Sign Oath - Dire Summer (Strike the Blood) (Waitlist Only)

Are you looking for it to be drawn back to a particular figure, or just something vague so it can be narratively flexible?
Something a bit vague. Definitely within the realm of 'mundane humans can't keep up' and able to keep up with superhumans unless 'being really fast' is basically their whole deal. Other than that, I'm not really interested in trying to figure out an exact number.

This is mostly because 'speed' is kind of hilariously more versatile and useful in most contexts than durability or strength. In my mind its better to separate people into brackets where everyone sharing a bracket is roughly equivalent than to worry about different levels of superhuman speed and who is just faster than who and so on.

Makes sense.

Akua's always been crazy fast in her original setting, but it was never her main thing.

I'll make the modifications posthaste.

I have a question: since one of my character's greatest abilities is moving really fast, do I belong to the same brackets as "mundane humans can't keep up"?

Personally I would say that Sukuna isn't all that fast, but her being so small and what speed she has allows her to be pretty agile. Especially since her size makes her hard to hit and turns what is small holes in one's defenses for normal sized beings into massive targets for her.

Basically, there are roughly four tiers of speed in the paradigm I'm currently operating under (which may be subject to change).

Normal human.

Trained human, which is both more common and has a higher ceiling than real life.

Supernatural, where most people with enhanced speed will be.

And Specialized. Where people like Sonic or the Flash would be placed.

This is one part movement speed, one part agility/ability to do stuff fast. If for some reason a character can traverse quickly but isn't otherwise faster, then they may be placed into two categories (for example, a mech with rocket boosters might have a high top speed, but be quite lumbering while swinging its fists around).

The downside here is of course that some characters will be treated as 'the same speed' even if one is measurably faster. I'm currently willing to accept this just to lessen issues in the other direction, but it should be noted.

Well looking at that scaling I'd put Sukuna in the Supernatural section, primarily for her agility since she is so small it is hard to hit her in the first place and can fly freely. However my traverse speed would probably be Trained Human since I can only fly as fast as a bicycle.

Tamamo'd probably be high Trained, Casters in general being noticeably faster than they are strong/durable. Maria, though, would definitely be in the Supernatural area.

Munakata and Momoyo are both incredibly fast, but I think only the former can be called supernaturally fast since it's basically his thing despite being otherwise a well-trained human. That and an ability to somehow pull a rocket launcher out of his uniform, ignoring the laws of physics.

She wasn't that bad. Just extremely curious, honest. . .
Hey I know you know of SinoAlice. I changed to Snow White but I'm kinda unsure what to put for abilities. Due to the nature of the game is kinda difficult to figure out what there actual capabilities are. Got any ideas you can pitch me?

For now I just marked down that all her weapons are horrifically cursed and others touching them dosen't end well.

There are about two days left until I make my selection for characters, and the IC will go up sometime after that.

In two days, submissions will go on a waitlist for consideration if one of the active players drops out or their character dies. If you intend to make a sheet, do so before then.

Wizard_Marshall - Steven Starphase / Sion
Hey @Azrael. Here are my two submissions, with Steven being the primary.

Name: Steven Alain Starphase
Appearance:
Origin: Kekkai Sensen

Backstory:
Steven is a long time friend and associate of Klaus von Reinherz. They were together in New York when the Great Collapse happened and the world was turned upside down with reality ripped apart at the seams. As they travelled through the hellish scenery they came across a survivor, a fragile baby protected by its mother. They took it to a hospital where they met a hearty staff steadfast in the face of disaster. Klaus and he tried to defend the hospital from a Blood Breed despite knowing the best they could do was temporarily hold off their immortal enemy. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful, and their battle was interrupted by a cabal of human casters who sealed off the rift from the mortal world and Beyond. When Klaus and Steven came to their senses, they were in the middle of Hellsalem's Lot some time later.

Hellsalem's Lot had replaced New York City. Klaus and Steven quickly acclimated to this new city and all its strange inhabitants. They formed the organization known as Libra to safeguard the fragile peace in the city and protect the world from the strange catastrophic events that reached extinction levels.

Since then, the duo had gathered more allies and friends. They even had a chance to reunite with the staff of the mysterious hospital they encounter during the Great Collapse. This time, they were able to take care of their unfinished business and wash away their regrets from the incident.

Personality and Life Philosophy:
Steven is a seemingly laid back individual giving off the impression of a suave, sophisticated businessman. His expression can change when the situation is serious. He's more expressive than his good friend Klaus. While he has strong morals even in the face of death, he shows a more ruthless attitude when dealing with people that target him. He's even willing to employ questionable methods.

Abilities:
Esmeralda Blood Freeze - Steven has the ability to decrease his blood's temperature in order to freeze his targets. This allows him to create large swaths of frozen ice. Applications of his ability include salvos of frost lances, impenetrable barricades, arctic winds, etc. He can also use this ability more subtlety, injecting his enemies with minute blood darts and freezing their bodies hours later. Steven seems to prefer using his legs or kicking motions to administer his techniques.

