Let's see, what could each option do? Time for some speculation!

[ ] Inspect the pictures on the desk. - If there are pictures in your mind/sould/hearth/whatever_it_is, they are usually connected with memories, often the good ones. Inspecting them might remind us of our past with SEES or something?

[ ] See if you can't make out something from the notebook. - Not sure what notebook are we talking about... The first thing that comes to my mind is Persona Compedium, but then it would probably be a book, not notebook. I see it as the most random options, except for leaving... Maybe a diary or inteligence/magic boost? Or re-learning some skill? It probably won't be a note from someone like Lavenza, because I don't think QM would make it so easy to miss... I hope...

[ ] Check the closet. Future you has to wear something besides the school uniform, right? - Armor, most likely? Either we remember something about the way we fought, get some defensive boost, or... I don't think we can get an actual equipment?

[ ] ...Right. There's a spear. That's actually pretty cool. - Same as above, though it's weapon, not armor, so the boost would be offensive one.

[ ] ...What happens if you go out the door? - We probably see something strange, maybe even lovecraftian strange, then meet the Shadow. Or something is really wrong with our mind and it will be dangerous, but we will have to deal with it anyway. Personally, I think checking the room first is a good idea.

Well, that's my analysis. It's probably completly wrong, but whatever. As for my choice for voting?

[X] See if you can't make out something from the notebook.

I simply like it the most, though the spear is a close one...

Because while all the options probably have some shiny attached... We got plenty of time to re-learn spear fighting, Ken already instinctively recognizes those he met, and going outside likely won't net us much.

It is possible the "spear" and "closet" options get us equipment, because this is probably (the closest thing to) Ken's Palace and taking things from them is very much possible. Still, between Morgana and SEES, getting decent gear won't be too problematic.

Why in the world do you mention Morgana?

Because as the veteran Metaverse explorer, he clearly had to be able to identify the usefulness of items on his own. So it shouldn't be too difficult for Morgana to gauge if Ken found decent equipment.

Except that Mementos doesn't exist currently. And even if it did, Ken has no way of getting to TOkyo and back. Nor even a way to enter the Metaverse.

Also, who uses spears in the Phantom Thieves? And who says Morgana even pays attention to equipment quality considering every piece of their equipment is fake and only works in the Metaverse as actual armor and weaponry.

@SeekerofDreams: Would Morgana be at least somewhat helpful in judging equipment quality? Mean, the Phantom Thieves actively had to get better equipment, instead of cheating their way to Infinity+1 gear by thinking really hard.

Huh... Does Ken even have any gear and/or accessories at home that would actually do anything meaningful? Can't imagine bundling himself up with a bunch of shirts would buff his Defense at all.

I mean, he spent a lot of time in Akira's bag while he was going over equipment specs? So he picked up a bit from that. Kind of useless when it comes to things the PTs didn't have, though. Like spears.

Pictures sound like memories. We need those more than power at the moment

Well, this will be... interesting.

Remember one of the options from early on in the quest? Shadows need something to do besides make snarky comments and give their wielders bad ideas, after all.

Selective Omission
There's a notebook sitting on the desk. The last time you were here, it was open, though you couldn't see anything- well, anything comprehensible, at least, though it may have been just upside-down. This time, it's firmly shut. Light orange cover.

It's labeled 'Property of Ken Amada's Shadow' in golden ink pen, which makes you feel a bit guilty about opening it without Nemi here, but, well... 'I am thou, thou art I', and all that. It'll probably be fine.

You half expect it to be a journal or something- and it is, sort of. You think. It takes a few moments for the kanji on the page to become something you can understand, and you think that's just because this is your mind and you're telling it to become something you can read. Stupid complicated written language...

Admittedly, the fact that it's yellow writing on a white page does not help.

Dec. 27, 2006- I experience the Dark Hour for the very first time. Well, that I'm fully awake for, I suppose that it could have happened sooner. I doubt it, though. My nightmares at that point were still stuff you'd expect from a normal little kid, rather than green streets full of blood and Shadows. Not full proof, but it's an idea.

May 12, 2007- I hear Shadows in the distance for the first time. Akihiko-san says that it was probably the pride of lions he, Shinjiro-san, and Mitsuru-san ended up fighting that night, though he didn't give me any details in the previous timeline. In this one, however, I have been given reason to believe that Mitsuru-san ended up doing a major portion of the work. As it was quiet enough for me not to hear any sort of combat, and Shinjiro-san was part of SEES at that point, I have no reason to disbelieve it.

June 24, 2007- A few Shadows pass beneath my window, and I catch sight of them. No sign of any Persona Users that night. Also my ninth birthday. But that's not as important. I am unsure as to whether the Shadows took notice of me or not, as I had not awakened a Persona by that point in time, and Shadows don't use the door. It doesn't matter. They're gone now.

Oct. 4, 2007- The house is destroyed by ---------- by a rogue Persona. Mom dies. I do not take it well.

You pause and try to make out the part that was scratched out. No luck. Whatever was written there, it has been scribbled on so thoroughly that there's no chance of it ever becoming legible again.

"You know, I really shouldn't be surprised. And I'm not, for the most part. I just... hoped I was mistaken." You turn to see Nemi, standing in the middle of the room as if he'd always been there. Which he might have been. You don't know. "How far did you get?"

"Entry four." You poke at the three-sentence entry. "There's not a lot there, though..." The fifth entry has several more sentences- it's the fifteenth of December. The day the time travel thing happened.

Nemi sighs and snatches the notebook from your hand. "Hey!"

"It's not yours," He tells you. "Not really. There's things here that you don't need to know yet."

"Are you sure about that? Because the future's one of those things it would probably be important to know about..."

"Shadows- and Personas- don't lie," He tells you. You consider pointing out that he's a Persona, but think better of it. Instead, you'll...

[ ] Ask why he has this notebook.

[ ] Ask why he has a spear.

[ ] Ask about the blotted out section.

[ ] Ask where he came from.

[X] Ask about the blotted out section.
-[X] A rogue Persona huh? Am I going to freak out at the person that did it? Is that why I'm not ready to know about it?

For once can we not push the Shinjiro button.

[X] Ask why he has this notebook.

Well, definitely informative to know that... knowing too much would just result in bad outcomes. Huh, higher Empathy might make it okay for Ken to know sooner. Really, I'm betting a lot of his future knowledge is deliberately being held back because he doesn't have the Social Stats for them.

[X] Ask where he came from.

The notebook is clearly just Nemi keeping track of things, and Ken should believe himself when he says he isn't ready. The spear is pretty self-evident, though we might get it as an actual weapon.

Thus, the only thing Ken can't already deduce, is where Nemi even went. Presumably we'll also get some answer regarding why Ken has been pulled in there twice already.
