Between the cavity in one wall, and the cracks on the other, you think that the cavity has more chance of doing something useful, maybe. Not that you're entirely sure what to do with it, but you're sure you can improvise.
The ball of light you've manifested is more draining than you'd thought it'd be... like something about this place is making you less efficient than you normally are. You shrug off that thought as you being ridiculous, but it means you probably shouldn't keep this spell going for much longer.
...And, suddenly, you've found something that you'd like to try. You approach the gap in the wall, which doesn't seem to have any attached mechanisms or anything, but is also too uniform to be placed there any way but deliberately. Like the rest of the walls, it looks like it's been smoothed over several times, although the edges are sharper than anything you've seen here before.
Really, it'd probably be easier to damage your hand with these edges than with your spear. Either of your spears.
Gathering up your courage, you reach forward, and push the ball of light into leaving your grasp. It floats forward slowly, surely, paying no attention to little trivialities such as gravity.
When it reaches the wall, you almost expect it to explode. In your experience, concentrated magic tends to do that, when faced with a solid object. But that's not what the ball of light does.
Instead, it enters the cavity, spends a few moments floating in place, and then begins to shine brighter, stretching outward until it's turned into... some sort of lamp, you think, nestled snugly in the wall and no longer drawing on you to keep itself glowing. Similar lights appear in the nearby passageways, illuminating at least this small section of the maze.
Before you can take in the scenery properly, however, you wake up, blinking as the early morning sunlight streams through your bedroom window.
That was... odd.
Even weirder, however, is when you sit up, and realize that there are now two spears leaning against your wall. One of them is the piece of void you were given, the other the spear you were carrying through the maze.
You're probably going to have to explain to someone later how you managed to acquire another weapon, but you don't even know where to start with that.
Hopefully, nobody will ask.
It is Sunday. Checking the calendar, you can see that the full moon is tomorrow. You still aren't sure how this can be so important, but you don't have that much reason to disbelieve it.
Still, why does this sort of thing always have to happen on a school night?
Makoto-san seems sort of anxious today, too. You aren't sure what that's about. Maybe he noticed the pattern?
...Still, maybe you should try not to worry so much. It's not like whatever Shadows you could face tomorrow will put you in a building at risk of collapse or a speeding train, right?
...You know, when you put it like that, it's almost surprising we don't have more issues.
...Okay, yeah, you definitely need to think about something else for the moment.
[ ] Practice with your new spear. You have it for a reason, right?
[ ] ...Doesn't Isshiki-chan live nearby? At the very least, she's around often enough.
[ ] ...Is Makoto-san all right?
