Aw yeah spill voters vindicated. Interesting that the foremost new about and respected cursebearers. Maybe that's where they got the idea for armaments from?

Was originally going to vote for a curse deferred but I prefer the slumber options. This makes us incredibly hard to kill and basically negates the wound penalty we took, it also keeps us out of arete debt since this combo only costs 4 thereby avoiding another debuff.

Have to go Fisher King for epic fishing memes. But also because it'll increase our accretion rank and legendary fish probably actually do something since this is Isekai world so it could be a transdimensional fish.

This decision isn't as easy as I thought. So let's think about it.

There are four Curses.
For the Affliction this Mitigation a plus, since it's getting turned off for two years. It might influence the direction and difficulty of future Mitigation opportunities, but that's a problem for future Hunger to handle.
This decision doesn't impact Geas too much - we're getting a slower start because of Conclusion, but we'll also have an easier time integrating into their society initially, so it somewhat balances out.
For Apocrypha it's likely a minus - while this removes a vector of attack on us, the Apocryphal Curse doesn't lack for those in any case, and in the end we'd be growing slower, thus being more vulnerable to it.
Tyrant's Doom... we're an asshole to the government, but with this we won't be an asshole that also slowly kills everything in a large radius around him. Makes this more manageable.

On the whole, probably a net positive, though we'll have to look out for Apocrypha even more.

Of course there's also the question of lives saved. The action would do a lot to sooth the Hero's conscience and generally make the world around him quite literally more livable.
Is it the only way of doing so? I doubt it, but Mitigating Curses is not going to be anything but very costly for a very long time, and we can't rely on always finding the right opportunity to Mitigate it when the time comes. Hell, Apocrypha would likely make things difficult in that regard somehow, though maybe I'm overestimating its abilities by this point somewhat.

Another factor to consider is Verschlengorge. Is our affinity going to be even further reduced after Concluding the Curse? I doubt it, since it has already recognized us as a Cursebearer-

Huh. Just had a thought. Maybe the power of these mechs is incidental, and the actual point is helping Cursebearers Mitigate their Curses. Would be quite nice of the Accursed to send us here if that's the case, but maybe he thought we deserved a break after tanking effectively 5 Curses.

Anyway, we'll likely still be able to pilot it, though it's uncertain how much Conclusion will influence the efficiency of such a union.

On the whole, even if it's a trap of some kind, I can't find it in myself to refuse at the moment.

I may be the only one, but I want to make an attempt. Safety and Charisma are nothing to sneeze at, and best of all consider the aesthetic!

Current vote count? Don't forget you already have one month off from the Decimator's regardless! Also, remember that you're constantly being attacked by creatures and that you have no control of when or where!

I thought we could remove the Exhausted debuff with the expenditure of 1 Arete though? If we can't, that changes things.

You don't have the spare Arete to do such a thing unless you choose El Stats! So you'll be Exhausted if you pick that option and any of the 7 Arete options.

She took that a tad better than I expected, hm. Still don't want to pick a 7-pt and Fisher King, and considering how I argued against Spill+Fisher King, and that those risks still kind of apply- though it wouldn't be malice but carelessness- these options seem prudent.
Though the 7-pt power options are... tempting.

Meh, taking A Curse Deferred at all isn't really prudent. You could still die to the Apocryphal two weeks from now because you were too weak!

None of the options will give you Arete Debt, since you managed to hit 7 Arete (barely) in the nick of time!

Even in combination with Fisher King? Or is Arete debt a worse debuff than Exhausted?

It's worse, yes.

Like butter spread over too much bread...

That's the spirit! Take the power you need to live! Live, and grow strong!

Would that really be something he would do? You're not even taking the Doom of the Culling!

Well, true, we're not quite that hardcore. Wait, does that mean people taking Culling get special opportunities for Mitigation?

Edit: Aside from killing other Cursebearers and taking their everything, that is.
Oh, I get it. Guess it's way too late here if I needed that long.

After the conversation about how amazing Accretion Rank is, it seems odd to not go for the biggest fish. Even if it does make me want to roll my eyes. More importantly, though, I see lots of votes for Kingfisher and Deferred together, and in the interests of not instantly getting caught in a negative space wedgie and dying I'm voting for the smaller fish. I exaggerate, but being more suicidal isn't great either...

Lord Reaper is lame, or maybe I'm just sick of glass cannons? I'm surprised by the strength of my visceral negative reaction to this one.

Evening Sky is cool, and armor is important, but I don't feel like dropping 7 Arete here.

Yep. This is the gold standard of arguing, right here. Cool/Lame, I am the authority on which is which.

Zee is just... not reacting to the Decimation thing. Even if she carts it around and is used to it, more unease feels warranted. Admittedly there's a lot going on.

Oh hey, Verschlengorge can Truthsay.

Double mystery box. One more and we get a free toaster!

It takes all kinds!

She had a response, you just couldn't hear it over the Elder Implement awakening! Given that she's lived with knowledge of it for... a while, the fact that you have it is probably stranger to her than the damage it does...

Hedging your bets, eh? The least risky combinatorial option, but doesn't it feel lame to be voting for no glory at all? You guys worked hard to scrape together that Arete!

Couldn't we just gain 1 Arete between this update and the next in order to pay for removing the Exhausted debuff? We seem to be at 7 already, so 8 shouldn't be too far off, right?

No, I've already deferred this spending point for several days. You shouldn't even have this much Arete in the first place, so play with the cards you're dealt!

Our stats aren't that relevent since we're just going to get in the giant mecha, aren't we?

This is not merely the Truth.

You didn't pick Learn to Pilot, so you're only entering the mech to investigate it. Hunger intends to continue fighting outside for the foreseeable future. And stats (Agility especially) would still be highly relevant inside it!

Wait, I was also assuming that we'd be getting the 8th point before the vote ended.

Does this mean that whatever arcane mechanism behind the engagement farming is shut down for this next while, or is the gain all tallied, but delayed untill the next update?

I feel that a combination of a lot of the back end stuff being ported over, and chat moving (purposefully) quickly has obscured a few vital parts of the machinery hurtling around at arm-ripping-off speeds.

I wonder if the Mechas have Doom/Geas of Lunacy? That might be the reason as to why they need a Cursebearer. Or suitable pilot. I mean, if you're creating mechas to mitigate your curses, might as well multimitigate..

It's tallied, but can't be spent on this vote! But even if you guys got to use that 8th point and weren't Exhausted, it wouldn't stop the Apocryphal Curse from killing you with a dangerous event in a few weeks. Safer to stay ahead of that curve and pursue mitigation when you aren't a mere fledgling!

Well alright then. Pump up that Accretion rank!

Perhaps if you had the power of the Fell-Handed Stroke, you might fare better against that mighty specimen...

If we can style all over Letrizia in social combat this badly then think how fucking amazing Hunger'll be with Evening Sky? That puts us at like Gisena level, minimum. Plus it defends against everything.

Priority one is to live. We had trouble with our first challenge, so we really shouldn't take the risky option now.

The words doesn't have that truth color to be Truthsay I say.
Or am I getting senile and forget about the actual Truth effect from EFB?
