[X] Hunt for Healing

"Point me, exhausted monster I can kill that would give me the ability to heal my companions."

"Point me, exhausted monster I can kill en route to our destination that will empower me physically."

"Point me, exhausted Huntress Moon target."

"Point me, monster I can kill whose primary defense is stealth over resilience."

"Point me, being I can gank for a strength bonus that's relying on obscurity to avoid being hunted."

"Point me, the man in charge of this organization, so I can kill him and suborn his things."

"Point me, a mecha I can tear apart for parts in order to repair and upgrade my own mecha."

"Point me a really really tasty monster I can cook tonight."

"Point me, exhausted monster I can kill that would give me the ability to strike harder."

"Point me, exhausted monster I can kill that would give me the ability to be more resilient."

An inordinate amount of time has passed
"Point me, a member of the conspiracy who betrayed me in my original world vulnerable to being stabbed."

In a world where we can't be work with any organization that would have information gathering capabilities that we don't personally run, Scent is bloody amazing. The ability to find Huntress Moon targets alone would be worthy of the option, and there's a ton more we can do with it. And unless we decide to get sensory powers, which I doubt, it's going to remain useful despite the scaling simply because it will let us find acceptable targets to empower ourselves physically, accursedly, or even socially.

Scent is amazing, true, but it does have its downsides too. We've been told that we can't set the next target until we've dealt with the previous one, so if we make the wrong choice and find out we can't kill it in the near future for whatever reason, we basically lose the power until we finish them.

On the flipside however, we can intentionally narrow the selection criteria by adding exhaustion or similar tags. It's one thing to be hunting a certain kind of being, it's whole nother animal to be able to specifically hone on the currently extra killable one.

Sure, but some things are a bit difficult to narrow down. For instance, let's take Hunter's Moon targets. Our basic requirements would be that they're at least somewhat level-appropriate and that we can reach them within a reasonable timeframe. But then other questions start piling up. What if they have backers we can't afford to offend? We need to add that requirement too. What if we would have moral quandaries about killing them? I'm not sure the power would even be able to properly understand complex social requirements, because that would demand it can predict things, which seems outside the scope of its abilities.

It's useful, sure, hence its popularity. But I don't think it can be relied on to the extent you're expecting.

Though it would be interesting if we can apply it to confirm our guesses about enemies before battle. Like if someone attacks us out of nowhere and we need to narrow down some of their abilities, so we set a target like 'this specific enemy that is also an archer/mage/fighter, has ability x/y/z' etc. Would only work till we hit upon a right guess, then we'd have to kill them, but it's better than knowing nothing. And this would also preemptively mark them so we can chase after they inevitably escape!

Caught up a bit with the discussion! I was originally wanting to go for Recuperate/Rains options, and I also really like Pillars still, but this combo here was basically my second choice, and argumentation and vote counts so far has convinced me that this is probably more viable.

If we're going hunt for healing can we please get Scent of Prey? Running around aimlessly seems unwise, and it can serve us later for Huntress' Moon.

I'm not sure what is Hunger supposed to do with his fucked up arm if we don't pick Rain/Blood. Wield Edge in our mouth?
That seems to be the case! Don't underestimate the ridiculousness of a Hero, I suppose.

I am also definitely teetering on swapping A&T for Scent like Orm, I do like the synergy, but Rank is also really important.

Do we know when this voting period closes? I can be convinced to switch, still.
Rank is important but we'll get more chances down the line. Regularly, by the look of things. Right now we are best served amplifying Huntress' Moon and setting up to get to our target in time - if we aren't in a rush to make sure we can heal Letz we should be Recuperating.

I think I must have missed something... is Amaranth + Age and Treachery a valid pick?
Those are both 2 point options, and we only have 3 points!

Regarding Hunt vs Recuperation, though it is unlikely, there is the chance that Gisena and Letrizia will be attacked while you are away. That would be highly unfortunate, and is one of the reasons that Recuperation is the safest option. You don't need to hunt for healing right now to eventually cure Letrizia! Don't underestimate her resolve either! Do you think a weakling besides Shinji can pilot an Armament!?

I'm surprised that the Pillars vs Once and Future vote has gone so definitively against Pillars! Pillars offers not just versatility and mitigation but a fair bit of power as well, on top of being a comfy pocket dimension you can unwind it once a month! Especially if you're not getting Scent of Prey, Pillars would fulfill a similar (though superior) role at getting you relatively easy access to level-appropriate enemies. It's a very consistent form of scaling that will continue to work after you find it hard to locate viable challengers in this universe!

With press the attack way down Rains loses a lot of it's luster. Healing, Amaranth, and Fury seem pretty far ahead leaders so it's likely the secondary choice is between Age and Treachery and Scent of Prey. If we take age we'll be a Rank 4 With Exhausted*75% That seems like it's maybe around Rank 2.5-3 in practice? So we'd still have some world manipulation help us happen upon likelier targets while also having to avoid less obstacles. In comparison though it's definitely more the long term pick that hopes we manage to solve our current issues well enough anyway despite not being that well suited.

I think I'll go with Scent, in addition to addressing the current vote (Who knows how long we might blunder around otherwise) we chose Huntress' Moon, let's show some commitment to that and take suitable support abilities for it.

[X] Hunger - Scent of Prey

Still somewhat undecided on the 25 point options... I'll just toss a vote Pillars' way though as though I'm not sure it merits it on usefulness I like the visuals of it somewhat better.

A valid choice! Pillars does take some work to get going but it really shines in playing the long game. Extended timeskips and the like mean you'll have plenty of time to scale with Pillars, but even in the short term it can help you get the buffs or enemies you need.

These are good points, but I imagine it could in part be addressed with some preliminary checking as well. That is to say we're going to have to kill someone for Hunter's Moon, and having a vague idea of what targets for it exist in the first place nearby would be a prudent decision regardless so as to get better tracking. Scent shines in two cases primarily, cases where we wouldn't even know where to begin for something important without it, and cases where we know exactly what we're looking for but not where they are

Interesting, interesting indeed. Hadn't considered that angle, 'mutters to himself' is a fairly keying descriptor...

[X] Pillars of Creation
[X] Hunt for Healing
[X] Evening Sky - Amaranth Star
[X] Echo of the Forebear
[X] Echo of the Forebear X 2
[X] Fury - +1 pick above

Upon reflection, I realize I would only pick Once and Future if there is nothing else available. I just don't find it interesting and would rather pick most other things.

If I had one pick I would take it over Pillars, but I think Pillar would better support more interesting picks so I might as well save it.

Pillars does a wide range of things really well -

1) Supports almost any type of build with intrinsic scaling. Whether you go for another 7-point immediate power or potential-based purchase, whether you pick Azure Moon or Pitless Maw, it can help advance your build. You don't have to mono-focus on Rank (and lose out on interesting options!) and maintain thread discipline or give up on hyperexponential gains.

2) Supports the mental and physical health of Hunger's party. Don't you guys want him to happy? Get those relationship +s in a conducive environment!

3) Curse Mitigation. Really quite powerful mitigation options for your most distressing Curses.

4) Gives you more time to do things. Having 7 extra days per month in which your Curses are heavily mitigated has a wide range of applications.

5) Miscellaneous utility from ingesting the divine reagents that you can grow there. Synergizes well with some form of alchemy magic, super farming or the like.

That's because when you introduce a runoff vote that relitigates a drawn out vote debate that took multiple days, then sit back and wait half a day or so, you don't always get a result that reprises the debate you're relitigating. Some of the voters who participated the first time simply won't show up, or new voters will show up, or the person who spent a lot of time advocating for one of the options last time will be busy.
