@ImperatorV I am not the kind of person who could deal with the Apocryphal Curse and would soon find myself cognitohazarded by Gisena in Real World Conditions I suspect. If it was my own life on the line though I might have no choice but to deal with it from a pragmatism standpoint though. I'd probably go for a Regalia or Seven Seals build.

I would not have the benefit of even being mauveshirt tier in Battle Mastery/Accretion/Seven Seals without a remittance

Having seen what the ring of Hunger did to Hunger's incentive structure, I'm leery of it. If I was doing on the Wish Route, I'd probably end up spending 2 Accursed Wishes with the 3 Wishes Remittance for power and altering my mind to be able to handle my new circumstances.

On curses:

Doom of Lunacy probably wouldn't make much of a difference given my circumstances/lack of psychological fitness for this role. The Berserker state may actually be useful. Given my own perceived lack of aptitude for subtlety, it's an open question how much I'd be missing if I took the Plenary Brand.

Affliction of Slumber/Brand of the Champion would be on some step below DoL/Plenary Brand

I'd like to think Decimator's Affliction and Doom of the Tyrant are bottom tier options for me, with Doom of the Tyrant being above Decimator's Affliction in terms of my willingness to take one of them due to the ability to mitigate it by hiding from people.

On Greater Remittances:

Praxis is obviously not an option and I've already explained 3 Wishes. That just leaves King's Scepter or Regalia. Intensify may actually prove to be necessary for me depending on build setups.

Build Plans for King's Scepter:

Accretion Routes

Muscle Wizard - Having done Martial Arts in the distant past, I'd be seriously considering the Muscle Wizard route(Intensify, Retinue, Relinquishment). For my Curses I'd go for some pair from Doom of Lunacy+Plenary Brand+Brand of the Champion, probably Plenary Brand and Doom of Lunacy

Plenary Brand
Doom of Lunacy

Intensify
Retinue
Relinquishment

Non-Muscle Wizard - I'm going to need a Panopoly for this one and probably a weapon too. Talon+Forebear's Blade, which just leaves my last Remittance. I'd need Retinue due to being nowhere near interesting enough to attract the companion options otherwise but then I wouldn't be able to afford a companion via Remittance. I'd probably have best social odds working with Catherine without the benefit of Retinue. So I guess I'd take Catherine, or gamble on being able to find somebody I convince to work with me with the power of Retinue. Talon's an important parts of making stuff like Brand of the Champion and Doom of the Tyrant manageable so I can't use intensify. Doom of Lunacy can fark with more stuff on a build like this, so that leaves setups like Plenary Brand+Brand of the Champion, or Plenary Brand+Doom of the Tyrant(Ugh)

Plenary Brand
Brand of the Champion or Doom of the Tyrant

Talon
Forbear's Blade
Catherine or Retinue

Seven Seals/Imprisoner Route

Prolessarch Route - My last remittance here would either be Forebear's Blade or Retinue. From a Curse standpoint, Plenary Brand seems mandatory for me to convince him I'm interesting enough to travel with. Affliction of Slumber+Plenary Brand+Retinue, get powerful fast enough to potentially get stage 1 curse mitigation without Forbear's Blade, and get somebody to guard me in my sleep with Retinue. Alternatively, I take Forbear's Blade and Brand of the Champion instead of Affliction of Slumber, do my own curse mitigation so I don't have to do as much to pay Prolessarch for his insight or can make him immune.

Plenary Brand
Affliction of Slumber(A) or Brand of the Champion(B)

Prolessarch
Retinue(A) or Forbear's Blade(B)

Non-Prolessarch Route - This setup opens up room for several scenarios. I could bribe Gisena with Retinue and use the Forbear's blade to get curse mitigation easily. She'd also be a training partner for social picks given the endgame. I could be Catherine's support mage and get involved in whatever the fark is going on with Procyon and House Amarlt, or meet whoever the mystery box armament pilots are for other curses. The Hunger Ring may be worth it on this route. It was described as providing tangible progression advantages to Seven Seals.

