So when's Iris getting her sisters then? :p

I believe we're voting No as well? Or have I gotten confused somewhere, always possible...

I am a bad and somehow messed up the vote.

Yes should lead to a subvote, No does not. This is now fixed.

Ooh~, an update. Let's get to this, then.

I always find this perspective fascinating! It's all just like I remember, but what I remember isn't quite what you've written here. It's like, um, Koharu would say you make them people. Not that they aren't normally, but, well, Amanda is kind of... though I guess I'm on first-name terms with her, so...

Er, here's some things I found interesting. This is how you do it, right?

"Do you mean the conference?" You asked, and your friend frowned delicately, as if considering her reply with great care. She probably was.
Does she ever not? ...maybe when she hasn't had her coffee yet.
"Mary," you breathed, the name almost less than a sigh as you set down your spoon and reached out to catch her free hand with your own. "It means that one day, our daughter will probably have to make a similar choice. And from what we've seen here, that might not be so easy."
Mary and Mandy, sitting in a tree...

Okay, but there are some things I'm not sure I want to see, and "Iris raising a child" is really, really, almost certainly one of them. Haven't you noticed? She's terrible at being an adult. She'd go down to their level, and that's not bad, but she's much better at talking to peers than at... I mean, I'm pretty sure she only tried to be a babysitter once, and it was probably a disaster. Aya won't stop giggling when she talks about it.

She's a much better sister than mother.

Probably.
"But she'll have her friends, and us, and everyone else that the Unison Intelligences have had if she wants them."
Whether she likes it or not!
"We knew what we were getting into when we made that choice," you paused thoughtfully, before grinning at your friend. "Well, we thought we did, at least. This is just another part of that."
The first half of that sentence had better be a lie, you two.

Okay, but this whole thing? Pretty neat, if you ask me. I like reading the story. Don't think I'll be voting much -- not sure what sort of metaphysical mess that would make of things -- but I'll be around. There's a couple of things coming up that I really want to see your reaction to. It's going to be, mm, hilarious.

I won't spoil you, of course.

...that's later. I'm a little sad about what's next.

@Snowfire was my point about offering Practice enhanced governance/socialization for UIs addressed in the background?

This one I mean
@Snowfire there's an important aspect to all of this I just realized hasn't been addressed: Are the Unison Devices operating under the benefits of social/governmental Practice enhancement? If so, ok. If not, then an interesting factor for the humans involved would be the this being the second time they've ever really interacted with decision making that doesn't have Practice greasing the wheels ... and should probably offer to apply that grease.

On a related note, is there anything Amanda's study of the Music Of Society (or whatever you call that network/song that she crushed L.I.F.E. for) could offer up as help? Such as supplying the Unison network with a holistic snapshot of humanity?
