And that was after a couple decades of severe, crippling depression and paranoia that left him as a hikikomori. The man didn't train once he got to that point and he was still terrifying.

Which could mean a lot of things right now. There are degrees of crazy.

We could give Hanzo the bargaining chip he needs while also preemptively playing it: Make him the hero of the story before he even does anything. We'd be using authority we sure as hell don't have but that it the spirit of 'it is better to ask forgiveness than permission' and it would be using our Village's momentum in our favor. If we could make Hanzo say "You bunch of cheeky dickwaffles" under his mask while grinning then we will have done our job.

We could violate expectations by just not going home. Short term victory is just not being captured by anybody too nasty. Just get the fuck away as fast and hard as possible. There is clearly a system of rivers going through the buffer states between the great powers. Bird, Ame, Grass, and of course River. Just see how many miles you can go on a boat down that mess and make a plan from there.

We could deal with the land holding powers and not the Villages. Daimyo play their own games and mostly want to stay the fuck out of Village business. They will even contract with other land's Villages if its even slightly expedient. Drop that mass of shit on one's platter and he won't be thinking about how to exploit it: He'll just want you to go home in a way that doesn't get a vendetta in his own court. The same for any power too small to keep us and who doesn't have a close tie to someone like Iwa.

We could make damn sure that the various groups after us RUN INTO EACH OTHER. Most of them want each other dead, even if official war can not be declared. The more chaos, the harder we are to pin down.

We could become very, very visible in a way that is immediately discounted. Or hidden but hidden poorly, disguising ourselves at least superficially as one of the hunter groups after us by some petty non-power.
That's if we get there, alive and unharmed and by our own volition, without any added stops to train, rest, get food etc. Because you got a few hundred miles until that happens.

Edit: and anything can happen on the road from point a to b. And I mean anything.

You know i just realized we missed a major opportunity considering our inability to speak and our clan's whole deal.

We could have made our character image be of Frisk and our beast look like Chara...

Like seriously! How did we miss that?!

Any chance at changing our character image?

*insert hopeful puppy eyes here*

Oh well. Have a pic that i thought might work for our beast when it is hiding in our shadow.

Sakumo Hatake
AN: Chibi White Fang.

Name: Hatake Sakumo

Age: 9

Rank: Genin/ Hatake Clan Heir

Chakra: Chunnin

Traits:

Genin: The Lowest Official rank of The Konoha Ninja force, this character is under the command of a jounin Sensei to expidiate their training, and hopefully become a chunnin. As they are the lowest rank, they normally are placed under the command of Jounin or Chunnin. (This character can take missions from D to A Rank Assignments. They are under the command of a Jounin Sensei.)

White Chakra Saber: The Legendary Blade that can only be wielded by the Hatake clan, this blade streaks the air with chakra as it is swung, giving it the illusion of the extra stream of white Chakra. But since it is a chakra infused blade, it has a very high durability, even among other chakra infused weapons. (+10 to all attack rolls. When this blade faces another charka infused blade or suitably powerful jutsu, roll a d100 for it breaking.)

Patient: Calm, Collected and Able to stand being around people that infuriate you, you are a patient person. (+10 to all rolls)

Jutsu's known:

Substitution: An E Rank Jutsu: With this technique, users replace their own body with some other object, generally with a block of wood, the moment an attack lands.

Henge: An E rank jutsu that changes the physical appearance by covering it with a thin layer of chakra and can become anything that the user thinks of, from weapons to trees, to animals. How accurate it is, depends on the user's memories, the chakra reserves of the user and the control of their chakra.

Bushin: An E rank Jutsu that creates an intangible copy of one's own body, without any substance.

Magen: Sasayaku iki, The Demonic Whispers: An E-Rank Jutsu Developed by Mako Kurama when she was a genin, it involves sending Chakra as a cloud around the ear. The effect is the user and the victim being able to speak to each other like Telepathy or the Yamanaka Mind Transfer Jutsu, only without the minds being swapped. However it is easily detectable, and while the chakra usage is nonexistent, it is still noticeable to an untrained user.

Children’s Crusade Brotherhood: On the Road Part 1
Children's Crusade Brotherhood: On the Road Part 1

[X]Burn them: You will grant your friends that small mercy. You will burn their bodies so that they may rest in peace.

You felt a twinge of sadness from your chest as you pour the last of the kerosene on to the bodies of the other academy students. All of them civilians whose crime was wanting to become a ninja.

Their lifeless eyes stared right into your soul, but you did not have time to close them. "It's done." You stated as you jumped off of the back of the wagon.

The tears were there, even from the Stoic Hatake and Orochimaru. Both boys knew that you were all way over your heads, and your plan just to walk home was insane. That you might get caught and die, or worse by enemy nations.