Plenary Brand
Doom of the Tyrant

Forbear's Blade
Retinue
Gisena

I'd also be considering Catherine Routes but Gisena probably has the strongest long term potential in my circumstances.

Build Plans for Regalia:

Regalia has 3 Variations

A. 2 Bad End Rewinds, a superpower of moderate strength weaker than the Kings Scepter and a bonus lesser Remittance(Meaning I'd have 4)
B. 1 Bad End Rewind, 2 superpowers of moderate strength weaker than the Kings Scepter and a bonus lesser Remittance(Meaning I'd have 4)
C. 1 Bad End Rewind, a superpower of moderate strength weaker than the Kings Scepter and 2 bonus lesser Remittances(Meaning I'd have 5, I have no idea what I'd do with this many Remittances so I'm not coming up with a build for it. )

I'm not sure what kinds of superpowers I could and couldn't ask for but some perceived candidates are: Surgecraft Elements(Shadowcord, Vigorflame, Edeldross, Roilweft, Fullmight, Inksky with the Mantle Included), Lesser Soul Evocations like the Librarian or the Correspondent(I'm writing off Sten's Soul Evocation and the power of the Imprisoner as too strong to ask for in Regalia), Amplitude and Chromatic Aberration from the original AST, Some level of Chyrsopoeia development, and initiation into Findross Sorcery.

Non-Rihakuverse powers I think may be viable here - Sabrina's Grief manipulation power from PMAS with an alternative method than soul gems for generation of grief. Accelerator/Level 5-Tier Vector Control or Kakine Teitoku/Level 5-Tier Dark Matter is presumably too powerful for Regalia. King's Scepter is a maybe.

Plan A(2 Bad End Rewinds)

Chromatic Aberration
2 Bad End Rewinds

Talon
Retinue
Gisena
Relinquishment

Plenary Brand or Doom of the Tyrant
Affliction of Slumber

This route gives me a very strong safety margin, vacation time, Chromatic Aberration removing my need for food/water/air means my ability to use my awake hours after Gisena provides stage 1 Affliction of Slumber mitigation is improved, Talon gives us the ability to build up wealth and resources grinding in the Voyaging Realm. Talon also might let me render enemies into Findross.

Plan B(2 Superpowers)

Chromatic Aberration
Roilweft, alternatively some Rihakuverse analog to Kakine Teitoku or Sabrina from PMAS's power(They seem cut from a similar cloth), maybe Edeldross this one's hard to decide
1 Bad End Rewind

Talon
Retinue
Gisena
Relinquishment

Plenary Brand or Doom of the Tyrant
Affliction of Slumber

This one is basically the same as plan A but some of my safety margin gets sacrificed for more power via what I imagine to be Vista and Fujino Asagami's power mixed together and hopped up on steroids. It gives me the ability to travel through space without needing a ship either by direct teleportation or taking the semi-long way and risking my sanity. I might consider Doom of Lunacy as an alternative to affliction of Slumber on a regalia route.

"We did it Gisena! We saved the city."
THE VOTERS: "Hi, I'd like the 'do you feel like a hero yet?' combo platter to go, thanks."

HUNGER: "Powerlessness, guilt, and anguish set to the sounds of the dying... yes, this is what heroism feels like."
For the super Bearic combo. He shall defeat the Ring-Lord!
Sten doesn't have many tears left in him, but he'll shed one for Bearic. That poor child, so naive and optimistic, still believing his companions can be avenged. The Ring-Lord is inevitable.

Either just the rotbeast or just the kill team is probably the best course of action. We can beat either without the sovereignty getting destroyed in the process.

