[X] Plan Catching Spells and Spinkicks
Updated character sheet. Take a look for those interested.
This time, a little interlude to see how's life in the real world for the US citizens in a hundred year or so. It's quite nice, I would say. After that, we'll return to our usual much-preferred DMMORPG, YGGDRASIL. The update is pretty simple this time, just warming up before I get to the dungeon. You'll get to meet interesting people and mobs, after all! Gotta keep the suspence up. If it works, that is.
Also answering a question. I got asked why do I put so many images in my updates? Its a habit, I got from my years of GMing RPs. Finding image references of the environment, characters and all that and it helps players/readers to better visualize the scene and get a better idea as to what the character looks like and what face they're currently making.
You wake up early as usual. You take a tissue soaked with water and clean yourself thoroughly. You could shower or bath, certainly but the amount of money you'll have to pay at the end of the month is almost exorbitant and you'll be bankrupt and in debt. You certainly don't want that. Water is the most precious resource on Earth. You take your respiratory mask before leaving your room and out of the apartment building you live in. As you take a look at the street, its as much of a depressing sight as always, its fucking filthy like a dump. The only interesting thing that seems to be happening is someone who is getting arrested by the heavily armed policemen.
You only look for a few seconds before moving on to do your early morning run. Not your problem, you have better things to do than being curious and get yourself in problems. You always take the time to run, early in the morning. It helps keep you healthy even in this city that seems to try its hardest to kill you, indirectly. Yeah, you smoke but it doesn't really harm you that much if you can buy a dose of healing nanites to heal any internal damage done to your body. It isn't quite cheap but you buy them irregularly so it's not that much of a problem. You run around the city for an hour or so, before entering a special resting area with breathable air where you can take off your mask. Taking out a few of your nutrition bars, you eat them ravenously. Time to get, to work.
As you arrive at the supermall, you work in. You're still impressed by how fancy and clean all of this look compared to the outside. You could see more than a few what looked like moderately rich people in dresses, suits and other such costly clothing that's probably five times your pay annually. Most people would misunderstand but she has nothing against rich people, most of these people probably worked for it to get such living standards, it didn't simply pop out of nowhere. Some may have not, and they're the people, you despise the most, mainly. You avoid wandering, too much as you go directly to the staff area. In the changing room, you arrived earlier than usual, it seems. The people working in the night didn't end their shift, yet. So you simply settle down outside in the hallway, take out a smoke and enjoy it thoroughly while grinning to yourself as shower thoughts start going through your mind out of boredness. Its unauthorized to smoke in breathable areas, especially in the mall. Not only is there a chance for something to catch fire but you're 'polluting' the air apparently. Well, you aren't quite denying that but the air cleaners in the mall are so powerful it doesn't really matter all that much in the end.
Your short internal existential introspection is interrupted by one of your colleagues. A guy with dead eyes, that seems like the calm dude just going through his life without any ambition or interest. He is just living for the sake of nothing and working tirelessly for nothing but to survive. You kind of both despise and admire this guy.
"Hey, Karen. You came up early. As usual. You know, it's not authorized to smoke here?" You just wave a hand as he salutes you, although when he comments on you smoking, you just send a look his way and he easily shuts up about it, like every day, what a boring routine. He never told the manager, and he's the only one finishing his shift this early as to see you finish up your smoke so it was never really a problem.
"Are the others finishing up, too?" you ask and when you receive a nod in confirmation, you simply return to the women's changing room. Now, where was your locker and with it your cashier staff uniform? The changing room was so big, really. Even after months working here as a full-time employee, you still don't get used to it. For fuck's sake, it's more labyrinthic than a fucking purposefully made labyrinthic dungeon! Fortunately, enough, your locker is not that far so you found it in just a few minutes, although enough time for the others tonight employees to enter and start changing. Ah, damn it. You wanted to be a bit early today! Well, you are but just by a few minutes which is irrelevant. Your locker neighbour speak up.
"Ya! Karen. So it's your turn like, ya know, this time. Hey, like I and thuh other girls are plannin' to go out for late-night partyin'. Do you wanna to join? You just look always gloomy and with that delinquent attitude of yours I know you're better than that, fer shure though! Oh, wow! Anyway, like wanna to join in?" Can you even speak properly? Seriously. You just send her one of those looks as you start undressing yourself to put your staff uniform. A party? Who's hosting that kind of things anyway? What kind of party, the drug-dealing parties? Or the fancy ones with fancy people? The former is a no and the later is a maybe. You'll just definitely look out of place, though. How did they get invited to a party anyway?... Oh. You're reluctant but your ultimate decision is a...
[] Yes.
(Note: Taking, 'Yes' will extend the Interlude for an update and after that we'll return to YGGDRASIL. 'Yes' option could make you meet a few interesting people or not, depends.)
[] No.
[] Wait a minute...
-[] Write-in.
As you put on your staff uniform, you get going to your assigned seat and do your work. Your colleagues said you had a charming smile if you don't show your menacing teeth and keep it simple. So you do so through the whole day, with only noon as a break of an hour or so for light nutritional snacks. Your work goes well, as you keep a professional behavior, the staff uniform you are currently wearing covering your tattoos. You're pretty sure, these well-off people would have been almost immediately turned off by them and you'll get then fired because of that. What depressing but kind of amusing thought. A few guys tried to hit on you, as usual, some were good, others were not but ultimately it didn't matter. You were not interested, you kept the proffessional behavior and most of them seemed to catch on and move on. Good. For a monday, it is going quite nicely.
I got more than a few comments about that, actually. I'm bad at commas, mostly because when I put them, I'm thinking with the French language in mind, not English which is possibly what makes me do that. I'll take a look at the update once more, read it and remove any unnecessary commas.Terran, you're a little heavy on the commas. You can hold back on them a bit more. "Some may have not, and they're the people, you despise the most, mainly" and "Fortunately, enough, your" are a couple of examples. You can replace some of the commas with periods, or just remove them all together. Some of your periods are a bit weirdly placed as well.
Do you want a beta? Because I can help out if need be. Or you could get Grammarly, that's free and helps with punctuation.I got more than a few comments about that, actually. EDIT: And done. Hopefully, it's better now and much lighter and easier to read for you guys. Sorry about that. I'll try to pay more attention to it and not letting my mother tongue interfere in my writing.
I do have Grammarly and I currently use it for all of my updates and no it doesn't help all that much with punctuation. Although, I would be more than happy to have you as a beta for the quest. I will contact you in PMs to further discuss it, later on.Do you want a beta? Because I can help out if need be. Or you could get Grammarly, that's free and helps with punctuation.
