Luffy had made a mistake, but he wasn't sure when or how. That was usually the case with the mistakes he made, so he didn't sweat it.
Sounds like Luffy, all right.
Garp came around the corner so fast he tore into a building on the other side of the street, then he ran out as if punching through cement was totally normal which it sort of was.
I mean, yeah. Honestly in universes like One Piece, there aren't a lot of excuses to be surprised when you're already aware of how ridiculous some people can be through nothing but regular, strenuous exercise.

If Luffy is 'gonna strong-arm people that he likes into his crew with raw charisma, then we should follow our not-so-intelligent Captain's lead! Also, get those two some strawhats, this crew needs to fit their theme! Strawhats, represent! Also, Nami wants her money and we want a happy Nami.

You might be thinking of Kid. Barty never became a Supernova, only Blackbeard was added to the group.
Supernova is a term for super rookie in some translations, as in entered paradise and gained 100 million plus before reaching Sabaody in a short period of time. Meaning he shot up in reputation and power even though he came from the weakest blue in about a year or so. This means he at least has potential around the worst generation, he may never equal some or even most of them but he can someday be in the same category or them. Having a extra member for the monster trio would be nice.

Pretty sure Whitebeard would be the one doing the kidnapping. Or as he calls it, adoption.

Edit: Oh my God. War over who gets to be the real Grandfather to the Straw Hats. Battle for Grandfatherly supremacy.

*Reads comment*

*Finally gets curious enough to look up both Whitebeard and Garp.*

First thing that comes to mind after seeing what they both look like:

"This is the Ultimate Battle of Grandpa's Destiny!

Good Guys, Bad Guys, and Explosions! As far as the eye can see!

And only one will survive I wonder who will it be!

This is the Ultimate Showdown of Grandpa's Destiny!"

Yeah...

My mind did a thing for some reason...

I just love the synergy and connection of Luffy and Garp in the earlier arcs of One Piece. They are reminiscent of Mo Ri Jin and his grandfather in God of High-School! And it gets even better cause they are monkeys!

I'm really hoping for both to join the crew. They're just so.. wildly different from one another. Their image, personalities, upbringing, beliefs, everything about Tashigi and Bart are complete opposites. It seems like it'll be fun to have them both as new crew-mates just to see how that contrast plays out.
Well then.

This vote is getting a scary amount of traction.

If I need to get Garp to join the crew I will. He can be the crew's grandpa. It'll mean steamrolling the shit out of the early grandline arcs, at least until he gets off at Alabasta, but still...
Well, if you're taunting us like that...

I can imaging garp decided that him being in the crew for a while would basically be a vacation where he hangs out with his grandson and his friends and decides to adopt Taylor as his grand daughter it would be funny seeing him meet Ace again and introducing Taylor to Ace as his sister.

Less than half the amount of either join vote, so not that much traction...

I don't mind diverging from canon necessarily, but Garp steamrolling everything to Alabasta is too easy.

^ THIS. This needs to happen so badly. And it could happen so easily! They've cast off, sailing away, Garp makes the leap- and bounces his head off the mast. Or falls asleep a minute after he's caught Luffy in a head-lock, and the crew's "Oh, shit, what do we do?!" and Luffy's all "OH, SHIT, WHAT DO WE DO?!" and then they're caught up in Reverse Mountain, and Garp decides to treat this like an excuse to avoid work.

And thus, Taylor gets the kind of training she wants. Nami unfriends her in the log book.

... Garp makes certain things too easy. Also might scare Robin away

All he has to do is get off before Alabasta! (Probably after picking up Chopper - he's got contact with civilization and information for the Marines!)

And can you imagine how much fun he would have on Little Garden?