[X] One
[X] Republic Kill-Joys

Rihaku has finally defeated me. I... no longer want to fight the Rotbeast. ;_; (not back-to-back-to-back with Mizuku and the Killteam, at least)

Yes people lets vote to empower a person that sees are allies as experience pinatas. We didn't vote to encounter the archer dude because we're scared that he will just snipe our friends but if its Ber thats going to go after them its ok!

Bearic and Ring-Lord are both no gos for me. They would be cool but I don't want to spend the Praxis picks, gimme that Imperial Praxis!

I'm starting to lean towards kill team, it seems like the one that best matches what we've been picking. Charisma and Gleam to mitigate chance of bad rep, Artifice to unlock the armor.

Plus I'm interested in that captured mage, though I know I shouldnt be.

Probably the worst of the lot honestly. We've already been told that the real culling portions of the Apocryphal come from its most serious procs; this would likely have us deal with one of those, which would require significant and sensible scaling on our part. Probably the only one I'm actually against taking.

[ ] Republic Kill-Joys - The Elixir Sovereignty attracts all manner of wandering adventurer and aspirant petitioner seeking relief and regeneration at its famously potent healing springs. Among them, this Republic Kill-Team, armed to the teeth with devastating battle-augs and equipped with top-of-the-line Republic military Armor Prototypes! Embrace the power of L.U.L. and show these imperial bootlickers traitors that only the Free(tm) know truly how to party!

*Itchy trigger finger. Wouldn't the Sovereignty love to get their hands on the equipment these boys & girls are packing?
*Thus, righteous paranoia and relaxation are the order of the day! And there's that mage they're trying to smuggle out...
*Add a Tyrannical hero with no inclination to obey Republic authority into the mix and ka-blam! A sure-fire recipe!
*It'll be interesting to see how they fare against the Surges of the itinerant band, even more so when the high schoolers join the fray!
*A marvelous free-for-all of rollicking Free(tm)-spirited destruction!
*Our hero might be able to claim one of those top-grade Armor Prototypes with the help of his Sorceress friend! Artifice, how gross!!
I recall something about butterfly effects from the republic being able to actually extract that mage, getting another chance to avoid that would be quite nice. On the other hand, this is liable to end with a bunch of dead highschoolers as the adults send them in against a trained kill team due to their monsterous greed. Might be unfortunate for Hunger, especially if he's the one that ends up triggering the fight or they manage to draw him into it.

On the other hand, if we choose to overthrow the Sovreignty's government (as diplomacy puts us on track to doing), our raw charisma and lack of hostility might let us avoid a fight, so long as we keep the actions away from the Kill Team and thus minimise the risks of their itchy trigger fingers. Wouldn't be at all possible if Hunger is fighting the Rotbeast simultaneously though.

[ ] Prestige Classing - Looks like poor Bearic has fallen behind! Still two weeks 'till he hits level cap and our hero is almost stronger than even that! Well, that simply won't do, looks like our friend Bearic needs an extra leg up. Something to really fire up his mettle and make him an opponent worthy of our dastardly Ring-Lord! You call it cheating, he calls it haxx; bust out you best Santa cosplay, 'cause Christmas is comin' early and Apocryphal Claus is going to be very, very nice to one particularly undeserving gamer. Cheer up Ber, your System may not be up to the task, but you've a far greater friend in your corner and she's coming through in the clutch! Avenge Seralize and all the others, and take back the title of Blue Swordsman from that one-eyed brooding hack!

*Conservation of antagonists, an important skill to learn for any budding Curse!
*Wouldn't you like to see Ber reach massively exceed his full potential? No matter who's defeated, the winner's going to get an absolute truckload of Experience...
*He still won't attack until he hits level cap. What a fruitfully assiduous boy! Could take a bit.
*Oooh, we just can't wait to see his disgustingly overpowered new capabilities brought to light! Make it a showdown worthy of the ages!
*With how fast 'Lord Hunger' grows, it might be possible for him to still outscale Ber after all this, if he steers his build optimally...
*Pfhaha. Like that's going to happen.

