There is a creature in Star Wars called an Ysalamiri. If you are inside the protective bubble it projects, you are completely insulated from the Force or Force powers. You are not however insulated from the physical side effects of the Force, so a Force user can still lob a rock at you.

Something similar may apply to Dementors. They may be immune to magic, but magical spells can still create physical effects. Of course, maybe dementors are, in Worm terms, projections of a magical effect, in which case fire, whether physical or magical, will not affect them, and walls should not stop them either.

Seems testable. Let's do everything, run, gun, yell for Nelly.

BTW, I don't know if it's a translation thing, but Dumbledore is Headmaster, not Director, of Hogwarts.

[x] Plan Don't Panic
- "Everybody, run!"
- Run.
- Action Sequence Battle: perform in order as previous steps complete
-- Yell "Can anyone conjure walls?"
-- Fire off an Incendio behind you
-- Fire off a Protego behind you
-- Fire off a Jelly-Jinx behind you
- Action Sequence Evac: perform in order as previous steps complete
-- Call for Nelly
-- Pick Nelly up if she appears, don't let her drop behind you
-- Take note of which runner is last
-- "Emergency! Apparate us to the kitchen!"
-- At Nelly: "Go get <whoever was last>, then in order, back to front."
-- Yell at the other house elves: "Students in danger in front of the castle! Get a teacher!"
-- Wait for a teacher in case they take you literally
-- Explain.

The yelling about walls is first because 1. we can't, 2. maybe someone else can, 3. it has the highest odds of success.

The point of this evac sequence is to both set up the correct order of evacuation, and get us in a place where we can amplify our ability to make plans in an instant: ie. where other house elves are. We know Nelly; it's more likely she'll listen to us, so the plan gives the other house elves a plan that ties into "the sort of order a Hogwarts elf would naturally be inclined to follow."

edit:

[X] We need a Hero - Call for Nally while gathering everyone to retreat as you talk. When she appears, ask her to go and quickly gather enough house elves to evacuate our group to the Great Hall.

Basically the same plan, with less verbosity.

She doesn't instinctively know where everyone is. If you want Jacob to tell her to bring a teacher for help out of the Stadium, that is a different vote than to ask her to get you out.

She won't be able to Apparate more than one person at a time. So I need an order of how you want to retreat, if that is the plan @Nurgle

And if you want for her to bring a teacher, then that is what the plan should entail. Because she cant do two things at the same time. @Funeral Pyre

So, please a step by step thing. I don't want to misrepresent the vote.

Would this be acceptable?

Would he not be fighting off hundreds of dementors at the stadium?

Wasn't Dumbledore enough on his own in canon or am I misremembering?

Thanks for pointing it out. My German brain mixes languages up sometimes.

Yes. I'll add it to the options.

Dumbledore is not in the best shape right now because of Jacob revealing the ghost of sally Anne.

Sally-Anne butterfly cause demenetors to snag Potters soul thus allowing Jacob to become the new main protagonist! :V

Why not ask Nelly to transfigure a sphere thick enough to keep the demenetors drain attack at bay?

With hundreds of student that need to be protected. Also none of those teachers are in Dumbledore league of power and skill. It may require all of them to protect the students.

My general thoughts are we get 'ported to the great hall, and then ask Nally if she can gather as many Hogwarts elves as possible to start evacuating students from the Quidditch stands.

[X] Heads or Tails – There is nothing that you can do to kill a Dementor, but to hurt it? Inconvenience it? You have no clue. This would be the testing of a hypotheses that you had never got to write down. Either it was possible, and you would survive somehow, or you would lose your soul here. Stand your ground and fight while retreating back into the castle.

