Also, glad that medieval napalm exploded. That stuff could have been the end of us.
Naranbaatar's lost alot of his forces, his trump cards, and his officer corp+advisors are savaged. He'd retain political control if he won, but the casualties from clearing everybody out would mean he'd be too damaged to make any kind of forward contest. He'd be forced to withdraw and rebuild, at best make more raids.

I'd really hoped the damn gates would have held. Now we've got to deal with the Horde breaking through the gates turn 1, the walls lost turn 1, and a climatic battle starting turn 2. At least Vlad showed himself to be a bro and charged the hell out of the enemy, and our arty and archers did a number on them. But since we still don't know how many enemies remain. God this will be interesting. Hopefully Vasily pulls through, or we play as children. And we all know from CKII how playing with a Regent goes...

Well Vasily and Naranbaatar have the same modifiers on them when it comes to the duels, with one exception of one number, they will be evenly matched.

Well, the mongols had annoyingly good rolls, and that plus 40 modifier is just obnoxious. Killing the Khan was the right call, but it just didn't work out. Glad to see Vlad is wrecking shit in the meantime, but right now our duel is purely a matter of luck, which is never a good thing.

Here's hoping our game breaking luck comes through once again?

Vasily needs no luck, he needs cold steel.

But writing omakes won't do any harm either

Well sure, but I'm more concerned about Vasily surviving this fight in particular, since the loss of the fort would most likely lead to the deaths of both Vasily and Zima, and leave a child in charge of two kingdoms.

Vasily and the Khan are practically even in terms of statistics, though the Khan has 40 PC and Vasily has 39 PC, but Vasily might get some kind of bonus.

Defense of Yamatau Part Three: Let it All End.

Alfonso, for all of his anger, was not a man who enjoyed senseless slaughter. He had seen it in his years traveling around the known world.

Fulk was a fool for charging out into the breach, but he was not going to let him die.

Enemy Morale Unaffected due to Commanders Traits.

"ARGH!" Alfonso screamed as he rushed forward, his shield pushing men back. The gates may have been breached, but he was going to push them out.

When he reached Fulk, the old man was barely standing, waving his sword wildly, trying his best to delay anyone entering the gate.

"You stupid old bastard!" He yelled as he pushed the old man behind him. "You're not dying until Vasily tells you to die!"

Ashford and David gathered men around them into a shieldline, joining it themselves, and joined the push to force the Mongols out of the gates, and away from Fulk. Alfonso then shouted, "Get the General back into the fort! We'll hold the line!"

His order was clear. Alfonso was going to hold this line. Even if it killed him.

Pushing past the Gate Roll: 1D100 => 72+20= 92 vs 1D100 => 97 +40=137

Stefan could barely breathe as he tried to escape the fires. He just wanted to just sprawl out on the ground and let the sweet release of death take him.

He wanted to punch Prince Vasily in the face, for only he could have had the idea of lighting the entire steppe on fire, then kiss him for giving you the opportunity to escape.

Stefan had seen the banner on the other side of the camp, and he had to get to Vlad. He knew his brother would never abandon him. He always knew that. It took some time obviously, but he was coming.

But the smoke was too thick, and it was hard to breathe. He just had to keep moving forward. He just had to.

He had to. It was so hard to move.

(POV Change)

Vlad continued searching the camp, even as his eyes were starting to water, and his coughing was affecting his breathing.

It was like walking through hell itself, with emaciated damned souls reaching from below him to escape this place. Not unlike the battle he left.

He just had to keep moving. He had to find Stefan.

(POV Change)

Stefan saw the horseman walking towards him. He coughed and prayed to god it was Vlad. He wanted to see his brother again.

So he used the last of his strength to scream. "Vlad!"

In the Heart of Brothers: 1D100 => 93 vs 1D100 => 49

(POV Change)

Vlad heard the cry and saw the boy.

His body was gaunt, his arms and legs were skeletal. His skin was so charred as to be indistinguishable from the ash-stained clothes on his body. And then he noticed one of the sleeves abruptly ended above the elbow.

"Stefan!" He shouted.

Nothing else mattered now. He was going to get Stefan out of here, and no one was going to stop him.

Vlad Tepes' Forces Tactical Roll: 1D100 => 97+20= 117 vs 1D100 => 16-15=1

Vasily held his sword forward and did his best to ignore the chaos around him. It wasn't easy. Soldiers were all around them, fighting for their lives.

