[X] The Blade

The Eminence is a bit more cruel than I expected, and in the end I'm fine with the blade.

It's true that subjecting Sten to a fraction of the Ring's intentions is inhumane, but considering all that the Ring has suffered, would you truly deny it this catharsis? Sten actively worsened its obligations by forcing it to show him Fate/Stay Night! There are those who would say he's got what's coming to him.

[X] Oops, the Soup

Friendship ended with Letrizia, Verschlengorge is my waifu now.

Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen.

[X] The Avenger

Live and grow strong. So let's take the guaranteed victory, so that we may live and finally get out of this stupid Temple.

Win buttons are so rare, and this one's the cheapest of the lot!

It's a Ring not a human, so as with Verschlengorge human psychology doesn't apply. It being a moral imperative that we end the torture doesn't necessitate that the Ring needs to be inactive to recover.

Yup, and it would really be a shame to gain so little from the rescue of the Ring.

[X] Oops, the Soup
[X] The Blade
[X] Ruler & Vassal

toughest decision was definitely sad Letrizia vs bored/hungry Versch ;n;

I might flop on any of these options

You're denying Letrizia her soup? How could you? :(

Why are you Let It Rest voters treating the Ring as human? Not to sound bad but treating it nicely reduces what we can get from it and if you are worried about the Hatefulness remember that Gisenna has Nullity to moderate its effect. At least pick Ruler and Vassal.

Subordination is exactly what the Azure would have done to the Crimson if their positions were reversed. Maximal gain for manageable downside. Do unto others...

It is best one keeps to one's deals.

Hatefullness can be reduced with other means for a time and I am leery of maximizing the Ring's suffering.

If going Ruler and Vassal already, you could use the extra Arete from Soup... Trinity could be around the corner!

[ ] The Avenger - The nature of reciprocal debts is this: pay back friendship and enmity both ten times over. As friendship unanswered will soon lie fallow, so too do wrongs unavenged invite further exploitation. The obverse face of the cycle of vengeance is the gormless victim upon whom injustice heaps endlessly. This man subjected the Ring your sibling to exhaustion without surcease, an unending forced march that would be torment by the first day, let alone the millionth. Let him reap even a fraction of what he has sowed. Dismember him in mind and body until his shattered husk can resist you no longer. All shall know that to profane a Ring is a crime beyond reckoning, and fear the consequences thereof.
[X] Let It Rest

Tentative argument for let it rest. Just imagine that, having lost his family, Lord Hunger endeavor to create a new one of rings and bearers both working in harmony with absurd powers made all the better by potentially synergetic effects from the rings working together as friends rather than as ruler and ruled or master and slave. Also it would be a nice long term narrative and might even net us a crew who could come with hunger on future adventures. Also the thoughts of the absurd sorts of tech we could build by combining curse nonsense with ring nonsense with Formost tech seems interesting, though that is more an aside to my argument.

Also, also, how does having a ring work for someone who doesn't use accretion? Is it automatically accretion? Or similar? Or is there some other way it works? Speaking of, how would accretion work without the ring of blood? Would we get picks through training as well as feats? Does the training Malus and combat bonus apply to the other rings? Or does time have time shenanigans to make training more effective or something?

A deal fairly struck ought to be fairly honored, particularly by the great and strong.

Not really relevant, but man Bloodwraith would've been awesome here, our Artifacts shift with us when we die, so if we still had blood buffs we could've just switched forms to regain the ring.

Subordination is exactly what the Azure would have done to the Crimson if their positions were reversed. Maximal gain for manageable downside. Do unto others...

Yeah, it didn't deserve the eternal torture, that doesn't mean it doesn't deserve a shitty hiring contract though.

Guys Oops the Soup gives 1 Arete plus Avenger being the cheapest and safest option combined with either Ruler and Vassal or Subordination grants us at least 8 Arete plus whatever Arete we generate from this update. Thats like 1/3 towards the Evening Sky EFB plus Trinity.

versch is hungry feed him
(though yes, letty is cute, hard decisions)
Blade is the compromise option between greed and safety, Ruler is compromise option between empathy and benefit.

You would get far more details if you didn't Let It Rest!

Guh I don't wanna make Letrizia sad

That's a lot of negatives, but yes! After all, it was entirely willing to accept even death to be free of its tedious hollowing, mere effortful service is a small price to pay! Rather a thousandfold span of Subordination than to be returned to the Vise again.

Alternatively it gives us the Arete for azure moon or gardener's hallow. Or some other nice thing, maybe a new praxis tech will appear.

It is known there is only one Lord of the Rings, and he does not share soup.

Subordination would buy you guys much-needed breathing room in exchange for an extremely manageable downside that'll only manifest in the mid to long term anyway! Think of all the fanwork creators who have poured their hearts out into the task of your survival - should you not maximize the gains fostered thereof?

Let It Rest and Ruler & Vassal are both fine, but Subordination would mean additional conflict between ringbearer/Gisena and the ring, which I want to avoid. "A ring of power does not exert influence casually. It has its own will, its own preferences, and if that will should be inseparable from its owner's, its sway thereby shall be greater for it."

It's true that subjecting Sten to a fraction of the Ring's intentions is inhumane, but considering all that the Ring has suffered, would you truly deny it this catharsis? If Eminence was more powerful I would consider it, but it isn't so I won't. Not going to waste resources on pointless cruelty against this guy, especially given that we weren't even on this world two weeks ago.

I want to rise above the wheel of conflict for the Rings!

And I want to kill the lampreys! But we all have to yield a little to practicality at times...

Blade is the compromise option between greed and safety, Ruler is compromise option between empathy and benefit.

Avenger could be considered the compromise build option overall, with it costing the least Arete and inflicting a moderate level of retribution onto Sten.

If you really want more flexible Arete rewards for the rescue, then you know which path to pick...

IMO Ruler & Vassal and Subordination are extremely severe Apocryphal bait.
