Flying True: An ATLA AU Nonbender Quest

[X]Plan: Phoenix Reborn

edit: So many people switched votes. I really wouldn't mind the sandbender, but nooo! I'm one of those people who want a bender.

[X] Plan Yuyan Archer

My main focus in this vote is nonbender, as I feel their accomplishments feel more impactful, and their goals feel much more open-ended than a bender's. I like my Traveler, but even when I made them I said I liked the Archer.

Well in a world that's in constant chaos it will be a shock that non benders have impact then benders because benders have power over them
Except that nonbenders are equally as impactful as benders.

Having no bending powers doesn't mean you don't have power.

So can Benders.
Just because you have Bending-Powers doesn't mean your Actions are less impressive or impactful.
Maybe not less impactful, but it feels more impressive. You've got these people who can sling around mountains, or create tornadoes or tidal waves or what have you, and all you got is a bow and some arrows. Everyone's going to underestimate you, but you can still take down those titans.

Earth benders who've mastered earth bending can become truth seers. I wonder if there's a equivalent in the other elements.

Yes but being a nonbender people will undereximate you like with sakka though he know how to lead but beating the oods with powerful benders to bring peace will be a inspiration for them

Truthseers don't gain their ability from earth-bending mastery, but rather from Seismic Sense. Their perception of fine detail becomes great enough as to see a persons physiological reaction to lying.

For other elements to have that, other elements would need a non-visual method of seeing the world. Which I can 100% beleive them having. I'm also fairly certain every bending art also has a method of healing, water's is only the easiest thus well known. It's well established in the world of avatar that the elements can do a lot more than people generally think they can.

Yeah, I remember an idea for an inverted-type AU thing where the roles of the elemental nations were partially flipped, and Toph was the Avatar- Airbending is echolocation, Firebending is thermal imaging, and Waterbending senses water- within the reference of idea, I think that the latter two were only used in relation to humans, but Firebending could allow for the sensing of other heat sources, as well, and if the fog is thick enough, you could probably get vague shapes?

I don't think that any of those could, on their own, be able to detect truth, but an Avatar, using Waterbending and Firebending to detect sweat and body heat, could detect lies, but they'd also presumably be able to use the Earthbending technique, so why would they choose the more complicated path?

One thing I am rather curious of is if the bending used by Combustion Man is a variant of fire bending and if so how can we learn it.
