[X] One of the less approved gods?
-[X] Lissa (grants increased protection from fatigue and illness)

Fatigue is actually the big thing I think we need to worry about. Illness rates a close second.

To remind people, Lissa is kinda borderline – constantly on the verge of being banned – because as well as being the goddess of youth, spring and new life, she is also a goddess of freedom, upheaval, and violent revolution against corrupt authorities.

Now, Philander might do well to pray to the Forgotten God, or Teryn the Ghostlord, though the latter could get him in trouble if he does it too frequently I guess? The impression I get is that it'd be mostly establishing a temple or being priest of Teryn that'd be problematic. Because Teryn's priests are preaching against slavery and mutilating souls and the other evil stuff the authorities get up to...

IN THE NAME OF LATE NIGHT STUDYING XD

I love your alchemy posts. I hope we do a ton of alchemy and crafting.

I would prefer a necklace. Unfortunately, as a teenage boy, especially as a middle-class Sembian, I think Dorian would lean towards the bracelet.

I've got a soft spot for Nerya, so I'm voting for her. Her bonus is amazing too. Extra protection from everything. By the time it stops working, we'll be ready to make something better.

The benefit of Tebhol's bonus is obvious. Especially with as much alchemy as we're going to need to do to make ends meet. I can see why Professor Kunrath recommends it. I love how he's low-key recommending crimes to his students on the second day of class.

Let's manufacture some safety equipment since we're planning on making money through alchemy.

Professor Kunrath continues to be my favourite teacher. I hope that second year has an option to continue taking alchemy in some fashion.

Magical arts and crafts are outstanding. Be an arts kid, do crime.

I think Phil will probably go for the Vistander blessing.

I'd say not look to fix that which isn't broken, and stick with Tebnol as dangers of crafting are not exaggerated when it comes to mages.
But then I saw this one.

We've had some interesting dreams lately. This might be warranted.

It's easy to hide if you don't want it to be displayed. And with the "less approved" gods you might.

Tempted. Alas, Dorian is not that kind of protagonist. I have high hopes for Phil, though!

Fun chapter, I like Kunrath.

These are harder to rip off or lose.

Given who we associate with this feels important.

I like the forgotten god, but...

This was persuasive

This is something we'll end up replacing, so let's plan for the right now in order to make the most of the time before the next stage of our life.

I have been persuaded by the earlier argument. Let's get protection from everything, by the time we come of age, we'll be able to make something else to protect ourselves.

necklaces are cooler and also harder to lose or break than bracelets.

Nerya seems good but remember she's forbidden so making it could have some consequences.

Seems we are going to need this for Alchemy, and specialized is usually stronger than general, Tebhol the teacher rec seems like the best pick.

Unless you carve the name or holy symbols of the god/goddess into the necklace/bracelet, it would be quite difficult for anyone to find out which divine being you prayed to while you were enchanting it. (Which means that as long as you're careful and don't go bragging about it, praying to forbidden gods is not something which is going to put you at any great risk in this quest.)

There's something about crafting mechanics which appeal to my inner hoarder mentality. I remember when I used to play Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. I'd play as a technologist, hoover up every rare crafting ingredient I could find (even the ones that I was unlikely to ever actually use) while raiding dungeons and so on, and then I'd spend hours carefully sorting them into different containers in an abandoned warehouse I'd taken over as a base, so that I'd have them within easy reach if I ever wanted to use them to craft anything.

So yeah, you can be sure that there'll be a lot of that in this quest. Dorian may run out of storage space before very long.

There's nothing to prevent you from creating one type of protective bracelet or necklace in the lesson right now, then creating a protective item dedicated to a different god later on. That way, you could experiment with the different benefits available. (However, it would use up some of your precious action slots. It's up to you to decide if you want to do that.)

I think Nerya Fair-hair is far in the lead, but there are three other gods/goddesses which people have voted for. I'm going to explain the benefits conferred by each god/goddess so that you can make an informed choice.

A bracelet or necklace with a protective enchantment blessed by Lissa will give you +1 Defence and while you are wearing it you will be treated as if your Durability was 1 level higher for the purposes of resisting Fatigue and illness. (So, you would get an extra action slot each week.)

A bracelet or necklace with a protective enchantment blessed by Nerya Fair-hair will give a solid +2 Defence against anything which might otherwise harm you. Until you come of age, when the bonus will be lowered to +1 Defence instead.

A bracelet or necklace with a protective enchantment blessed by Tebhol will give you +1 Defence against most threats, but it will give you +3 Defence against fire and/or injuries incurred while crafting.

A bracelet or necklace with a protective enchantment blessed by Zora Alishanda will give you +1 Defence against most threats, but it will give you +3 Defence against anything seeking to harm you in your dreams or while you're asleep.

I'm going to leave the vote open for a while longer so that you can decide which of those bonuses you want to immediately go for. Have fun! ;)

Wait an extra action?

Increasingly our weekly actions will, over the course of 15-30 weeks, result in a permanent stat or skill increase. After 60 weeks the Lissa Necklace becomes 100% superior to every other option.

Oh wow, extra action slot. OK, that's worth it.

However, I think our extra actions should definitely include making a more general protection item soon.

Sorry, Nerya. Action economy is too important to pass up. Hopefully we'll use our first extra action to make a talisman with your blessing (or Tebhol's).

An extra action slot is too good to give up. We can use the extra slot we get this week to craft the Tebhol necklace before we have Alchemy again, and still get the protection from crafting accidents.