Probably gonna be rough without an omake surge or two to minimise the damage involved. On the other hand, so long as we continue to take +STATS and +RANK options while making sure to save, it might be possible to do so without that. Our build has ended up somewhat synergistic and getting to Silver followed by a strong Trinity choice followed by ADS would likely ensure we're competitive. So long as we can avoid going off track to open lateral capabilities, this is pretty doable, even without spending Praxis picks, especially if we work towards powering up Verschlengorge some.

[ ] Keepin' it Simple - Yyyuup, we're just going to dump the perfect buffing-type Surgecrafter into the Rotbeast's clutches and have it roll on out! With its Rank and general parameters substantially increased, its mountain-range sized bulk will finally achieve full mobility and rain destruction as a walking charnal tide upon the poor Sovereignty! Let's show this Hero who's boss (hint: it's not him!!).

*KAIJU. GUD.
*Another boring Kaiju event... surely you can do better than this, Apocryphal... ! But even if you can't, we all still love you!
*Work down that ablative population, baby!
*This'll totally screw up his Rank-gaining ways...
*...As long as he doesn't save them.
*But if he does, maybe you can spin him as an enemy of the Empire!
*You're a genius! There's no way to lose.
*Will probably offer him a lot of "picks" if he does win. Like, three or four. Yuck.

The most straightforward option. Kill beeg monster, get beeger gainz. Would be horrible for us if we fuck up though and I think Rihaku's wrath at us killing off Aobaru might end up being worse than the Apocryphal! That said, failing would really, really fuck our boy up to high heavens. The potential spin on our actions is probably the most worrisome part though, we already know Letrizia has some serious political enemies out there, being able to spin us as an enemy of the Empire could actually end up kicking off a civil war. That would be a problem for later though and something solvable through diplomacy. I doubt they'd be able to send any serious shit after us while we're in the Voyaging Realm though, if only for the questions that might raise.

[ ] Lucent Thorn - The deadly A-class blade which hunts Ring and wielder alike has set its eyes on Miss Gisena Allria, wielder of the Azure! Lest the horrors of unbound Artifice be loosed upon the universe again, Justice Blade Lucent Thorn is here to punish you in the name of the True Moonlight! Will the evil Sorceress-Queen Gisena finally be felled? Or will her comtract with the devastating handsome and also evil Ring-Lord Hunger allow her to cling to unseemly life!? Find out next time in several dozen more episodes!

*Lucent Thorn has its own agenda and sees fit to chart its own course, defying recommendations despite your nigh-omniscience and sound judgement! Hmph!!
*It's also slow af. Gotta work its way from wielder to wielder alllllll the way across the Voyaging Realm...
*But once this good boy finds a Fairbright worthy champion, ohhh boy. You won't be ready. The world won't be ready. And Hunger's body certainly won't be ready! Unless he works on the Praxis a lot...
*Strength matters not! The nigh-limitless power of Hope, Love, and Determination shall strike down the cruel Rings, implements of naked Power made manifest, right where they stand! This time, a two-for-one special...
*In Realm Voyaging, 5-pick fight runs at you! Let's hope our hero doesn't just outpace this one, though it can tangle in the Human Sphere if it has to!

A pretty underrated option honestly. Lucent Thorn seems somewhat resistant to the Apocryphal's whims, which means it might actually be possible to diplomacy our way out of this situation. The sheer amount of time it would take is quite nice too, though the fact that it seems to transcend the forms of strength we've got access to is really, really rough. I'd really prefer not spending our Praxis picks until we have a lot more on hand. On the other hand, the exuberant encouragement to work on the Praxis might actually help encourage investment there...

[ ] Ring War - That's a nice Ring you got there. Would be a shame if someone... ruled it.

