You have reached the age of 16, growing wiser and more powerful. You have been through what your other Neophytes declared a 'second growth spurt', shooting up in height, stature, and physical abilities. (Strength, Toughness, and Agility have gone up by 1.
You can no longer receive EXP from training Strength, Toughness, and Agility.) You have also been implanted with another multitude of Organs. The
Oolitic Kidney, which provides a defense against airborne poisons, along with regulating the other parts of your Physiology. The
Neuroglottis, which gives you an unnaturally useful sense of smell, providing the means to 'sniff' out poisons in meals, the nutritional content in said meals, or potentially finding faint trails when tracking something. The
Mucranoid, which creates a waxy protein substance that provides defenses against extreme heat, cold, and vacuums. And finally, The
Betcher's Gland, which allows you to spit acid at enemies. However, you find out that the more common use for it is to aid in digesting normally inedible materials, such as cellulose.
You have decided to take it easier on your training, spending more time with your other Neophytes. First is Tyris, who excitedly declares to you that he will be hosting a Chess tournament today. It seems like he's caused a stir of interest in the game, and some people are wanting to play. He then asks you if you want to enter, to which you respond positively. He beams and brings you over to a courtyard within the Fortress-Monastery. You see a group of Neophytes playing with their own Chess sets, but they are much more crude-looking than Tyris's. They most likely carved their own. The tournament goes...
(d100=54)
Rather averagely, if you consider it. You didn't win, something which astounds your fellow Neophytes, but you did make it to the top 4 people. You do feel a bit of kinship with them, a bit more than you had before. It was rather fun to talk with them, considering the possible strategies people are using. From what you can tell, Tyris considers this to be a smashing success.
(Gained: +54 Fellowship EXP, +1 SL rank[Tyris].)
You also go to your Friend Hollus, hoping he is available to meet.
(d100=39)
He is, but he is rather tired. you decide to take it easy with him, training his stamina with some long distance runs. He appreciates the sentiment, and you two take most of the time just speaking about his experience with his trainer. His name is Koratos, and he sounds like one of the most Brutal trainers ever. Forcing him to make a combined 15 hours of physical training, followed by 3 hours of Mental and Warp-based training, before letting him off to eat and sleep. You can see the benefits of this regimen, but it is also tearing into his ability to respond to other stimuli. You hope this won't cause a detriment to him...
(Gained: +1 SL rank[Hollus].)
You also go and meet with your newer friend, Siegfried. When you knock on his door, he originally seems surprised but warms up when he founds out that you just want to spend time with him. He appreciates the sentiment and takes you out to the firing range. He seems to take great pride in his Ballistic Skills, and he hopes to see how well you can shoot. With the challenge clearly laid before you, you accept the competition. It goes...
(Ballistic Skill Check! d100+50(BS-5) vs d100+50(BS-5)+15(Bolter Mastery) =94 vs 98. Bare Failure!)
Not poorly, per se, but you do lose. Siegfried barely edges out a win, and despite how close it was, he finds himself inspired to improve further on his Gun Mastery. You find yourself oddly 'pumped up' to do the same. Perhaps this is what losing feels like?
(Gained: +1 SL rank[Siegfried]. Gained event: Arms Duel (When spending time with Siegfried, roll d100 for Ballistic Skill gain.)
You also decide to focus your time into training your raw intellect.
(d100=74)
It goes rather well. You can approach problems with a different mindset, and that is near vital on a battlefield.
You also spend some time in the Reclusiam, ruminating on how you feel towards your Brothers.
(d100*0.5=43)
You feel as if you have made a bit of progress, but it doesn't seem very helpful.
Your only mandated course of action is practice with your Biomancy, in which you...
(d100=90)
Do very well. You feel as if you have broken through a bottleneck, and this rings true when you practice, the other Codicers declare a sanctioned Biomancer, meaning you can use Biomancy with enough skill to not be monitored constantly by the Librarians. They also say that you could choose a new discipline, but would suggest that you hold off on it until you have trained a couple more Biomantic powers, including the oh so popular Regeneration.
