So, while coming up with the update for this, I came to a conclusion: I'm bored with the story. I can't find any kind of real inspiration, the calculations are something I dread now, and I just can't find any sort of staying interest right now. So, I'm going to put this on Hiatus. I don't have a specific date for a return, but I hope to have one. Sorry for anyone wanting to read a new update, but I would rather crank out a good update after a while then try to force myself to churn out a bad update. I hope you can understand.

I completely understand and empathise with your position and support your decision not to keep spending your life on something you aren't passionate about at the moment, but nevertheless, I hope that you find new inspiration for this and future works, no rush of course. I'll have to take this opportunity to catch up with all the updates!

So, while this will be going on hiatus for a while, I don't intend to just full stop doing quests. I've had a couple of ideas bouncing in my head for a while, and I believe this is a good time to showcase them. The two favorites that I've fleshed out the most are:

Mechanicus Deity Quest: No SV, you ARE the Machine Spirit. The General premise would be that you, a Machine Spirit would develop as a minor one (Basically a Lagun, or a Tech-Priest Tool or something like that) and through time and experience would potentially grow to be the same strength as one in an Ark Mechanicus. You would essentially go through it as a d20 roller, and instead of moving around and making the choices yourself on action, the person using the item you inhabit would make the choices and you would decide on how to help him (Until you get to something you can 'ASSUME DIRECT CONTROL' over, such as a Battle-Automata). It would be a bit slower, but much easier to run with many more possible updates in a day.

Or...

Shackles, Bile, and Crackles: A 40k Daemon Quest. Instead of being a human-centered quest, it would be one revolving around a daemon! You would be created as a daemonic beast for either Tzeentch, Khorne, or Nurgle (I'll explain why no Slaanesh in a bit) and would make your way up the ranks from a Daemonic beast to a lesser daemon, to a Daemonic Herald eventually up to a Greater Daemon. After your final ascent into Greater Daemonhood, the quest would turn from a more Character building game into more of a Warband creation and management group: Finding new daemons and cultists to convert, making sure that plans and/or battles would go well for them, and potentially being summoned if a powerful enough sacrifice was made. Keep it up long enough and you might just become favored by your Personal God...Or Even more. As for why I'm not including Slaanesh in the potential running, it's mostly because of two reasons. 1: I actually want to make a campaign before the Eye of Terror opens so Slaanesh wouldn't even exist for half the game, and 2: Slaaneshi practices are really really horrifying. If I go into too much detail, Banhammer. Not enough detail, People start calling me out for being too tame. I really don't want to try and Juggle what that would be like.

So, yeah! Those are the two quests that I would like to do the most. I'll leave a vote on the thread. The vote will last for 3 days, so don't worry about not getting there on time. You'll have 3 options:

[] Machine Spirit Quest
[] Daemon Quest
[] Don't do a quest

BTW, if anyone would like to use any of these ideas for their own quest, feel free, but just mention that you got your idea from here. The Threadmark will last for 3 hours.

Feel free to ask me any questions.

[X] Daemon Quest

Definitely this for me.
Just, maybe nerf crits? Or less traits or something? Because the character in this quest got very very strong very very fast.
Maybe it's easier to incorporate failures in a Daemon-quest.

The machine spirit quest seems like a really unique idea that is one of those things that you don't really see often. So really digging that idea for the sheer originality.

[X] Daemon Quest

Machine Spirit Quest sounds like it suffers from agency issues, where the choices we'd make wouldn't be very important. We're effectively an object. Could you provide a sample vote for it? I'm having a hard time visualizing what it would be like.

Also is the vote open for 3 days, but the threadmark only for three hours? why?

[X] Machine Spirit Quest

The Cult of Mars needs some love and the concept seems truly unique as a quest concept. Daemon or not, the alternative seems similar to this quest in terms of what would be done.

@saganatsu

For a sample vote, this is what it would look like:

[X] has decided to use You to do [Y]. How do you aid him?

[] Option A?
-[] Sub-Option A?
-[] Sub-Option B?
[] Option B?
[] Option C?

This, of course, would change very quickly once you got into more autonomous units to inhabit, such as a Castellan or a Vehicle.

Would we serve the same master throughout or would we get new ones over time?

You would change as you got things to inhabit. After all, what kind of guardsman would be running around as the master of an Ark Mechanicus?
