Ber is not going to attack for two weeks. Rihaku eyeballed Hunger being able to defeat Ber with two EFBs. We did it before, we'll do it again. It is actually easier this time since both Silver and ADS have a lot of discounts.

Seriously, we overcame the temple in two weeks. From a much shittier position of having no EFB discounts and having to spend on FB and B options to Not Die immediately. If anything, it is fairly likely we'll have Bearik-Defeating Stance done by the end of the first, if event-chain continues to be as dense as it is now.

Huh... I wonder if the Lucent Thorn is the X-Type that was mentioned in the report? Maybe that's what the the Temple people were worried about; a ringkiller coming around. Because while they might have wanted one at the very dawn of their civilization, to end the Ring-bearer they ran into and then afterwards probably Plerion... by now, they base their civilization around the Ring and so they wouldn't want it gone.

If that's not it though, then I gotta ask @Rihaku -- what the heck is an X-Type that was in the report?

And also, what was up with the report papers in the first place? Was there something weird or conspiratorial about, or was there just somebody in the camp good enough to sneak into the Inner Residence and steal stuff from them?

I of course want the biggest and the coolest fights and this is it. Though I can see the thread is chickening out and not even thinking about Apoc-chans feelings.

I despise this pick, but apparently it is the best.

That isn't a valid pick ya know.

Just gotta convince the thread to stop spending Arete like we're Young Masters with a charmed life.

Sure. Silver -> Trinity -> ADS/OaF, depending on our Arete and the circumstances at the time. Bearic gets himself put directly into the toilet.

You see, @Prospalz does make a good point that currently we have two discounted EFB's plus Trinity. If we make a simple commitment to not buying any 7 Arete options until then, we can make towards them at a resonable pace, especially if we are able to push during critical moments. That is plenty enough to keep up with Ber, especially allied to any aggressive training options. We have at least two-weeks of prep, likely more, so that's time enough. That also delays Praxis by a lot, but that's a fine sacrifice to make.

We don't need incredible discipline, just this simple rule:

No more 7 Arete options. We do that, we win. Get it?
So, what I've gotten is that every single option but Ber risks screwing us horribly.

And Ber will screw us unless the thread gets it together.

This is very frustrating.
That's Apocryphal!

An enemy they had no chance against whatsoever. A true OCP.

Huh, it seems people are naturally drawn towards the most dangerous option no matter what, even if they need some combinatorics to get it.

I'm not going to mince words, Kill-team plus Rotbeast is likely going to be very painful. For us and for the characters. Due the worst possible things happening at the worst possible time due to the Apocryphal Curse, the destruction of the Sovereignty is a very real possibility. It's also the most lethal choice to our companions by far. Only vote for it if you are okay with the deaths of Gisena, Letrizia and Aeira. Only vote for it if you are fine with destroying another civilization.

It's gonna be hellish.

Ring can only be taken with One, hence not a valid vote.
I chose Wait because I don't like One or Two. But seeing as I know Wait isn't going to win, I have chosen the Ring to influence the One or Two vote. This way I am voting for the options I like most without them influencing each other. At least until Rihaku eliminates them.

Also, neither has any hope so it really doesnt matter even if they were invalid.

I don't know if that's necessarily true: I haven't voted yet (still deciding...), but it certainly seems like we have the opportunity to play these two off against one another. If the Kill-Team is lounging in the hot springs when the Rotbeast attacks, we have the opportunity to leverage them against it -- perhaps in exchange for forcing the Elixir Sovereignty to accept nominal surrender to the Empire, even? If so, we'd defray the Apocryphal proc while losing nothing of value!

Nah, that's cowards talk, it's going to be glorious. Just think of the Feat based R A N K, picks and unique advancements we might get for winning such an clusterfuck.

Just do what we did in the fight against Evangeline and Sten. Focus on taking down one of the opponents, grow stronger from it and go after the next one in line! It's very suited to Hunger's playstyle!

It's been made pretty clear that that vote combination is a bad idea.

Also the kill team is Republic so you are very confused.

We're not going to be able to persuade or trick the Kill Team to fight the Rotbeast though, at the first sign of shit, their first priority is going to be to extract their cargo by whatever means necessary. It's significantly more likely that they'll use it against us, leveraging the danger it represents to get us to leave, assuming they don't just take a bunch of hostages and force the issue. COnsidering the blurbs, the likely chain of events is going to be something like us procing Doom of the Tyrant against the Kill-Team -> the fight brings in a bunch of highschoolers who get taken hostage -> the Rotbeast attacks.

Prolly the safest one, we have Charisma and Gleam to help negate the hit to our reputation. We can fight alongside Versh considering how much we have healed him. We can take down the Rotbeast and win rank and the love of the populace.

Why wouldn't they just run away? Further, they are a Republic team, what do they care about the Elixiereans surreding to the Empire? Even if they were an Empire team, why is defending and bringing this place back into the fold more important than actually competing their top-secret mission?

Additionally, the very option states that the Sovereignty wants to get the Armor Prototypes. There will be a fight given the slightest provocation, Apocryphal will make sure of that, and any fight will see the teenage Surgecrafters deployed as it's their most powerful assets. Letrizia and Aeira knew these people, y'know.

We won't be able to pit them against one another; the most likely outcome is a three way fight. A bloody one; since it's a black ops team here, they won't have any mercy towards teens or even against civilian targets.

This is literally stated:
It looks like screwing over the Sovereignty is winning right now, but have you considered the psychological impacts on Hunger himself? Not to mention poor Aeira, or Letrizia for whom many of her friends will invariably die if Hunger is unable to contain the chaos and devastation... the damage to Hunger's mental-state could far outweigh the physical risk. On the other hand, Ber can be outscaled, Lucent Thorn outrun, and there's always Waiting as well!

So no, this is the most immediately dangerous combination. Only vote for it if you don't particularly care about what we lose.

Safest is choosing Ber and the thread following a proper build path for two IC weeks.

Just gotta convince the thread to stop spending Arete like we're Young Masters with a charmed life.

Spaghetti from our pockets.
Consider the following;

We bought Cut Through+Undiscounted Flare while being forced to pick a bunch of lesser options to Not Die inside of the Temple. Something like... 60 arete total? Slightly less, I think. A bunch of picks, too.

Silver of The Evening+All Defeating Stance costs 32 Arete and 1 pick.

The circumstances are similar; we got told we need an EFB to survive during our Vacation trip, so we saved for Cut Through. Then Rihaku was like "Ehh, you need another one" and we saved for Undiscounted Flare.

Now Rihaku says "Well, you'll probably gank Bearic if you had two EFBs" and wats dis, we actually have two very discounted EFBs we actually were aiming for right in our reach. We even have approximately the same wiggle space for opportunity purchases as in the Temple!

This is just a straight-up good option, IMO.
