Shouldn't Leaf study the Safari Zone? It's her pokemon ffs and it looks like we're doing all the hard work.
I mean we're talking about Leaf here. The kid who thinks about going after a very dangerous Pokémon with no backup as her starter.
Also we're going over Gary's notes, which help massively.

[x] Study Gary's Notes (1 Day)
→ [x] Safari Zone North (Safari Area 2) (in-depth)

We really shouldn't be training yet. Still gotta talk to professors after this too

Folks, not to be obvious or anything, but we have to finish up our plans for our Pokemon and talking to professors before the test. Neither safari zone north or agility training will help with our interviews.

To my mind, we need to talk to Traps Guy and we need to talk to Equipment Guy. @wdango Do we need to research Fuschia in order to answer geography questions, or can we skim by going 'yeah, definitely trapping this Pokemon in the safari zone'? I am hoping Silver or Gary gave us a little advice on this at the meeting, maybe Silver because it's social? I don't want to sink 4 days into researching Fuschia outskirt geography. >.>

Here's my draft list for each teacher for y'all to look at while I wake up and make some tea. Sorry these are a bit of a mess, I've been collecting questions from different people.

Professor Blaustein
(See below.)

Professor Elm
  1. Is there standard equipment given to all students, and how heavy is it?
  2. Here's my draft equipment list for my capture, will there be a problem with any of these?
  3. What else might I need for navigation in the Safari Zone? For instance, I already have a machete on my equipment list.
  4. How does one bottle sleep powder and so on, anyway? I'm going for an Oddish and would like to be able to harvest useful powders.

Equipment List (max 30 kg)
Pokeball
Standard weapons (sniper rifle, shuriken, etc)
Silencer(s)
Standard survival kit (tents, survival rations, etc)
Clothes & light armor to protect against acid and razor leaf
Gloves
Filter masks
Ear plugs
Sleeping powder (1-2 doses for an Oddish)
Collapsible watering can
High quality, fast absorbing liquid fertilizer
Incendiary grenades (2)
Other trapping supplies?
Potions (3)
Antidotes to: poison, sleep, paralysis (6 doses)
Repel (lots)

Edit: Anyone want to explain why they're voting for agility training? I am puzzled by that one.

Alright, here's my go-and-see-Bill plan. I'm limiting it to 10 questions because that's around when Joy started not very subtly acting like she wanted to throw us out of her office, and the point here is to have the Professors not think we're a jock who wouldn't touch a book unless it was to throw it during target practice.

[x] Talk to Professor Blaustein. (1 Day)
→ [x] Cross-check all three capture plans, especially the traps and sniping details.
→ → [x] I'm going to be executing a non-combat capture of an Oddish. I'll be tracking it at night, watching it bed down during the dawn, and then sneaking up on it and drugging it with a mixture of sleep powder and fast-absorbing fertilizer. Can you give me your general feedback on this plan?
→ → [x] If the sleep powder we bring does not work on Oddish, I am planning to take its leaves off to induce hibernation. What are my chances of this working, is there a better method you recommend?
→ → [x] I'm concerned about area control, both during captures and when we're camping at night. What's the best light-weight traps I can use to discourage wild pokemon from interrupting? Maybe caltrops or nets?
→ → [x] Are there any substances we can use to convince unwanted Pokemon to, um, leave us alone? I am going to request Repel, but I'm assuming supplies are limited. Maybe poisoned ammunition?
→ → [x] I'm assisting Cadet Silver with his Nidoran capture, and wondered about the best tranquilizer round and sniping approach to use for a Nidoran.
→ → [x] Do you have any advice on driving pokemon into traps, or goading them to approach you over trapped terrain?
→ → [x] What bait would be most useful for an Oddish or Nidoran trap? I'm going to be bringing liquid fertilizer.
→ → [x] How damaging a trap can I use, in general, without endangering a capture?
→ → [x] I'm going to be executing a double-lung set of sniping shots on a Kangaskhan. Do you have any tips about any rifle attachments or ammunition I should be thinking about for this shot?

The problem with training with the new mechanics is it's very hard to eek out a full point in anything before we're off to the jungles. I, too, really want to do training, but I'd advocate trying to get a strength point, since agility takes even more time we don't have, and strength will interact with our weight limit/travel times mechanic. We're looking at two weeks or so of solid training either way. I'm more interested in picking up the situational bonuses we get from talking to professors and research, like the +Kangaskhan action bonus we got from Gary's lecture.

Though it doesn't feature in the actual plan, just to emphasize we don't need to dig it up and bag it. A simple pokéball to the leaves will do.

Not sure if you'd change anything in the plan, but...

Are there any better ways of debilitating an electricity and drug-resistant buried plant than sleep powder?
I think the Oddish not moving removes the need to debilitate it. Don't we have gas masks for any spores it would use? And the soil would muffle its cries as we touch our pokeball onto its leaves (with some smacking it from above beforehand)?
My backup plan for Oddish capture is taking its leaves off to induce hibernation before attempting capture. Can you give me your general feedback on this plan?
This kinda covers the above. I don't know if there's some other questions we could ask Bill? He's the Traps, Marksman, Drugs, and Tools guy. Maybe something about what place to shoot on a nidoran to get through its skin? It looks like it has plating on some places.
Just a nitpick. Shouldn't we use ranks if we're being formal in a military university? Like "Lt. Silver" or something. (just an example, not sure what Silver's actual rank would be, though Kotone would know.

Just some of my thoughts, though I guess talking with professors is important.

Edit: Anyone want to explain why they're voting for agility training? I am puzzled by that one.
Cuz they wanna be fast. Vroom.

I'm happy to edit/consolidate the questions to get the most use out of them, though I'd like to stick to a maximum of ten to avoid Professor-wishing-we-would-just-go-away-itis. The second Oddish question might well be redundant.

I have a 'best way to snipe a Nidoran' question in there, hopefully it covers basic things like hit location.

Yes, I've edited it to Cadet Silver. Good catch.

Hint towards a Pokemon Riot Quest?
wDango ran one of those a while back, actually.

Shouldn't Leaf study the Safari Zone? It's her pokemon ffs and it looks like we're doing all the hard work.
It's her pokemon, but all of us are running an op in the safari zone. Our chances of survival are best if all of us have researched it.

That said, it should probably be done *after* the interviews.

I think the Oddish not moving removes the need to debilitate it.
Not so. A sleeping Oddish, while currently not moving, will wake up if touched by a pokeball, unless somehow debilitated.

Yeah the Nidoran question is fine as is, I believe.

Maybe word the Oddish Inquiry as something like "If the sleep powder we bring does not work on Oddish, I am planning to take its leaves off to induce hibernation. What are my chances of this working, is there a better method you recommend?"
So the two questions can merge into one!

Fixed, great. I didn't like how I'd phrased the hibernation question either.

Yes, we are going into the freaking Safari Zone for absolutely no reason, why do you ask?

Edit: I'm actually surprised such a risk-averse hivemind as we seem to be would actually choose to possibly die for Leaf's convenience. I guess we can't back out now without looking bad?

This isn't a proper deathworld quest without leaping into danger head-on!
... with tons of prep work of course.

So steel yourself and remember:
There can be no Bravery...
Without Madness...
