Not looking to spend exp at this time. Which I am fine with. If we ever want to pick up Superslayer we need to practice some responsibility and patience.
It is actually viable to use Ranged Edition, combining Shred, Heavy Caliber, Priority Boost, Rain of Light to deal ~18k in damage (Multi Shot boosts it further to 54k), but as I said it may or may not run afoul of Intercept by virtue of being lots and lots of dakka directed at the enemy, aka not being hard to smack at least some of it back.
As for EXP... With 404 exp, difference of one level of Panoply is negligible, Curse (80 exp) is more of a gamble/gimmick on a longer conflict, spells are pointless, none of our levelable abilities (Flight, Ceaseless Warrior, Aegis Field, Inspect, Twisted Paths, Self-Repair) are relevant to a short battle, and in Shop...
Devour Magic is unlikely to apply, Tool-Assisted Spellcasting is as useless as spells, Standing Wave... 270+245... is out of our price range even if it could short-circuit the encounter potentially, and Cold Considerations is also bad for us.
EDIT: I am frankly more likely to invest into Twisted Paths than anything just to fulfill prerequisites.
Also about the boundary between the inside and outside
1) We might move out without crossing it by teleporting outside, but time dilation can and will have Insight and Red Rose suffer upwards of 20 rounds of battle, and I don't think them capable of surviving it easily. Escaping and sniping is not a good option.
2) Hard scifi (and justinkal) tell us crossing the boundary of time dilation bubble may have severely harmful effects on someone. I don't disagree even if I believe this damage will be less prominent the shorter transition time is. And the hardier the person attempting to cross it.
3) My general impression of Evil as an Affinity that effects it grants usually twist the metaphorical knife. Magical Girl Truth got a truth-field that affects her, everyone else around her, and prohibits her from even having self-deception. It is unpleasant. Fiodur had a spell that was literally evil clone creation. This should definitely apply here.
Set The Field is reliant on Vexing Postponement and interacts with spells cast on Ialemus, or at the field from without. And with the spellcasters.
Now, imagine if you will, an average Fairy spellcaster. You are caught inside a trap field of your enemy, a big honking demon barreling at you. What do you do since spells are useless?
You flee.
You probably cross the boundary. And wouldn't it be just the perfectly cruel outcome to have your spells, held in stasis by enemy, to discharge into you because you are trying to cross the boundary?
This, in addition to the usual nasty effects of attempting to cross time dilation boundary.
In response to feedback I'm doing a minor retcon on the foe. He's going from 5 Affinities to 4, losing Corruption. Evil will take up the slack anywhere Corruption used to be present.
Five Affinities was giving this guy too high of a rarity. No other changes are planned at this time.
It's been a bit since new votes, and it's rather one-sided, as the Tally shows.

[X] Plan One Hit Wonder, melee edition
-[X] General Concerns
--[X] At all times, avoid entering an Intercept Conflict with Ialemus. Avoid casting spells at him, or at all if you can. Move by flying because teleportation may cause him to react.
--[X] Use Prayer of Blades ability to free-negate attacks Ialemus makes at your own allies. Avoid Intercepting his attacks.
--[X] Ask Red Rose to avoid attacking or parrying him. Ask Insight to keep him still (Quantified Combat his actions to zero). You have a plan.
-[X] Actual Plan
--[X] Switch your Panoply to: Shred, Smash, Slash Hell, Priority Boost, Intercept.
---[X] Shred is to rip and tear (autokill). If Ialemus proves resistant to it, switch to Burn.
---[X] Use Priority Boost and Intercept combo to use Flurry - and deliver a single, overwhelmingly fast and strong attack like the one that killed Rat.

There's a splash of Ialemus' black blood hanging in the air. Only a small amount from Insight's bullet scraping along the back of his knee. Still, the physical result outstrips the depletion of his essential vitality. That opens up certain avenues of attack.
Hell Beasts are quite tough when fired upon, but if you can get a good grip on their necks it takes less than a tenth of the force to tear them in half. At which point it dies, regardless of how much vitality it holds.
Huh. That probably applies to yourself after a fashion. Another reason to be thankful that your Magical Girl state dissipates some attacks before they hit you.
He's going to react quickly, or at least you have to assume he will. Your speed needs to be truly overwhelming. If you can get a few good blows right below the ribcage that will set up grabbing organs and pulling them out. If. Speed is going to be everything, any power you can dredge up needs to be magnified by speed.
