No that wasn't what I meant.

What I meant was that due to the way consensual reality works, anything that doesn't work by sphere magic rules can be comfortably sidelined as "hedge magic" just like nMages can comfortably sideline anything they don't get as "Lower Depths".

Hedge magic isn't an actual thing, it's more like a nebulous category of stuff that doesn't feel like sphere magic.

On a more related note, anybody ever consider converting any of the WoD games, Old or New, to the Big Eyes Small Mouth system?

No. Because that would be incredibly silly. BESM is not a great system and also doesn't cover any of the themes of oWoD or nWoD well enough that a conversion is justified unless you're playing some kind of incredibly cringeworthy campaign set in oWoD Asia, and if you are, I still don't think your anime inspirations are going to be the ones which BESM tries to emulate.

Even then, BESM is a terrible system for emulating anime. 3rd edition was this bizarre badly designed version of GURPS/HERO which completely fails to emulate any sort of anime I can think of up to and including the ones where characters are explicitly game character with game stats and the editions before that were just sort of handwavey bullshit that confused rules lite with thematically broad.

Using BESM to run an anime campaign is like using GURPS to run a game of Nobilis. Technically feasible but the game will be fighting you ever step of the way.

But what about the offical White Wolf Street Fighter RPG?

But what if you like BESM and hate WoD's themes of personal horror (but otherwise like a lot of elements of the WoD setting)? What do you do then?

Eh. Whedon lets his politics take over his art too much IMO. Especially his movies.

And no, never even played BESM

Agreed. Mainly I think Firefly and Angel were boring. I liked Buffy though.

Though the idea of portraying Joss Whedon as an easily trolled Seymour Skinner-esque alt-righter who lives with his mom is funny when you consider his real life political stances (he's a staunch liberal, I am liberal myself though.)

I like BESM myself, personally.

Oh, and here's some new sneak peeks at the upcoming chapters of The New Jersey Project.

The fanfic's overall Arc Words are this simple mantra...

Creedence Clearwater Revival Kick Ass!

I've played BBSW, which is based on BESM and is very similar. Both use the Tri-Stat system.

I could convert OVampire to BBSW, it might even work, but I don't think the setting is well suited to Tri-stat , nor is Tri-stat well suited to the setting.

White Wolf's official Street Fighter: The Storytelling Game is wonderful!

Street Fighter has the best combat rules of any White Wolf game, hands down, mainly because it was designed to emulate the arcade game it was based on, and hews closely to it. The end result is a combat system that is substantially more dynamic than anything else White Wolf has ever put out.

As a general rule, you should just port the Street Fighter rules if you ever have a desire to allow Martial Arts merits.

Also, World of Darkness vs Capcom is a totally playable crossover.

Play BESM, I guess. Though I would suggest you check out some other games first. It's not really going to work for WoD but if you have a few friends who like it too, more power to you.

Though if nobody wants to play your BESM game that steals aesthetics and nothing else fromm WoD... you might start questioning why that is.

Dude. Dino Crisis, Resident Evil, and Darkstalkers fit the World of Darkness perfectly.

They literally branded the Darkstalkers arcade cabinet with the World of Darkness logo.

Though, how would Werewolf interact with Resident Evil?

Umbrella and Pentex are basically the same company, anyway. Just replaces "viruses" with "banes" and everything works the same (and even makes more sense, seriously, have you seen what the T-Virus can do...)
