I suspect its the Wild Card not being here to catalyze the spiritual growth. They have gods backing their growth and it spills over to their links.
Not really? I mean, the Wild Card is not backed by gods. I don't know what Velvet Room is, but it's not gods. And I doubt we need Wild Cards when I'd like to think we're good enough a friend with Lavenza she'd wish for us to be strong enough to fight off Shadows that we'd have her, for lack of better term, 'backing'

Uh, the Velvet Room is basically a proxy game between Philemon and Nyarly. The Wild Card's growth comes from that sponsorship.

Well, was a proxy game, I understand that he and the Crawling Chaos are keeping hands off since P2?
(Yu and Joker are proxies for gods, but Door-kun isn't beyond his Velvet contract.)

Ken gets more access to XP through his Mindscape and more opportunity to leverage those levels since he is going to be part of at least 2 incidents, maybe 3 if we go to Inaba, slowing down his EXP growth is kinda necessary, although i wish we did get more levels than we do currently and have them slow down significantly later.

The major issue is that it seems like no one got any level ups from the Tower Climb. Also I have no idea where the hell you're getting the whole 'he gets stronger when in the mindscape instead of reality' thing. Especially since if that were true, we'd never be able to get stronger.

I don't think that's what he's saying, I think he's basing his comment off of your earlier post of
Also, isn't the growth and power of the Wild Card spawned from, ya know, their Bonds?
as he has access to some bonds SIGNIFICANTLY sooner than he should, albeit at a second hand rate through Nemi.

One reply was responding to someone talking about Ken's Mindscape. The other was responding to someone talking about the power of the Wild Card.

Yukari would like a word with you. Also, you try leveling up characters with levels up to thirty-four on the likes of Cowardly Mayas, see how far that gets you.

They're called experience points. But if you're just defeating everything in one hit, you aren't really gaining anything from that experience, are you?

Then I missed Yukari's level ups.

**I have no knowledge of P5

Didn't that game end in Persona/2 though? Since neither pop up anymore.

Not disagreeing that the game between those two ended, but isn't the blue/gold butterfly that keeps showing up in P3 and P4 respectively Our Old Pal Phil?

I acknowledge that the Wild Card power didn't come from Philemon in later games. Instead, now that Nyarly seems to be missing, he has taken up an observer/spiritual guide role instead...

Also, isn't the growth and power of the Wild Card spawned from, ya know, their Bonds?

Not disagreeing here either, just wanted to clarify for anyone who played P1-4 and might be confused between the correlation between bonds and the Wild Card:

In P1 and P2, every single character in your party could switch Personas whenever they wanted; they could even switch Personas with each other because they all shared the same Persona pool, plus they could all enter the Velvet Room together. The bonds they shared as fellow Wild Cards allowed them to do this.

In P3 and P4, since Philemon isn't handing out the Wild Card ability like candy anymore, the MC's Wild Card ability alone wouldn't be strong enough to face the trials ahead. Especially in the case of P3, where they literally face off against Death itself. Having nobody to share/switch Personas with, he instead gains the ability to strengthen his Wild Card power via Social Links.

TL;DR - friendship is magic, yo

Now, I have a question for the rest of you guys:

Is it possible to just contain/seal away the 12 Greater Shadows instead of outright destroying them? Since killing allows them to reunite...

Or we could kill 11 of them and contain the last one? Preferably the weakest one?

If the P3 protag isn't backed by Yahweh, I'll eat my hat. Good god (hah!,) look at story arcs.

Edit: Post Jesus Yahweh, at that. P3 protag's ultimate Persona is Messiah, I mean come on.

The issue with that is it doesn't actually solve the problem. The Dark Hour remains, people keep losing their Shadows, and Apathy Syndrome cases keep slowly increasing until society can't cope. The moment man devoured the fruit of knowledge he sealed his face; one way or another, the Fall beginning is inevitable.

Uh.
P5 aside, you are aware what YHVH is like in Shin Megami Tensei?

Old Testament vs. New. Also, there's (intentional) confusion between the Gnostic YHVH (Demiurge) and mainstream Christianity's interpretation of Jesus.

Edit: So I guess you have a point, I should have said Jesus in the original post. But that kind of language sets of zealot flags for me, and I assume other people as well, so...

So whilst I won't argue friendship is a source of power the Persona 3-5 Protags use, truth of the matter is that it's not purely the bonds of friendship. Because you can enter relationships that by virtue kind of extends it into the power of Bonds. This is even more obvious in 4 and 5 due to the fact you bond with Adachi and Akechi, two major villains in the games, and especially in Akechi's case, people that outright hate the Protag provides him power with their 'bond' with the MCs.

TL;DR - actually bonds is magic, yo

Why is it that whenever we practice our Magic we pretty much never actually practice our actual element?

All right, let's see how this goes...

Maybe you'll meet someone new, maybe something interesting will come up... We'll just have to see how it goes.

Because Bless Magic is kind of "Awesome but Impractical", both in the utility and combat sense. Like yeah, One-Hit-KOing mooks is sweet, but it would be useless on most bosses- which also means Kouha would be useless. Plus the whole "Too easy no EXP earned" thing.

Utility wise, it certainly is impressive having light at one's beck and call... and that's about it, whereas Zio & Dia have far more regular reasons to be used. Being a Human Charger is very valuable, which makes being "Human Flashlight" less useful when we can just power a device to light for us.

I will repeat my point from earlier. If Kouha is always included to Insta Kill Immunity in bosses, than there was no point at all in making Kouha Spells Ken's specialty. Because that'd be more a hindarance that Ken's most attuned element is completely worthless for any important fight in existence.

Also, I feel you underestimate the value of Light element. And I see absolutely no reason why we'd ever advertise being a 'human flash light/charger' to the general public.