Equipment:
Custom-tailored business suit. Gotta stay classy.
Shoes modified for his blood techniques.

Name: Sion Eltnam Atlasia
Appearance:
Origin: Melty Blood (Tsukihime series)

Backstory:
Sion is an alchemist of Atlas, highly recognized as a child prodigy that was granted the name Atlasia, a title reserved for those who will succeed the Director of Atlas. Despite her academic success, the Eltnams were fallen nobles who gave birth to the monstrous vampire known as TATARI and their Etherlite magecraft caused others to fear and shun them. Combined with her success, Sion was surrounded by the ill intent of enemies and those jealous of her.

Later, Sion accompanied a group of Executors on a vampire hunt. This cooperation was only possible due to the relationship between Atlas and the Church. During the mission, Riesbyfe Stridberg was able to break through Sion's guard and become her friend. Unfortunately, everyone but Sion was killed, and Sion was bitten by the vampire, TATARI.

After she was cursed with vampirism, Sion didn't return to Atlas and began scouring the world for a cure. This journey eventually lead her to Misaki City, where she hoped to acquire the assistance of True Ancestor Arcueid Brunestud. Sion had the fortune to become friends with Tohno Shiki who helped her defeat TATARI when he arrived in Misaki City. Thanks to TATARI's defeat, Sion was able to take control of her curse. When Sion returned to Atlas, she presented the TATARI system to their council in order to escape punishment for her actions.

Personality and Life Philosophy:
At first glance Sion appears to have a cold and calculating personality like an ideal Atlas alchemist, but she is actually a warm-hearted person who is capable of rare emotional outbursts. While her usual modus operandi is to be cautious and logical, her emotions can push her to take risks especially for her morals. Although she is socially awkward, she does not shun friendships; on the contrary, she is a rare affable type that can get along with most people if given a chance.

Abilities:
Atlas Alchemy: Normal alchemy studies the transformation matter, but Atlas alchemists place more emphasis on conversion of phenomena, that is studying, predicting, and aiming for the ideal outcome through simulation. At the end of the day, alchemy requires significant time, resources, and knowledge to produce results. Although many Atlas alchemists are unable to directly interfere with nature, they create magnificent tools to do it for them. This is not something that can be done in battle or even without proper facilities. An alchemist without tools is nothing, but if they have the resources there is little they cannot accomplish. Sion herself was able to craft the Philosopher's Stone in an alternate future, probably after years of work, a feat only the fabled Paracelsus could accomplish.

Memory Partition and Thought Acceleration: The main magecraft of Atlas that allows users to partition their thoughts and increase processing speed. Depending on the amount of information gathered, it is possible for the user to predict the future. Despite this "foresight" victory is not certain; Sion instead uses it to avoid the worst outcome. Just because you can predict a natural disaster like a hurricane or flood does not mean you can stop it, only weather the crisis. Although Sion has seven partitions, two are occupied by her friend Riesbyfe's data.

Superhuman Physical Abilities: Sion has superhuman strength, speed, endurance, regeneration, and senses thanks to her half-vampire nature. Among her senses, Sion's sense of smell is the strongest, and even in her half-vampire state, she can destroy concrete pillars. Sion is also capable of shapeshifting her body to a certain degree, like turning her hands into claws. However, due to Sion preventing her transformation into a vampire, her abilities fall short of completed vampires. In exchange, most vampire weaknesses such as sunlight and a thirst for blood are merely burdensome for her instead of crippling.

TATARI System: The research of her ancestor that allowed for the materialization of rumors and malignant information. Sion can use parts of this system on a limited scale such as Terror News and Replicant Conductor. Terror News allows her to materialize malignant information through magical energy causing nature interference like a whirlwind of curses. Replicant Conductor allows for her to materialize a phantom-like copy of an individual that possesses their abilities to a lesser extent.

Equipment:
Etherlite: An artificial nervous system made from magical energy and nano-scale microfilament wire that can extend up to five kilometers. By attaching itself to an individual, it can read and copy memories. It is even able to derive information from the environment by spinning in place. Etherlite's most fearsome ability is to manipulate an individual's thoughts and therefore their body once it has merged with their nerves, allowing the Etherlite user to puppet or destroy their target.

Normal individuals like baseline humans are unable to defend against it because Etherlite is invisible to the naked eye, but supernatural entities or those with augmented senses may be able to perceive it. Etherlite has little effect against powerful individuals with supernatural powers.

Other uses include lifting an individual's physical limitations of the nerves or muscles or being used as a physical tool: attacking, defending, restraining, anchoring, etc.

Barrel Replica: A copy of the Black Barrel Conceptual Weapon that imposes a "limited lifespan" on immortal creatures. It is an effective weapon against irregular entities such as zombies, ghosts, or phenomena that violate the natural order of life, but against normal individuals such as baseline humans it is merely a powerful gun.