But you had no other option but to keep moving. Someone wanted you alive, and you were not going to find out why.

Ren nodded and started making the hand signs of the Uchiha's favorite jutsu. "Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu!"

The wagon with the bodies of your comrades became engulfed in flames.

Soon their bodies would be ashes in the wind, their souls carried off to the Pure Lands.

"What are we going to do now?" Jiraya asked.

You looked to the east, where the sun always rose in the morning. Your only compass, your only guide. "We walk." You replied.

Following the road, you led the way, your friends following close behind.

Just a bunch children walking away from dead missing-nin and a burning wagon of corpses.

Just a Normal Sight: d100 = 43 vs d100 = 10 (Your scene went unnoticed by all)

[X]Sakumo: 1D100 => 73

Sakumo took a deep breath as he sat down next to you as you rested. The rest of your group hid behind the trees and bushes off of the road, trying to remain hidden from any travelers that would soon travel along the road.

'What is it?' You asked, your fingers moving at a speed that only he could read.

Sakumo slumped. "I did another supply check." That made you nod. "We have 30 kunai, 100 shuriken, 25 explosive tags, one storage seal that is currently in use to hold the heads of the dead missing-nin, 26 cans of dried meat, 12 canteens full of fresh water, ten small first aid kits, 25 Soldier pills and some paint brushes to draw seals with." His voice robotic and tired. He was still drained from the day's events. "If we ration accordingly, this can last us for about two weeks."

There was a pause, and Sakumo stared off into space. 'Sakumo, are you okay?' You signed to him. You knew that something was on his mind.

"I'm sorry." He said.

'Why?' You asked.

"Because I was foolish for thinking about leaving you guys." He replied, hiding his face behind his mask. "I was…"

"Sakumo." Your voice in his mind silenced him. "You were only thinking about how you could save us. If that meant having to leave by yourself so that a Konoha hunter-nin team could save us, it wouldn't matter."

Sakumo looked down. "How do you know how to say the right thing?"

Having a past life's memories helps when finding the words. But theirs also one thing that makes it all work. "Because I see you as my friend. Even if I've been a bad one."

Sakumo looked like he heard something for the first time. "No… You've been a great one."

Reward: Sakumo is now your friend.

[X]Tsunade: 1D100 => 82

You walked beside Tsunade. "Tsunade." You spoke with your genjutsu.

The girl remained silent. "Tsunade."

She looked towards you. "What do you want?"

"How are you holding up?" You asked.

Tsunade looked furious. "How am I holding up?" She whispered. "WE HAVE BEEN KIDNAPPED WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF KAME KNOWS WHERE TRYING TO WALK HOME WITH NO HELP FROM ANYONE!"

When she finished her rant, everyone was looking at her, frightened at Tsunade's anger.

"You're scared… It's okay to be scared." You said emphatically. Well, as best as you could without moving your mouth and getting closer. "I am too."

Tsunade took a deep breath. "We can't be scared, or we'll die." She whispered. "I can't be scared or I'll die."

She said the mantra for a few seconds before. "Don't be scared… We're here." You whispered, allowing Tsunade to see the group.

"And if you're not scared… we won't be." You said.

Tsunade's face cleaned up, and she wiped her eyes, before throwing on a smile. "Well come on than… Daylights wasting Mindstalker."

You smiled, accepting the new nickname in stride.

Reward: your Rivalry with Tsunade has thawed, The journey together may turn you into friends. Ally gained: Tsunade Senju.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Orochimaru: 1D100 => 90

Your friend tried his best to keep up his appearances, but his mind was elsewhere. Thoughts seemed to bombard his head.

"Hey, Oro… everything alright?" You asked.

Orochimaru looked at you. "Ayako… I know this may seem like a loaded question… but do you believe in the afterlife?"

That hit you like a stack of bricks. And not just because you were a reincarnation. "Why are you asking me?"

"Because if we don't make it." He revealed berries in his hand. "Nightlock… Will kill us in a few minutes if we consume them."

Oh… "We're going to make it." You said.

Orochimaru nodded. "The likely hood of us making it back to Konoha all together is slim… I just want to make sure we don't suffer a fate worse than death."

"I do believe in reincarnation." You found yourself saying without thinking. Your words took Orochimaru by surprise. "I believe that when our life ends… we rise again. It might not be the same, but we'll get to see the people we love again, in one form or another." You replied.

Aka sent an image to your mind. It was a group of friends all together. Her friends from her life… and then there were your friends right now. "Look familiar?"

You were all together in a memory… and smiling and standing side by side.

It did… and it filled you with happiness. "Orochimaru… Believe that we will survive, and we will… and if we don't… We'll meet again on the other side."