Urgency ticks higher as you plan out your blow. It's going to use everything you have, every bit of your Panoply, and as much of the physical portion as possible right at the end to get propelled at high speed. A good angle will let you interpose something between the demon and Red Rose. Insight probably has already planned to dive behind you.
You have to make your move. You have to hope you've thought of everything. If this goes well he's not going to move again. Short spikes of your weapon shoot into the ground, detach, and are left being as you push yourself faster along the immaterial threads that connect.

He blurs as you start your charge. He steadies himself up with one claw and blinks in fast forward. When the temporal acceleration wears off you're closer by eight meters and he's brought one of his claws up to block your attack.
You let the part of your Panoply that covers you slide off in its entirety. The foothold has ballooned in size behind you and propelled a solid chunk to propagate the lights of orange light. Your hair and labcoat flutter in the wake as the fast-moving mass rockets ahead, leaving its own trail of solid anchors.
The grip on the rocket-propelled Panoply becomes clumsy faster than you anticipated. Everything is already committed, leaving you little option besides trying to surge as much magic as you can call up into the guiding wires.
Ialemus appears calm while your assault sails right towards his outstretched arm. Confident in his strength to withstand you. A shriek of breaking glass and strained metal sounds out as your weapon rips itself apart into six large pieces and a small multitude of grip points. An explosive division that pushes each projectile off course from hitting him into merely bracketing him.
Speed is everything here. You can feel your protective field drain away to keep your weapon, arms and joints intact as you pull force through thin glowing guide wires. It surges tenfold when the pieces hit Ialemus' arm and the tension brings the wayward missiles into a tight curve.
It's not perfect. One part of your attack shatters in mid air. Another is caught by a wild swing from his other claw. The remainder extend barbs just as they impact.
You push with every iota of strength you possess to push the barbs deeper and wider. Time is running short for you. The monster on the other end of your extended weapon begins to act as you feel your capacity to move leave.
So you watch, hanging in mid-air as he reacts. He tries to jolt away, but your outstretched lines hold firm. He howls in pain, then pulls his arms back to pry out your barbs. The first comes free with a slurry of black ichor following.
Then you see horror in his eyes. Breath is failing him as neither head can chant. Red Rose's frozen spell begins to creep towards Ialemus. Voiceless screams fill both mouths as he brings one arm and then another to focus his power and keep the deadly effect at bay. It almost appears to work. Then the magic slips slightly closer and he tries to flap his wings and leap away.
In a tug of war Ialemus loses decisively. A large piece of his torso stays with two of your barbed extensions when he jolted away, a pair of black-coated membranes connected still. He loses coordination from the shock and tumbles onto his back.
The frozen spell returns to life and full potency. Red cuts through both of his claws, turning them into a cloud of bloody specks, then pierces his heart. With his death the dark filter around you vanishes.
Red Rose grunts and brings a hand to her bleeding wounds, scabbing them over with a touch.
"What did you do? What happened?" she asks after taking a breath.
"Summit happened." Insight chirps, "I brought her along for a reason."
You pull back your weapon from the corpse. It's troublesome that the claws were eradicated, you might have been able to use them. The blood spilling out has an odd interaction that is filling the nearby grass with a red color.
"Master! No!" a voice cries out.
More enemies. You lift yourself up and begin firing at the disorganized clumps, not bothering to surround yourself with your Panoply.
You can reach further than you had thought and still hold enough to protect yourself. It feels…
**Open
**Vulnerable
**Exposed
Amazing. Like you're a new person and your mind has taken flight.
Insight runs over to Red Rose. She pulls out a small stack of light green cards.
The demon that first cried out conjured some type of shield to deflect your attacks. You rake over the others with directed shots, a mistake. There's a sensation of dimensional transit from that point and the shield vanishes.
You clench your teeth in frustration and shift your Panoply into a ranged configuration to flatten the structures and harass some of the nearby hellgates for a moment. Orange light sweeps out from four wings as you glide from strands of magical force. After a double check shows no suitable targets you Shift back down to Insight and Red Rose.
"We need to move soon. Before we get targeted." you say. A moment of focus produces platforms for them.
"We are heading back." Red Rose says as she straps into the platform you had intended for Insight.
