hey at least we will be the counterbalance of sakka
Be extra better special with one weapon, rather than just rather talented with two.
Rather well. You can't use it of someone is grappling you, but the same can be said of a spear. If they are far enough away for you to point your spear at them, they are far enough away for you to easily shoot them.
I'm not sure about that. Aang probably could have ran away if he wasn't busy frog-hunting, but there's a difference between running away and beating in a fight. Plus, a Yuyan Archer, operating as they should, wouldn't BE in a fight. They are covert operatives, striking from the shadows and taking down their prey before a fight could happen. Heck, canonically, if they weren't aiming to capture rather than kill, Aang WOULD have died (they pinned his shoes to the ground before he even knew they were there, during an already very windy day).Yeah, but there were over a dozen of them. If it were just one or two then Aang would have no trouble dealing with them.
Time we spend honing our skill with the spear, is time we aren't spending honing our skill with teh bow.
we only see at most 6 on screen at once. Probably not "over a dozen".

By that logic, you could say there was one hidden behind every blade of grass. I'm pretty sure we don't ever see a volley of arrows greater than 4 arrows, and we DO see that they CAN shoot multiple arrows at once while maintaining pin-point accuracy (specifically four). If there were a dozen archers, the volleys would be MUCH larger than they canonically are.
Then we have a limited number of dice. Dice we assign to spear is dice we are not assigning to bow.Assuming Magoose is not trying some weird Narrative type quest then it'd be based on our rolls not the time we spend on it.
Why wack them with your bow? Shoot them with an arrow. It's like shooting someone with a pistol, while they're MEANT to be used at range they are 100% still useable and lethal in short range.I'm sorry, but I don't believe this for a second. Sure you can hit someone with a bow, but they are not made for melee combat no matter how good you are.
Oh, not what I was originally thinking for our guy, but this is actually rather tempting. So much fluff potential to go with the +5[]No one: You have no family to call you're own. You just a child, a nameless one that lost his family to a world that is uncaring… unjust, and brutal. You were alive because you were lucky, and because the spirits had a plan for you. Whatever it was… you did not know what it is. (Gain Trait: Orphaned: You are without parents, living alone, and being alive through you're own skills, and the kindness of others. (+5 to all rolls. You are alone in this world)
I'm confused. Didn't we want to be a badass non-bender fighter? Would that not be our dream? I thought that was the entire point of the Yuyan archer plan.
What we, the readers, want to be, and what we, the character, want to be are two seperate things.I'm confused. Didn't we want to be a badass non-bender fighter? Would that not be our dream? I thought that was the entire point of the Yuyan archer plan.
I hope you don't really feel that way, everyone has specific flavors and ideas even if we can agree on others, thats just kinda how these things work out.
The way I see it, it's our overall dream, but it's not our current goal. Like, of course we want to be rich, and being a great warrior would be awesome, but those are just things that'd be really nice to have not our deepest truest dream. What we truely want is peace, but we also know that it's impossible and that's there's nothing a brat like us could do to bring it to be. But, as the story goes on and we grow as a person, we become less and less pessimistic and begin to actually acknowledge our dream as anything more than just a impossible fantasy.I know I'm not a fan of "Bring Peace", that feels like a goal they should grow to maybe having but not having yet, its why I almost like "Become Rich" more, however, I think wanting to be a "Great Warrior" is a very reasonable goal for a 13 year old boy to want in this world and it works well with other ideas stated earlier.