Orochimaru looked at you, and only the berries in his hands prevented him from rushing over to give you a hug.

Reward: The Darkness within Orochimaru's Heart lessens by your words of hope.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You were resting by a small stream when Sakumo said. "We need to keep training, otherwise we might not stand a chance in escaping again, or being able to fight back. We also need to hunt and fish for some food before we can continue. Otherwise, we'll starve before we reach Ishi" He finished.

He looked back to your group. "We camp here for the next few days."

What do you do?:
(Choose 3) Note: Actions Limited by being on the move.

[]Train Taijutsu: While Sakumo and Yoshi aren't the greatest teachers, they both have a solid grasp on Taijutsu, and can help you learn.

[]Train Jutsu: The Academy three Jutsu, the Henge, the Bushin, and substitution technique are the backbone of all ninja. You must master them before learning anything else. Thankfully Orochimaru and Sakumo and Minako know how to teach it well enough.

[]Spend time With Orochimaru: Orochimaru needs some time to think, but maybe you can bounce some ideas off of his head to make him feel better.

[]Spend Time with Sakumo: Sakumo and you are sharing the leader roll. You trust his judgement , but he always seems to talk to you about issues of supply and morale… Why?

[]Spend time with Asahi: Asahi looks freaked out, like she lost part of herself when she was kidnaped.

[]Hunt and forage for Food: You need some supplies, and the only way to to get them is by foraging from the fat of the land. (If not taken, disaster may strike on the road.)

Who do you spend time with during the next leg of your journey:
(Choose 3)
[]Sakumo
[]Eien
[]Yoshi
[]Tsunade
[]Ren
[]Orochimaru
[]Ashai
[]Minako
[]Jiraya

AN: Enjoy, and plan format please.

Finally, a good roll with Tsunade.

As they are the lowest rank, they normally are placed under the command of Jounin or Chunnin. (This character can take missions from D to A Rank Assignments. They are under the command of a Jounin Sensei.)

Wait, Genin are officially allowed to take A ranks?
I'd think they would be limited to B ranks and below, Chunin to A ranks and only special forces or Jonin are allowed to take on the rare S rank mission.

Orochimaru nodded. "The likely hood of us making it back to Konoha all together is slim… I just want to make sure we suffer a fate worse than death."
uh...
*don't suffer

Is this a plan vote again, or just action-by-action?

When we're already in the wilderness, supplies and morale are far more important to survival than a few last-minute lessons.

Feel that guilt guys? That's us ignoring Sakumo in favor of the 'princess'.

I just want to make sure we suffer a fate worse than death

Both Valid points, but I'm still keeping it because those kinds of C rank missions turning into an A Rank can happen.
Yeah, but that's entirely different from deliberately sending Genin on A-rank missions where they're expected to potentially encounter multiple ninjas of higher-than-Genin rank.

Field elevation of mission rank will always happen. That's normal.
Sending soldiers into a suicide mission, however, is not a sustainable tactic.

Which is why it's very rare to see a Genin get an A Rank without a shit ton of backup or when things have gone to absolute shit and the village leadership is in full desperation mode and in need of a hail mary.

Edit: Or if you've been a genin for 50 years because you've refused to be promoted.

We can't afford to invest everything in one place. At all times someone should be looking out for edibles, whether that is any non-lethal berries Orochimaru is stumbling into or the forty pound sturgeon that just got a chakra blade between the eyes. One good set of eyes with appropriate training should be enough at any one time though. (Also lootables. We are willing to steal ANYTHING that isn't going to bring down heat)

As for training, henge is probably of higher utility if and only if everyone gets a basic degree of it down.

Asahi is having issues. We can't affort to have issues here. And that is beside the fact that they are probably having issues for good reasons... like a damaged or missing hive. That could kill the girl. Or possibly kill US if the remnants of the thing panic.

Because Genin teachers are training soldiers and Kakashi expected Zabuza to be a professional, focusing on killing the clearly vulnerable bridge builder instead of getting distracted by a glory match, thus exposing the Genin to their first on the job death, teaching them the consequences of arrogance, and getting rid of an absolute albatross of a mission (and the guy that tried stiffing Konoha) all in one neat package?

I mean, look at that mission in the anime or manga. Especially on the way to Wave, Kakashi never once moves to protect Tazuna. The only time he ever gets involved is when one of the kids is in danger or gets hurt. In fact, he seems to spend all of his time as far away from Tazuna as he can get. Even when they get attacked by Zabuza the first time, he still grabs the kids instead of protecting the client, leaving a highly visible and vulnerable civilian on his own in the middle of the fog when a supposed "Master of Silent Killing" is right there. That's rather distinctly NOT typical bodyguard behavior.