Insight jumps on the other platform and pantomimes surfing.
"There's another portal location."
"Bring someone else to deal with it."
"Yeah, that's something you couldn't have done an hour ago." Insight says, "Which makes it terrifying for everyone else involved."
You Shift away.
From above the landscape looks almost completely deserted. Hellgates are winking out of existence and the remaining demons are a chaotic jumble of barely-equipped grunts. There's still that oily feeling of active gateways, this place hasn't been abandoned yet.
A few more teleports return you to the center of all of this. A ghostly ring of shields hovers around ground zero. A 50 meter tall ...something, lies lifeless after being nearly shot in half. Lunar Radiance tears apart a crackling red hellgate with the jaws of her giant multi-headed snake form.
Juggernaut Drive, Solid Core, and Judgement Core are running loose circles up in the sky. Solid Drive and Judgement Drive are talking to one another while Goddess White watches and amuses herself by throwing and catching a large stone. Major Roberts, Samael, and Michael have dug themselves a trench, Lucky is presumably resting within it. Gabriel paces a bit back from Goddess White and Aquila is peering through a set of enchanted binoculars.
Maiden of the West and the snake girl aren't in the immediate area.
When you touch ground Red Rose unhooks herself and strides towards Samael's corner of the trench. Insight surries after with a hurried "bye!"
Goddess White gestures you over. You head over. Judgement Drive has her arms crossed and Solid Drive throws up her hands with exasperation.
"Oh. That's a nice look." Gabriel comments.
Solid Drive looks over at you. As does Judgement Drive.
"Good. You'll do. Someone has to start priming this end of the supergate and I have had no luck." Judgement Drive says
"Trying to get someone's attention?" Solid Drive teases, finishing with a bounce in place.
You glance downward momentarily, Insight starts giggling a bit behind you. Followed by Michael's laughter.
"What needs to happen at the supergate? Isn't it destroyed?"
"One, I don't know, that's where you come in. Two, yes and no. Each time a gate is added it's added to every other working gate. You could rebuild the whole system quickly from only one supergate if you controlled the destinations. It's the main reason making more is so damn expensive."
Goddess White chimes in, "Once the gate's mana tap is active the elves can block spells for weeks. Do try to get that working before the Dark Stars overlay an awful vacuum plane on top of us."
"No pressure!" Solid Drive says in a tone that suggests you should feel lots of pressure.

A/N: Y'all should thank Faraway-R for making the max-speed plan that avoids Intercept on melee attacks. As well as for making me convince myself to give you a damage bonus for that high speed.
The intended method was to set him on fire and cart Red Rose + Insight around to actually deal damage.

Though I say this expedition has been an all around disappointment for Summit.
She didn't get to fuse the Prison Artifact.
She didn't get to fuse the Claws of Ialemus.
She didn't even salvage all the stray weapons Grey tossed around I don't think.
And, both Grey and Red Rose turned out to be disappointments in their own ways. Not continuing the Portal removal, Red Rose, why?
She has a Vampire on her spell and Vampire conveniently removes body damage modifiers on a kill. "lost a bit of blood" really should count as such, because it's magic of a girl with Blood as an Affinity.
[X] EXP Plan Formidable Defenses and Spells (1660)
-[X] Upgrade Aegis Field to level 25 (1100 EXP)
-[X] Purchase Formidable Defenses (210 EXP)
-[X] Purchase Tool-Assisted Spellcasting (350 EXP)
For those not in the know, Formidable Defenses is a recurring upgrade that boosts Aegis Field and appears every 5 levels. It will improve health by 100 per level, and boost extra resilience by 5%. Giving net 1000+2500 health at this time.
[X] EXP Plan Warrior and Magic (1600 EXP)
-[X] Upgrade Ceaseless Warrior to level 25 (900 EXP)
-[X] Purchase Devour Magic (350 EXP)
-[X] Purchase Tool-Assisted Spellcasting (350 EXP)
This gives us 2000 health and boosts our defenses in a different way. Also, if the first plan was angling for Paragon, this one angles for Abomination capstone.
[X] EXP Plan Shop Clearance Sale (1600 EXP)
-[X] Purchase Devour Magic (350 EXP)
-[X] Purchase Tool-Assisted Spellcasting (350 EXP)
-[X] Purchase Tower of Will (630 EXP)
-[X] Upgrade Twisted Paths to level 15 (270 EXP)
And the aforementioned Shop Clearance Sale. Buying a few Shop items, and clearing the path to Standing Wave upgrade.
