But you had never realized that you knew nothing about her.
It was as if people dismissed ghosts as some sort of afterimage. Just a painting to remember someone who had once been.
That's a bit of a sad truth. The ghosts of Hogwarts, despite being people of a long history and have seen countless years of students come and go, are ultimately just decoration, a part of Hogwart's magical window dressing.
Let's try to amend that and bring some happiness to the Grey Lady's face.
His spell brightened the room until it hit the stage between him and his opponent. The ground protested for a short moment, only for a thick wooden wall to erupt out of it so fast that it was still able to catch the blue spell the other boy had casted.
Nice way of describing Cedric's strength. Hopefully, he makes it past Book 4 this time.
You took your time in standing up and closing the notebook that you had been writing into. You had noted down the spells that you had heard the others use for a later point in the school year, when you had finally tackled some of your current projects.
Are you going to update the spells to research list with the ones he's been writing down.
"I wanted to give you a soft landing"
Ever the gentleman.
you heard the blonde Slytherin shout at you in rage.
She's got reason to be mad. Jacob's been beating every one of her rolls even her crit of 101 by a slim margin of 2. Poor girl, let's never let her win and make her even madder.
[ ] Wands up – It seems as if for the first time in your life there is someone that sees you as their rival in something other than academic prowess. Tracey Davis is working hard to keep up with your dueling progress, you can tell. Go and talk to her.
I have been enjoying Tracey's interactions, but I feel like leaning into the rivalry is setting us up for a fight we won't win. We're not a combat-heavy character. Dueling club was meant to ensure that we kept our combat skill up to par. Tracey's the determined and hard working type, and in the end, she will overtake us because at the end of the day, she'll put more work and exp into beating us than we will in beating her because this is one of her main priorities while for us its just an amusing pass-time.
[ ] Hello Professor – Stay for another few minutes and try to talk to Professor Flitwick. You have not had the chance to talk to your Head of House since both of you had been thrown against his office walls like ragdolls.
Despite what I've said before about laying the case to rest, I do admit I am curious on how the professors feel about Sally-Anne. For decades, that girl was trapped in a time loop, desperate for recognition but too scared to be recognized. That it took so long to free her and that none of the teachers noticed must weigh heavy on them as it was their failure that a classmate, friend, and student's pleas went unheard for so long.
[ ] Look behind your shoulders – While he is steadily looking upwards, trying to catch up to those that are finishing their education in a desperate bit to surpass them before they leave the school, you have your eyes on his back. Cedric Diggory might be the most talented and hard-working member of the club… but that was only until you had joined the class. Go and talk to him.
This is an intriguing option, and I do like how it's worded-the one whose pushing to catch up now realizes there are those who seeking to catch up and surpass him. Nevertheless, I don't think it's warranted as I doubt we'll double-down on combat spells and such in order to catch up to him.
[ ] Detached from this world – Both Tracey Davis and Cedric Diggory are only part of your world inside the club room. There it is the circumstances that make them interesting. Outside of it, they don't matter to you and Professor Flitwick knows to respect your silence. Go, take a shower and and head out to explore the castle again.
While this option does fit Jacob's character and it is true that Tracey and Cedric really only matter to him in the dueling club, it feels detached from the vote and chapter. Half of the chapter has been about the dueling club, and the vote reflects that, offering interactions with its members or it's teacher, and that makes this option feel out-of-place since it's place like a rejection of the other options. It's like a choice between doing something interesting or going home and sleeping.

Going with this one. We're not invested enough in dueling to put in the effort for either a rivalry or to play catch-up with Cedric, and the detached option is too detached.
