Just so we're clear, Spoken Peace wiped out what, 40%? of a full Regular Fleet in an instant. That's incredible.

I'm certain that this just escalated us on the Shiplord threat matrix to the big leagues. We need to know what we're dealing with.

And, as a somewhat silly vote choice, but an honest echo of something I would be very surprised to learn @Snowfire 's reference pool didn't contain given the imagining of the Shiplords...

They can't inform on us if there are no survivors!

Courier drones. Already charging up.

Also, I will do an outline of what each vote proposed will mean when I get home from class tomorrow.

For now, sleep.

Also, please do vote anyway. Explanations should codify votes, but I'd like to see your thoughts, too.

I feel like if we're concerned about what the couriers will get away with, perhaps we should focus on grand diplomacy -- establishing a reason why the Shiplords shouldn't just throw a War Fleet at us at the next opportunity. If we can't prevent a message getting back, maybe we should influence what the message is.

FYI, when you want a Write In to have any real chance of occurring, you need to either make it very clear what kind of write-ins you're looking for in the very post itself, or you need to take out the pre-made options. Otherwise, someone will pick the pre-made option, and it will just bandwagon from there.

I'm a mathematician, I must solve for y. :V

Also
[jk]Who are you? What do you want?

Turn the ancient questions upon the elder race! :p

On a more serious note, Kalilah is...reacting sooo much better than I expected, at least in the moment. I'm sure if/when the consequences become clear in the aftermath that might change, but she was together enough to pull Amanda out of the fire immediately after being pulled herself. Serious kudos to her.

It seems vaguely thematic, that the Third Battle of Sol would end with a question similar to that of the Second.

This is the sort of question that only *silly cows* would ask.

What does the nat 100 mean? Are there still going to be consequences? Was it just a roll on the power of the Word?

Amanda keeps saying she doesn't want to be worshipped, and then she goes ahead and does this shit.

I think it means we didn't suffer the obvious negative consequence of Amanda trying to twist the meaning of Mending, or Kalilah dieing or reacting the way Amanda expected (angry at the prevented sacrifice). We may be lucky enough that it also means no personal consequences beyond whatever pops up in the upcoming conversation with the Shiplords, but who knows?

Historically, that hasn't been true in this quest. We've had several cases where write-ins picked up lots of traction. It actually seems like this quest does better with write-ins when some basic suggestions are offered and then the playerbase has a reason to improve upon them. We kinda got stymied when we got a write-in-only vote.

I think that Why is a good choice to understand what they are doing (it's easier than asking one of likely many threats to "leave"), but I can also see this point in time as potentially being a chance for Collaborate or Diplomacy - statistically, we've done a good job and may be able to 'bring it to the table' with the Shiplords. But, likely those options also involve understanding Why to start with...

The other ones I've seen suggested so far are Surrender and some other forms of collaboration. I'm not sure if Surrender is really a great idea... I suppose I should ask if it is even technically possible? With conventional modern warfare, you remove the weapons and people are mostly harmless (yes, there's psychological and other warfare, but..). Potentials.... don't need to be within fist-fighting range to get inflicted with a lot of damage. They could be in a completely empty room with nothing to use as a weapon, and still probably have the capability to destroy a fleet of warships.... in fact, space kinda is a big 'empty' space anyways from our current understanding...

I can only wonder what the perspective of the Shiplords is. If they've never seen speaking before, this may be the first time they've survived to see it. I'm thinking back to the first contact we had with those other space races a while back. Imagine how frightening Amanda must be to the Shiplords if so - she said a word or two and destroyed part of a fleet of craft. That's a lot of power for one thing, by any standard. We - nor they - seem to know how potent a conversation could be with such a person. The perspective of the Shiplords would have been an interesting write in actually for the last one... missed chance I guess :D
