In this case it will be Gisena handling social matters for us with her outrageous wits and appearance.

Hunger will probably still be the beat stick given the power of the Forebear's blade.

Honestly, the most tempting part about Renaissance woman is the Grand Nullfication. BUT I WILL STAY THE COURSE GIVE ME THAT DAMN RING

Taking Gisena's EFB-equivalent will not disqualify you for Trinity or the Forebear's Blade Special Advancements.
Thank you.

[X] Renaissance Woman

Let's just win the Temple you guys. This makes Gisena relevant for a great part of our Career, trivializes our Infiltration of the temple and Mitigates all our Curses by another half-step. It's amazing you guys. Plus we don't even lose any advancement! Everyone can be happy, Save gang, Mage Gang, Not dying Gang and some other people I won't mention. We can have it all!

[X] Renaissance Woman

IIRC, Gisena EFB actually starts us down the Relationship Hat Trick special advance, which, if Renaissance Woman is any indicator, is going to be pretty fucking sweet.

And yeah, lol. Gisena option does outright says that we just bypass Avecarn with it. As far as immediate survival goes, it is as Not Dying as All-Defeating Stance.

And for the medium and long-term survival, well. Did you see all that broken bullshit she gets?

Hmm. Let me try to guess what some of Rihaku's arguments against Renaissance Woman will be.

- Retinue: This trades 25% of our progression speed in exchange for Gisena getting that progression. Do we really want to make that tradeoff?

(The answer is yes. We've got a bunch of +Progression options available to more than make up for this, at which point this basically becomes pure benefit since it gives us someone who can continue escalating with us. There's a reason this option cost a Lesser Remittance!)

... Huh, had a funny thought. So, question -- what happens if Renaissance Woman Gisena becomes the ring-wearer of the Azure Ring?

That'd be a laugh and a half. o_O How freaking OP would she be then?

EDIT:
[ ] Forbear's Blade: All-Defeating Stance - 28 Arete
Oh uh Rihaku, that should be Forebear with two e's actually. Unless the sudden change misspelling is intentional? :V :p

I'll reiterate:

Companion-buffing Advancements have to be more powerful because they're not compounded by all your existing Advancements! So it is good, but consider the synergy inherent in your existing arsenal.

Don't be overtaken by the apparent value of Renaissance Woman into thinking it's strictly better than the alternatives! It is good, but building on a stronger base means the other options are better in many situations, and True Quintessence takes a while to come online. Considering how little time has passed IC, you may want to consider a less greedy option. Even a Gisena with great stats and Absolute-tier Nullity has problems she can't solve, like Armaments with deployed Shrouds! Conversely, Crimson Flare and All-Defeating Stance help Hunger acquire more power quicker. The Progression chassis should not be underestimated.

I'm seriously tempted by All-Defeating Stance, it solves all of our current issues and is pretty kickass though the Trinity pulls at me still. Will need to think further as to whether I prefer to Crimson Flare or All-Defeating Stance.

I am however, entirely opposed to Renaissance Woman ever winning. I have absolutely no desire to sacrifice our potential and power just to buff Gisena up; there's no way I'll ever vote to spend more than 10 Beyond Point equivalents if it doesn't contribute to Hunger's personal legend. I don't particularly dislike Gisena but nor do I like her enough to spend this much to just give her Total Eclipse instead of Hunger attaining that ability. Making Gisena a Renaissance Woman, a superhumanly beautiful genius capable of everything, practically subsuming the interesting narrative of our Edeldross evolving into mastery over Findross through our own acquisition of Total Eclipse and downgrading our own abilities, is unacceptable to me.

We didn't even vote to upgrade Suizhen's Dao to that of the Swordmaiden and she had way more Loyalty to us, alongside having sacrificed her eyes and even offering more explicit power since that EFB would have trivialized our battle against Zang Kong. Dang, even for the First Waifu - Moon herself, we would never have spent such an immense amount of fanwork-derived power just to benefit her. The only option I recall actually requiring some degree of cost from Ulyssian was the one to basically make her an Elemental Dragon or something? And that didn't even cost the equivalent of Beyond Points or Arete. If we didn't give Suizhen an EFB and we didn't sacrifice stuff for Moon, I'm sure as heck not sacrificing this much Arete just to power up Gisena.

And this is like a purely subjective fear of mine, but supremely beautiful women in Rihaku quests trigger some intense paranoia from me. Imperia seemed nice enough but she bent the entire character arc of Arthur literally under her heel. Even though she was much more compelling in terms of story-beats and character thematics than Gisena, I hated the sheer wasted potential of Arthur chaining himself to Imperia's service and I still mourn for the Hand of Justice or the possibility of developing Arthur separately from Imperia's whims. That the route presumably ended with Arthur's success barely makes up for the tedium and regret I experienced during the later stages of the Gardens of Enoch. I have very little desire to go anywhere close to interacting with supernaturally beautiful women again, when it's explicitly stated that they are overwhelmingly more attractive than the normal woman and require a sacrifice of so much personal power when we weren't willing to give up so much for other companions in the past.

Also, I started this post off reasonably calm, but the more I flashback to Terrascape, the more I become opposed to Renaissance Woman lol. Jeez, the sheer salt I would have from Gisena getting an EFB is making me think I should commit to writing reaction posts to oppose that from ever happening. Truly, the Dao of Endless Salt is the only path for that of the Rihaku-quester :V

I mean, the above is already 527 words, mainly derived from salt and fearposting lol.

I'll think on my vote as to whether ADS or CF is better, but I'm basically willing to back any option that isn't Renaissance Woman.

I can hear Orm's wailing and gnashing of teeth from here. To pre-empt some of his concerns:

Hunger's not Arthur. He's got a Curse of Not Being A Simp, he's got a waifu already, and in general he's an experienced curmudgeon instead of a snot-nosed brat. All that, and he's a Progression Cursebearer - I was being a bit facetious with my "week" example, but even with this absurd power spike, there's no way Gisena stays stronger than Hunger for more than a year - probably far less time, if he keeps this absurd tempo going.
