Oh boy that is a solid problem. Would the Marakites be willing to wage war as we were both deceived? Also do we know where their main force is?

Hey Azel is it too late to shank their god-king before he goes away? I imagine nothing hurts the legitimacy of their rule than their god-king being hurt or murdered by mortals.
The chapter end was deliberately chosen to allow you to kill the Chosen if you want.

Do not expect the Makarites to like this.

So i WAS right, our units are shit!?... if we only won through sheer luck. That sucks.
:(
So definitely need to retreat, we only beat a bunch of fanatical mobs only through sheer luck, we stand zero chance against anything not complete ass.

My plan doesn't work. There's no reason the Makarites wouldn't just march straight to Greenvalley chasing the light infantry, and they couldn't hold them off alone. Also no, the Makarites will not agree to raid Brushcrest with us. That's silly. They're Blood Knights, why would they let us join in on their loot pinata for nothing?

...fuck it, let's roll.

[] Do something else.
-[] First of all, fucking merk that chosen.
-[] As in the previous plan, juke east towards the river. Do not cross the river, though. Head immediately south and then west, towards Makar. Their host shouldn't be too far behind their scouts; by the time they see the feint, they should be north-east of our force. Don't try to conceal our tracks heading south though; if they don't realize we're going for the god-king, they might head for Greenvalley.
-[] Head straight for Makar, cross the river and attack the site to incite a slave rebellion. Once we've taken it, all we need to do is defeat the force pursuing and run like hell for Greenvalley.

For the ashes of his fathers, and the temples of his gods.

Chosen-slaying is optional, it very well might incite the villagers to attack us...but fuck that dude.

Wait he is a god-king right? Does he have a harem? Or a wife? Offering the daughter of a chieftain or a prominent member as a bride could work...

Said mobs have a proud history of utterly wrecking everything else in the riverlands. They are not "harmless rabble".

 Attacking the envoy is a stupid idea. That'll only encourage the Marakites to follow us home and kill us.

[X] Try to flee. You still have a day before his warriors are in Riverbend.
-[X] Flee immediately to keep as large a distance to the pursuers as you can.

If we can make it to the mountains they would hesitate to follow, even if they do we just need to make it to our walls.
They can't actually DEFEAT Stone Walls yet...

of course it's a stupid idea

what's your point? we're in full spite everything mode. and honestly the only way we can stop an immediate sack of greenvalley is by pissing them off as much as possible. or taking the deal, which we seem pretty set on not doing.

The Chosen of Makar are an oligarchic cross between priests and nobles who run the proto-state here. Makar himself is a legendary chieftain of times long past who is venerated as a deity.

Makar the village is tje site where they are building him a temple and the political and social center of the proto-state.

My point is it's a stupid idea, therefore we shouldn't do it.

Brushcrest if they attacked us while our troops were away, are just sitting around our Capital, because they can't actually break through the walls, If we can make it back to the Mountains, the Makar will have a hard time chasing and since we have close religious and cultural ties to the White Clans, we now have allies nearby.

Note for the future. If the deal is coming from the mouth of a Diplo hero then we should shove and just kill him there or tell him to fuck right off.

Yeah, I want to clarify my use of 'god-king' here in my plan was not in the singular divine monarch sense, but the general "divine rulers" sense. I'm willing to drop killing the Chosen, but I really do think that attacking Makar is probably the best way to secure our escape from their territory. The Chosen's army here is after us because they had advance knowledge of our attack; if we out-maneuver them and attack Makar, we should (hopefully) be able to turn back and push them aside before any reinforcements come from the other villages.

The problem with retreating straight to Greenvalley is that there's no win state there. The Makarites and Brushcrest settle in for a siege, or (more likely) head home and come back regularly to beat on us. I don't want to play to not die a while longer, I want to play to win. Could we actually debate solutions, instead of lamenting the situation we're in and dreaming up revenge fantasies against the Brushcrest guys?

edit cuz ninja: the current status of Greenvalley is irrelevant. If they're holding the walls, great, if they're not, shit. Our job right now is to preserve our raiding party and if possible do enough damage to keep the Makarites from following us back. We can do that.