*Have Asterios experience a truly massive and unjustifiable breakthrough, starting the contest of Primacy!
*Our Hero must war, lest he bow to the new king among Rings!
*Force him into the Human Sphere where all manner of complication awaits!!
*Especially the thing with Letrizia's - oops, can't think about that.
*Requires [ ] One. There can only be one Ruling Ring.

Oof, seems like Letrizia's family is having it rough. Might be worth it just to preempt whatever is going on there. That we don't instantly lose with this is encouraging, we might be able to stall long enough to outscale the issue entirely. If nothing else, healing Versch sooner would only do good things for us. Otherwise, quite rough. Good to have intel on our primary opponent though.

Current vote count?

*Praxis will give us an avenue to stop this. (Probably Imperial Praxis and then getting an option from the set that gives us.)

Hm... but is Praxis greed really the solution here?

in that order. 10% reduction in power might make a 4 pick fight manageable, and a 20% reduction is tremendous in reducing Tyrant proc chance.

It won't affect Tyrant proc chance at all!

Oh and for those voting for Lucent Thorn remember that its capable of switching host and to defeat the evil Ring Lords what better wielder than an Arnament Pilot or maybe a user of a stealthy Imaginary Element.

Hey @Rihaku, if the Rotbeast captures Mizuku do we get the Arete for Diplomacy refunded? An important consideration if the captured Surgecrafter is indeed him.

That Rotbeast+Kill-team is a massive gamble that the Sovereignty will stay somewhat intact after a Super-kaiju and a super-soldier kill team are done with it, so we'd get maximum rewards. Since the Rotbeast is mountain-sized, even a kill outside the city proper can screw them up something fierce depending on how the geography is affected; troublesome given this is the Apocryphal Curse after all. And if we add possible casualties from fighting the Kill-team, things start looking rough.

So I think the solo Republic team is the best option here. Guarantees we'd leverage Gleam and still may give us good rewards in the form of Armor Prototypes and that captured mage.

Set a Ring-Lord to catch a Ring-Lord, that's what I always say. If they already know how to use a sword, so much the better. And he's so handsome... Lucent Thorn's gotta redeem Lord Hunger to take down the Dark Lady Gisena!

@Orm Embar a last minute edit means my response is 1223 Words.
Updated, thanks.
It won't affect Tyrant proc chance at all!
Hm, looking back at their initial description, it's not that bad:
*Diplomatic Difficulty: Medium, but Tyrant proc possible (10-20%)
Of course, they'll be twitchier within the Sovereignty's borders, but I do want to meet this mage they're trying to extract. What admirable cognitive dissonance, to with one hand proclaim the virtues of Liberty while conducting extraordinary rendition with the other!

Gonna take a page from our QM's book and stan for the least popular option!

Ring War is actually very good! We get a preview of the mechanics of the Ring War without being the primary target, letting us calibrate our own expectations and plan before we take Ruling Ring. This is an invaluable intelligence-gathering opportunity! Moreover, the crisis of someone else taking Ruling Ring will force the major factions of both the Human Sphere and the Voyaging Realm (and let's be honest, there's 100% some kind of late game super Foremost magitech killbot or something hidden in the Voyaging Realm) into action, giving us intelligence on their capabilities and goals!

Plus it gives us an excuse to diplomance other Ringbearer, and we can use them as meatshields against the Ruling Ringbearer, since they'll obviously also want to stop him from winning the dominance contest! It'll reduce our own competition when we take Ruling Ring.

In conclusion, maybe Ring War is good?

Hm... but is Praxis greed really the solution here?

Heretic! Praxis Greed is always the answer!

Losing the war of Primacy might lock out Ruling Ring, though (or at least make it unwieldy and difficult to take).

You should consider One + Prestige Classing. It'll force you to build synergistically! That's like a hidden advantage, and you definitely can outsacle Ber with Trinity + a synergistic EFB. He's not attacking for at least two more IC weeks, and likely longer!

But Rihaku, I know I suggested it, but that's playing with fire-
