On the reserve army idea...that's...effectively what the Army of the Forest is already doing by regularly marching up and down the province keeping an eye on all the villages? If you actually formed a fourth army, it would require quite the pump-up of pay (in that you'd be paying them rather than maintaining their equipment deliveries and such) and equipment normalizing. They're militia troops, they're not going to simply rebel when Frederick dies, Magnus has regularly fought amongst all 3 armies of Ostland at one time or another, who themselves coordinate with various militia when nearby all the time. So does Frederick, but less so due to duties keeping him locked up more often. There's not that much cross-village communication anyway, at least amongst militia. The numbers are one thing, actual coordination and connection are entirely another. Plus, you're really going to need to give a convincing argument to somehow draw in militia 'elites' who don't want to serve in the Army of Ostland proper, go try to join the Bull Warriors, become a mercenary elsewhere, go on an adventure outside the province, etc. Like, the truly exceptional militia members, if/when they crop up, have several avenues available to them already to pursue. Plus, army numbers upkeep has already been established previously in the thread, with a variety of things (Shallyans, Jade Wizards, etc.) keeping up against chip damage per turn. A lot of militia people won't want to leave home as well unless absolutely ordered to, so that's an issue too.

Like, on the issue of loyalty...that's just the breaks in this universe. You simply cannot guarantee 100% loyalty for every single militia member to any one person or another. Plenty of them are in fact probably more immediately loyal to their local lord than the Elector Count who they'll most likely never see in their entire lives. But I can guarantee that they'll be a lot more loyal to Magnus than you apparently seem to think once Frederick finally kicks the bucket. Will it be the exact same levels to Frederick? No. But neither will things plunge into the depths of heresy and depravity the moment he ceases to be. Magnus is trusted, blooded, well-known, and popular amongst the province. I don't know what else I can say, honestly.

i mean as players, it's kind of our job to be paranoid for anything and everything
You never know what the evil mind of the DM has in stock for us poor victim XD

By CK2 norms its usually not a problem unless you had a super long lived and great leader then overextended everything on his personal prestige, leading to problems with a new ruler and unruly vassals.

But Magnus had hardly been twiddling his thumbs. Hes marched to war, sat on judgements.
People know him and he's been proven by fire and steel.

I guess that's true.

S just the nature of people to fret and worry it's gona be fine

I mean, I'm filled with all sorts of anxiety a lot of the time, so I get it.

As for the update...god I know it's been a chunk since the last one, but I'm really hoping to get it out tonight or tomorrow. I really don't know what's going on with myself lately. Just really melancholic and unmotivated, lots of writers block, ugh. I just wanna say I sincerely appreciate ya'll still coming back around again and again, despite it all.

I have finally caught up. It took me the better part of a month and a half, but it is done. Definitely one of the best quests I've read. I was gonna ask some questions, but I think I'll wait until the update is posted.

I can't help but imagine that in future in response to poor our cavalry capabilities we will end up making steampunk walkers. :p

Of course even if that is possible, in canon they made a mechanical horse, that would be so ridiculously down the road it's not even worth talking about. We are just better off making troops that can fight well in rough terrain.

In personal experience it is never a good idea to bug author and your updates tend to be worth the wait. So no biggie.

and we appreciate you, man. It was your quest that got me invested in the warhammer setting and im like 80% sure it was also what got me into the questing forum in the first place.

I wonder if we can get a Martial option to upgrade our Light Cavalry. They haven't really seen much in the way of help, and we did get a horse trade from Averland this turn.

If pistoleers aren't Mad Science-y enough, maybe we could equip them with Blastguns, or design something like the fire lance if we want to keep them melee-focused.

...no? QM is here to tell us a story, hes not the enemy.
it was a joke, you know ? I mean i don't think Torr has a big dungeon somewhere with a lots of minions and ominous lightning in the background with a shrine to the Dice gods right at the heart of it.
But hey maybe i'm wrong who know... ( insert dramatic music)

But joke aside, Torroar is one of my favorite writer ever, so trust me when i said i respect the man to hell and back
I mean for fuck sake i'm french and i wanted to understand everything about his story so much, that it made me work on my english ! And i hate working !

Reading the story, it feels like the weakest part of our army is our cavalry. Now that we did that action with the northern march can we start investing toward making a heavy cavalry corps?

Unless you're mass-buying horses, you can't just make Heavy Cavalry. That takes time, and breeding.

As far as I'm aware, we picked up breeding stock, but that means we still need to wait for them to make some kids.

Well we could make a version designed to deploy Doomspheres, that way we can perform flanking Doomsphere attacks.

...what if we made a larger Doomsphere with room for a driver inside?

Bonus if it's strong enough to fell trees.

IIRC Nuln already started exporting Pistoleers, so we might be at least passingly familiar with the concept IC.