No, it is definitely spell last I checked. Spear has Return and HeroSlayer. Avatar of Victory has Vampire among other things, namely Rain of Blows and Affinity Kill.
Edit: quoted from first page of CWMGQ, spear and spell:
She has a Vampire on her spell and Vampire conveniently removes body damage modifiers on a kill. "lost a bit of blood" really should count as such, because it's magic of a girl with Blood as an Affinity.
Red Rose doesn't want her Avatar of Victory spell to have witnesses if she can help it.
She wanted a heal and Insight's health packs weren't cutting it.
Insight got Solar and Lunar Radiance into this mission, in her mind this was to persuade her to also join the attack. It's been about a day locked up and her patience with Insight (who didn't get locked away) was thoroughly depleted by the results of the most recent fight.
Summit picking out targets for her has landed her in tricky situations twice in less than five minutes. She'd like to pick out her next fights on her own, superstition or no.

Abilities
Set the Board Time
-When Vexing Postponement is being channeled Ialemus may draw nearby foes into a realm of accelerated time.
(Casting a spell at him when this effect is active draws the caster into the fight. Time runs oddly, but usually at 8 to 20 times regular speed)
Move and Countermove Time
-Any creature affected by Set the Board only receives 1 Action per Turn. Any time a foe takes an action Ialemus receives a free action. If any effect would reduce available actions below zero it instead reduces actions to zero and Ialemus receives a number of free actions equal to how negative the actions went.
Delayed Effect Time
-Any spells cast at Ialemus while Set the Board is active are automatically caught by Vexing Postponement and held according to that spell effect.
Higher Stakes Conquest
-Ialemus may roll MM an additional time for each spell held by Vexing Postponement and add these rolls together.
Woe to the Feeble! Conquest
-Creatures smaller than Ialemus have their Base Damage reduced to 1 when attacking Ialemus.
Woe to the Challengers! Conquest
-Multiply MM by 100 while Ialemus is fighting foes larger than himself.
Intercept
-Catch an Incoming attack with one of your own. Deal the difference in damage as unblockable damage to the loser
Hardpoint: Claws Blood
-Attacks that only hit Ever-Bloody Claws do no damage and inflict no effects. Ever-Bloody Claws reform at the start of Ialmus' turn if damaged or broken.
(Why, yes. There is a stupid interaction with Intercept there. Hope you have splash damage or a lot of skill!)
Anyway, while @Faraway-R has made several plans to up heath/defenses or pick up more abilities, I'm leaning more towards investing to actually get one of our long term picks:
[x] Plan Lengthy investment
-[x] Upgrade Panoply to level 44 (410+420+430+440= 1700)
Its not sexy, but its 1700 xp closer to getting Superslayer
To be fair, all of my plans contribute at least in some manner to one of longer term picks - Paragon (plan that raises Aegis Field), Abomination (plan that raises Ceaseless Warrior) and Intense Wave upgrade of Wave Force (plan that raises Twisted Paths).
I also believe that most people would prefer Slayers to be purchased as necessary (as hard to kill opponents appear).
P.S. I have no arguments against leveling Panoply besides having alternate options to spend on.
It is a fair concern. Though you'd think Insight definitely knows and Summit prefer to leave no witnesses anyway, not to mention I doubt there were any opponents who would live through Avatar of Victory to appreciate the Super attached to it. Did she want to keep Summit unaware?
Okay, fair if we take reason #1 at face value.
So she's pissed off at Insight and wants time to decompress.
And she doesn't appreciate feeling like... Like she probably did in her early days again considering Old Guard backstory is being thrown into the deep end like Solid Core.
[X] Have your Panoply outstretched and leveraged for faster actions
[X] EXP Plan Warrior and Magic (1600 EXP)
-[X] Upgrade Ceaseless Warrior to level 25 (900 EXP)
-[X] Purchase Devour Magic (350 EXP)
-[X] Purchase Tool-Assisted Spellcasting (350 EXP)
Not much to say except this should have been expected. Giving people a large toolkit and a boss that is supposed to be a grindfest almost always leads to one little thing not considered breaking the encounter in half.
