The Z Gamer

My joke the other day, about the potara earing and Ten and Chichi becoming tenchi was just a joke because of the name, it had no real meaning to it...love the chapter btw.

Well on the speculation of the originator...it could be the opposite. Some Outsider/Great Old One/ROB-equivalent screwing with Zeno.

Mostly because the only one that actually is a threat to an entire universe and not just a Galaxy or two is the genocidal god-baby itself. And while I could also see it granting the gamer power and threatening universal destruction (it's certainly done so for less before)...I don't see it maintaining attention on such for more then a few months.

Going on this route, it has a high chance of being the Grand Priest, with the results being a sort of reality show/cartoon for Zeno when he is bored.

I assume he means where it says on our watch things, that you responded with 10 words, and that his probably got cut off amusingly.

Maybe? Personally I was thinking more along the lines of Dishonor, but really just any sufficiently powerful entity not part of Zeno's little slice of reality and with a motivation to interfere.

To use some lines from a quest over on QQ;
"Cards on the table: You're a spiritual bioweapon tossed into the DBZ universe by an Outsider to destroy it from the inside out....
There may be one or two positive qualities to Beerus and Whis is a pretty cool guy, but both can witness the deaths of quintillions of sentients or even outright perpetuate said horrors and not even feel the slightest twinge within them no matter how innocent or pure said beings were. They are also implicitly approved of by Zen-O, along with many like them....
THE GODS ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS. NOT KING KAI, NOT KAMI, NOT CHRONOA, NOT KIBITO, NOT THE GRAND OR SUPREME KAIS, NOT KING YEMMA, NONE OF THEM....
Full deities prefer status-quo to literally any change, even positive, and this only ever changes if their own existence is threatened. Temporary deities or ascended deities-such as Kami or Goku-are exempt from this principle."

The general goal of the quest being to overthrow or otherwise surpass Zeno itself.

Obviously whatever the originator is here has a more active role then the above idea, but I figure theirs still a lot of room for variety in terms of picking what made the Gamer power-up and why (altruism, a grudge against Zeno, a plot to expand their own power, entertainment, etc.)

Edit: Just to satisfy my own lingering concerns about proper citation, here's the link to the quest mentioned above.
WARNING:
It is on the NSFW side of Questionable Questing (or QQ for short, same format to go with SB and SV) though, which means making an account there and being prepared for mature content at a minimum (not so much this quest in particular as the qm can't smut, but the questers and other content? Well...;) be prepared to stay a while or rapidly leave depending on how risque the contents are relative to you.)

Since I don't think it's been done already, @ZeroRewind could you threadmark the above link to your FFN page, or just straight to the story? Looking stuff up on FFN isn't too hard on a PC, but it's far from the same ease that the same can be done on forums like this (and just as far above AO3 with no ability to restrict anything and tags everywhere) and even worse on a phone for those mobile lurkers out there.

I... just thought of something. Puar said that Oolong dropped out of magic school before he could finish learning true transformation.

So that means there is LITERALLY a school where they teach actual magic in this world, and even seemingly no talent hacks like Oolong can get in.

Will we be seeing Ten pick up any directly magical abilities?

Actually that school only teaches transformation. Not other magic, and if he was going to learn magic hes heading to a 300+ year old magic user soon. While yes going to the Southern Transformation Kindergarten might teach him how to become a shapeshifter..why would he need it?

Depends on how this particular transformation works.

Personally I'd like to see it mainly because Sun Wukong did it and it's cool.

Um. Are you equating "quest" to "story"? that's the only way your comment makes sense.

Edit: On another note, this website's (QQ) color scheme is an eyesore among eyesores. How can you read this?

Plot really. Just the idea of not following along with the conventionals of the setting. Well, that and DBZ does have some genuinely messed up behavior and apathy on the part of the 'good guys'. As far as this story goes, it's just muse fodder.

As for the color scheme...you can change it. Same with SB and SV. I usually browse those on 'dark' and QQ on 'light', though I honestly don't remember what the defaults for any of them were.

Wow, when I was reading this I suddenly had something click in my brain. You wrote that one Sasuke-centric Naruto crossover, didn't you? Something felt familiar and it was that. It was hard because you were writing a younger perspective, but as you had him age I recognized it - it's eerily similar to how you wrote Sasuke. I remembered disliking the fic because it Sasuke's internal monologue felt OOC and various other characterization-related quibbles I had with the story, but in a SI fic like this where it doesn't matter, I'm finding myself enjoying it quite a lot. Good stuff.

He was quite in character, as far as I'm concerned. Internal monologues don't break character as long as they're reasonable.

Considering the situation, with how his plans were shattered and he had basically nothing to strive for— he had a mental break.

Sasuke's mental breaks have been quite varied, from completely giving into hate to becoming catatonic. It's not outside the realm of possibility to begin behaving differently after yet another world shattering event.

People who disliked "hit the ground running" have no true understanding of Sasuke. All they see is "broody emo duck butt", and when I portray the guy as being actually human, the people lose their shit.
