non-Rolling effects are considered to roll 0. She also has 1-action skill negation.

4) She does very rude things to all defenses because she has Intercept, Unstoppable, and halves effectiveness of defensive abilities. Her calculated damage after TDTG, CW and DC (divide by 2, substract 30% and substract further 25% of what is left) is 4030.

With the exception of Mana Pierce, Metafracture, Judgement, Smite and Unstoppable (at 55% power that last one) she is basically immune to most of everything.

For Summit, we can only hit her with Wave Force and hope to damage her. Assume damage of 3500-ish at best on the first hit, or 4600-ish with Spell Boost. Reality-Rending Force will have the next hit be 5000-6000 and kill her. Not something we want.

Alternate options are using Quell (Anti-magic) and hoping it sticks, or going to Grapple her and hoping that the negation of magic modifier holds out. Seizing initiative to cast Wave Force before she buffs herself and proceeding to melee.

Or getting a Shop item of Cold Considerations and (naively) assuming you can out-dodge her once your APT is high enough. Strict math will have SummitBot suffer two hits from SolarBot of 4030 damage over two turns, and get 13 APT on the 3rd turn - enough to dodge all 4 attacks SolarBot can dish out every turn, with APT to spare and 9940 health remaining.

In the optimistic interpretation that her weakening of defenses does not double the action cost of dodging her attacks. Also I presume Solar has dealt with overly evasive enemies before.

Yes.
Yes.

Lost and Forgotten is a squishy Ability that lets the Exile in Waiting outright kill things that have left their home. Exile was trying to make it work past a number of problems. First, Summit isn't quite away from her home as she considers it. Second, it was running away and sending a very tenuous link back. Third, It was trying to only hit Summit while White was touching the latter. Forth, Summit was trying to DODGE with moderate effectiveness.

Anyway, Goddess White yanked you back to living.
Add Smash to Aggressive Absorption while Spell Boost is a Panoply ability.

Uh. I always considered Aggressive Absorption to be short-ranged instead of melee. And the workings of it don't fit with superheavy blows either. It's swinging around a lot of angry hooks all at once, right?

2) Summit apparently keeps her track record of somehow rubbing the veterans and strong MGs wrong. Red Rose for having tricks similar to White Soul and getting her into troublesome fights, Lancelot Expy for triggering her paranoia, Reinforce for being a potential threat to Night Sky... Lunar Radiance is annoyed because Summit got Red Rose hurt. And Red Rose, Solar Radiance, and Goddess White all told her to calm down, and that it wasn't Summit's fault! So annoying.

(Which is why Solar put her foot down that she would be the one sparring. No reducing Summit to a pile of goo! Or spraying super-toxic blood mist around the Supergate if Summit starts making her bleed instead.)

For Summit, we can only hit [Solar Radiance] with Wave Force and hope to damage her. Assume damage of 3500-ish at best on the first hit, or 4600-ish with Spell Boost. Reality-Rending Force will have the next hit be 5000-6000 and kill her. Not something we want.
In UtOS spars it is considered bad form to swing around spells or attacks with Unstoppable, Slayer effects, and most lingering damage effects (with some wriggle room for bleed and or setting things on fire when the participants are tough enough). Basically, Wave Force and Searing Light are off limits and Solar is going to seal Unstoppable on her own weapon.

Description says it "grabs", which sounds pretty melee to me!

Ranged means it's still compatible with Anti-Air though.

I'd need to check her ability wording, but unless it says it increases the cost, it shouldn't do that.

Of course, the thing that you need to consider is that her weapon is basically a laser ball that she controls 100% telepathically. Think Yondu from Guardians of the Galaxy crossed with Sundancer from Worm.

The wording is that defenses are 50% less effective, but since negation is pass-fail, action cost is the only variable that can be affected to make it less effective in a remotely reasonable manner (and even that is not guaranteed).

As for using a miniature Sun as a weapon, that sounds that even with Unstoppable sealed (I read - downgraded to Juggernaut) it is not really something that can be effectively blocked/deflected since it will come back near immediately.

So it will require dodging, and Summit can warp space to stay away from the mini-sun.

Because Negation is pass/fail, it would either not effect it at all, or turn it into a 50% reduction.

it's also going to be very hard to dodge, for basically the same reason that Homing can get very hard to evade on the higher end of its pathfinding.