And yet, both sides parted around them both, notinterfering when they should by all rights prevent the two from fighting. The momentary respite allowed Vasily to get close and examine the battlefield.

He could see Vlad's cavalry charge into the Mongol lines, absolutely annihilating another large section of the Mongol army coming towards the fort. Another charge might break them.

"It's over." Vasily heard himself whispering, whether it was to himself or to the Khan he did not know. "You've lost."

"IT'S NOT OVER!" The man screamed, his voice seeming to crack in pain. His sword was drawn and like a mad beast, he charged at Vasily.

And then the battle began, swords clashed, steel sparked, and many would say the fate of the world was now in these two men's hands.

Let God Decide: 1D20 => 1+20= 21 vs 1D20 => 1+20=21

Their blades locked, and Vasily gritted his teeth as he tried to force his opponent back.

"You should see your face Aristov!" The Khan said. "You look like a tired woman."

Vasily growled and pushed the khan back. He was not going to indulge in this bastard's games.

The Khan did not seem to take Vasily's ignoring of his taunt to well. "Come On Prince! Are you a coward like your father!?"

Vasily continued to ignore him. He needed to find an opportunity to strike. But the Khan was some kind of wall that he could not break through or go around. So he needed to chip away at him, one strike at a time.

To Break a Wall: 1D20 => 8+20=28 vs 1D20 => 19+20=39

Wound Roll for Vasily: 1D20 => 13 vs 1D20 => 11

Vasily is Wounded.

Vasily rushed forward, using his speed to close the distance. His sword made contact with the Khan's, but as his opponent forced it to the side Vasily felt pain shoot up his left side. He had failed to notice the dagger until it was too late.

"Argh!" Vasily grunted in pain, before punching the Khan in the face.

Both men staggered back. Vasily took deep staggered breaths as he looked to his side. He took a deep breath and pulled the dagger out between his ribs, screaming in pain as he dropped it to the ground.

"Come on Prince!" The Khan goaded. "I was told you were the greatest warrior in Europe. And you're disappointing me! Fight for real!"

Vasily steadied himself, gripping his sword with both of his hands. He needed a plan, and he needed one now.

Scanning: 1D20 => 10+20=30 vs 1D20 => 6 +20 =26

And then he saw it.

The Khan was bleeding on his right side, an untreated wound, and his grip on his sword was loose. He could be unbalanced, and you could kill him. You just needed to focus on his right side.

Vasily rushed the Khan.

Attack the Weakness: 1D20 => 16+20=36 vs 1D20 => 8+20= 28

Khan Wound Roll:1D20 => 1 vs 1D20 => 20

Vasily's strikes were swift, efficient and completely ineffective.

The Khan was still a wall that could not be broken, each strike parried, blocked, or deflected.

It was frustrating and Vasily could feel how tired he was becoming from his wound and blood loss.

And then he saw his opening.

So did the Khan.

Battle of Wills: 1D20 => 15+20=35 vs 1D20 => 15+20=35

Vasily Wound Roll: 1D20 => 19 vs 1D20 => 11

Khan Wound roll 1D20 => 12 vs 1D20 => 1

Both blades found their mark.

Each blade went into the other's man's side.

"ARGRHR!" The Khan gurgled in pain. He clutched at the sword, but let got at the burning pain that erupted from his ribs.

"Ergh!" Vasily gurgled as foaming blood erupted from his mouth.

Vasily wheezed, trying his best to keep his eyes open, and remain standing. He did not want to die here.

Killing blow: 1D20 => 20 +20=40 vs 1D20 => 11+20=31

In his mind's eye, he could see everyone he loved standing beside him, trying to give him strength. Zima, holding his hand to keep it steady, The boys helped him by keeping his arm from falling down. His mother, smiling gently as she straightened his back.

And his father's voice echoed in his ears. "For the Motherland."

"ARGH!" Vasily screamed at the top of his lungs, pushing his own body further onto his enemy's sword to get a better grip on his sword, and pulled.

His sword jerked out from the Khan's body and Vasily wasted no time.

The deathblow was struck. The Khan's head was removed from his body.

And then there was silence.

Mongol Morale Decreased by 50.

Mongol Morale: 0/100

Enemy Shattered. The enemy is routing.

Vasily exhaled. "Kill them all." He whispered before he collapsed.

Would you like to Chase the routing enemies:

[x]Yes: It must be done.

A routing army is like a locust swarm. Except a locust swarm can't go on to be a cadre of veterans under a new khan in a couple of years.

edit: Also Vlad is technically still outnumbered out there.
