Man, I really wished the build vote had already been decided; my motivation for it and the vote in general is shot.

I kind of want to show mercy here anyway. We don't need to repeat the manners of the past just because it is more convenient; isn't a benefit of power freeing one to do what's right instead of what's "necessary"? We don't need the power of the Ring right now; no need to let the greed becomes us. Having the Ring deal with it's hate is the helthyest for both of us long-term, and I I want to pursue that; even if it suboptimal now, we have the power to make those kind of choices, at least in this instance. No need for anything else.

Just let the Ring heal and don't worry about power. We can get that elsewhere. But healing the Ring will require the kinds of choices we have in front of us today.

Besides, I do want to see the rings grow beyond their nature, and Rest is the start of that. I wouldn't want to squander such an opportunity.

Join the SAVE gang with Avenger + Subordinate today! Think about all the Arete you'll be getting for absolute F R E E while the Ring empowers Gisena/Letrizia/Aeira massively!

I view that as something the Apocryphal Curse and Geas of Indenture have denied us
Absolutely untrue. Hunger has the power to outscale both curses, and in fact commented on his power allowing him to take the merciful option just a few updates ago.

Hunger is not the sort to take the easy way out, when the right way can be taken; and claiming that these curses he accepted are such a burden that he cannot afford to have mercy, to be a hero, is antithetical to his character.

I'd like to avoid future Ring-related headaches as much as possible, thanks. If all our problems reduce themselves to being able to punch good I'd be happy.

It is likely that the Ring is perfectly willing to stomach this, given how much better it is than the alternative of the Vise! Beyond that, we're giving it the same treatment that it used to give to other things. The Azure Ring would do this to us, given the chance!

Also, we already have superhuman Will and Wits, and will be getting more of these pluses in the future!

However if we're nice to the ring we may be able to get even more rewards in the future. Anime has proved the fact that kindness and love offer far greater rewards than being an ass. Therefore letting the ring rest can be considered to be the most lucrative option.

Edit: also we probably will be giving the ring to one of our friends. Do we really want to essentially turn one of them into our servant?

"They'd do it to me" is not an excuse to treat someone, whether human or not, however you want.

A lion would eat you, if given the opportunity. That's not an excuse to go hunting one, even if you happen to find yourself in the savannah.

The power of the SAVE gang... could not be denied...
I deny it! Get thee behind me, devil('s advocate)!

Edit: also, imagine the power of two Rings working together. Not just until one Ring recovers or overtakes the other, but in perpetuity, at full power.

The blurb already states that letting the Azure Ring rest will inspire it to consider a reality where Rings can work together instead of against one another.

Don't you want to see such a reality? A better reality? We can take the first step towards it, here and now. Or we can perpetuate the cycle of exploitation.

Well, yeah. But it's an excuse not to feel bad to put them on the pyre for extra points! Besides, hunting a lion is hard. But we've already got the Ring in our hands!

We could get rewards in the future, or 10 Arete's worth of scaling benefits now (that also scale into the future)! Perhaps Anime proves love and kindness are good, but this is a story of Age and Treachery, and we literally burned down a civilization to get our reward!

And... yes. I don't mind turning one of our friends into our servant.

However, I'm amenable to letting the Ring rest. If Ruler and Vassal is winning, I will vote Subordination, but otherwise I will vote Rest!

You actually avoided burning it down! That's the power of Larissa!

Though whether they can maintain their enhanced lifespans or living standard...

What are you doing not voting for every maximum Arete options, Unelemental, one might ask? It's a question of what I'm willing to spend Arete on, my friends. For example, Letrizia's soup is worth every point! My opinion would have been different if it cost 2 Arete, of course. But right now supply and demand seem to favor her.

As for the Ring, while I try to avoid the explicit Dark Lord option, we've got to lay down the law or it will think we're a wimp. Rule number one: we need more Arete...

We will also be conquering several planetary systems! Ultimately, it does not meet the threshhold for doing something exceptionally immoral. Either go hard, or go home, friends!

Very tangential, @Rihaku , but it was noted earlier that our Ring mitigated the strength of the Call, making it intelligible and resistible -- and, moreover, that the adventurers of the Encampment go to great lengths to distract themselves from it.

Does Hunger know if Gisena and Letrizia have been dealing with it in relatively psychologically healthy ways? I know everyone seemed quite happy on the vacation, but I'm suddenly still concerned...