[X] Heads or Tails
- Throw cheering charms at it
- Yell for the older years to put up a wall or something

I'm currently planning out a plan for next month. If we're not getting anything to replace the secret exits in Hogwarts this upcoming month we could sacrifice four actions to get two more personal and do things with them. I'm thinking of spending two personal actions each on expelliramus and Protego in an effort to get them in the first round and considering the fifth to be used to get Avifors. Thoughts?
I would advocate having us do another round of training DADA, Transfiguration, and Charms which would put them all at P-. At that level I feel we can leave them alone for the rest of the year while we focus on other subjects like Potions, the Mind Arts, etc. Basically, push DADA, Transfiguration, and Charms up one more level so we don't have to worry about it for the rest of the year and can work on other things. As for the spells Protego and Expelliarmus, I think we should consider spending only one personal action on them as they both have a 100 DC, it is still possible to complete it in one try with a good roll. So, I think a potential plan next month could look something like this if we can burn some actions to get another personal action:

-[] Train, Learn, Achieve – Defence Against the Dark Arts
-[] Train, Learn, Achieve – Transfiguration
-[] Train, Learn, Achieve – Charms
-[] Do your research – Protego (Needed for exams at the end of the year)
-[] Do your research – Expelliarmus (Needed for exams at the end of the year)
-[] Do your research – Avifors (Needed for exams at the end of the year)

Because while it is unlikely that we will complete Protego and Expelliarmus with one action, it is still possible to get it. That is my take on it at least.

Looking up from your place at the Ravenclaw table, you watched the headmaster talk to Professor McGonagall. Where he had not looked older than seventy just a month earlier, now you could see the full weight of the one-hundred-and-twelve years the headmaster carried on his shoulders. Where he usually looked healthy and always carried a twinkle in his eye, now Dumbledore looked scraggy, old and tired. His face had sunken and his eyes were framed by deep shadows.
I think he will bounce back from this. It may take a month or two for him to get back in shape, but given enough time I think he will recover.

"Gryffindor leads by eighty points to zero and look at that Firebolt go!" you heard the commentator shout in the distance.

A Firebolt? Who had that kind of money?

"Potter's really putting it through its paces now, see it turn - Chang's Comet is just no match for it, the Firebolt's precision…"
And he already has a Firebolt. So he either bought it himself, or he got it from Sirius already.

Two Dementor's had broken from the rest of the pack, changing their route mid-air to fly into the direction of the castle… heading right at you.
Transfiguration should slow them down a bit if needed. They can't pass through obstacles, they have to go around them as unlike ghosts the material world still affects them. So if necessary making obstacles in their path should do in a pinch. Also, if anyone dies from this then the Ministry is screwed and Fudge can kiss his job goodbye. The only reason that didn't happen in canon is because Dumbledore was able to work his magic and save everyone. With the current situation, things might get dicey.

Because plain "we need a hero" seems to lack the fighting retreat part.

Was considering replacing Avifores with one of the three and get the rest to P- with the other two actions. Or getting two more Personal Actions to bring Potions up to D+ in hopes to getting all 4 to P- the month after that.

[] Run and Elf - tell the group to run to the castle and call for Nally to help. Get Nally to help get everyone away starting with the other first and you last. Stand and fight if one of the kids start to falter but fight a retreating battle to the castle.
@Tabula Rasa how is this to include a fighting retreat too?

I mainly just want to do the 3 courses we have been doing one more time to just get them out of the way. Especially while leveling them up 1 more time has a 100% success rate. After that we have to roll for them to level up anymore. I think devoting 3 out of the 10 school months we have on training DADA, Charms, and Transfiguration is just the right amount. This way they are out of the way and we can focus on other things. Ideally, after we have them at P-, for the following months we can use 2 of our personal actions on studying for a class (that isn't DADA, Charms, or Transfiguration) and the remaining 3 on learning spells/potions. The reverse of what we have been doing with 3 for classes and 2 for spells. Gradually shifting towards a more spell/potion learn personal action time.

If we manage to study our core classes successfully four times we end up with several skills at A-. That personally is something I'd love to do if just for the potential of not needing to study core classes at all next school year.