Exterminatus - 9S
Name: Yorha No.9 Type S (9S)
Appearance:
Origin: NieR: Automata

Backstory:
He was activated in the early years of the 14th Machine War as part of the Yorha unit of the Army of Humanity. As a scanner model, 9S' job is to survey and conduct reconnaissance on the machine lifeforms so that the intelligence on them is as accurate and relevant as possible. He also participates in combat against the machines in support of fellow androids. But most of the time he's doing the former and often by his lonesome. His role also has the consequence of putting him in many circumstances where it is hard to upload his data to the Bunker.

As of 11945 he is operating in support of Yorha No.2 Type B. Working with the Resistance (and surprisingly, friendly machines) together, they would witness many things such as discovery that the aliens who invaded Earth are dead, the creation of machine lifeform units Adam and Eve, and the sudden appearance of the unit Grun. Because of recent injuries sustained while under captivity by Adam, 9S was recuperating in the Bunker when he learned that 2B is being engaged by a sudden swarm of machines in the abandoned factory and then a Goliath unit.

Personality and Life Philosophy:
Like all androids, 9S is programmed with the desire to defend humanity and like all scanner models he is extremely curious about the world. It is hard to keep him from investigating the unknown especially if it seems abnormal. When it comes to rules and regulations he is not exactly one who would follow them to the letter such that he has to be reminded by 2B to not show emotions. He is however surprisingly deceptive despite his earnesty and kindness towards others. Yet he is just as capable of being vengeful and bloodthirsty especially against machine lifeforms. It is surprising to others that he is able to hold back against some machine lifeforms such as Pascal's colony.

Abilities:
Yorha Android - When it comes to sustaining himself, he only needs water to stay active. He can consume food and liquids, although mackerel has a toxin which can kill an android. He is capable of performing self repairs and could even restore consciousness after heavy damage to his body. Like other Yorha units, he's decent at dodging single attacks although consecutive ones may hit him. He can also self destruct, although it's best done with the use of another black box.

When it comes to melee fighting, adequate is perhaps the best way to describe his expertise. Machine lifeforms are not exactly known for being the most expert fighters and as a scanner model he does not come with optimizations for fighting in melee beyond "slash or poke the machine with the sharp end." He does have a trick where he can throw the weapon and recall it to him though!

Hacking - If it's mechanical, has a wireless connection, and is in range and line of sight, then 9S can hack it. With it, he can disable, gain access, control, or even forcibly have the object the self destruct if such capability exists. Against hostile units, he needs to have a vulnerability to exploit it (a Pod unit can assist in discovering these vulnerabilities). If friendly units allow it, he can jump in to do things such as enhance aiming, disable IFF protocols, and even kill off a Logic Virus infecting the unit.

Pod Programs - These special abilities are activated by use of a Pod unit. Each Pod can only have one program available though it can be switched up with time. Using one will initiate a cooldown on further program use for that Pod and until said cooldown is completed, no program can be used at all. Additional Pod bodies can be added (up to two for a maximum of three Pod bodies in the case of Pod 152) to the Pod Program to be used. This improves the program's power but also increases its cooldown. 9S retains full mobility while charging up a Pod Program. Alternatively, he could fire off different programs with each Pod body but it does mean that the programs are uncharged and each body is on cooldown.
Laser - Fires a laser capable of penetrating even goliah-class tanks. Charged program: additional laser per pod.
Hammer - Drops a hammer in front of the user that deals massive area damage in a radius. Charged program: additional hammer per pod.
Bomb - Fires a series of explosives in a grenade-like arc. Charged program: additional pod launching explosives.
Wave - Fires off a expanding ring of energy. Deals heavy damage but can be jumped over. Charged program: energy ring deals more damage.
Spear - Summons spears in a geometric pattern that skewers enemies caught by the spears. Charged program: 2 additional lines of spears per pod.
P-Shield - Creates a barrier that blocks conventional melee attacks aimed at 9S and staggers their attackers for a limited duration. Charged program: increases duration of barrier.
M-Shield - Creates a barrier around 9S that blocks conventional ranged attacks for a limited duration. Charged program: increases duration of barrier
Repair - Emits a beam that will heal 9S. Charged program: more healing beams per pod and total healing done.
Slow - Drops a hemisphere that slows down time for enemies caught in it and has a very short duration. Charged program: increases both the area affected and duration it stays active.
Gravity - Drops a hemisphere that drags enemies into the center of the hemisphere and has a short duration. Charged program: increases the area affected and duration it stays active.
Scanner - Emits ultrasonic waves to scan for hidden items. Has a short range, does not affect program cooldown nor can it be charged.

Equipment:
Pod 152 - 9S' support robot, she assists him in combat and in many other functions ranging from mundane taskeeping to communications to recommendations. She is one intelligence spread among three bodies and can do some light conversation. All three bodies have different weapons and ammunition is functionally infinite.
  • Gun - Fires a stream of bullets at the enemy. Damage can easily add up but has low penetrating power.
  • Missile - Launches 10 explosive missiles that can individually go for one enemy each. It homes in on the target but can be dodged.
  • Laser - Fires a continuous beam that can penetrate through enemies but is limited in range.

Plug-In Chips
  • Auto-heal - Will gradually repair 9S to full, though it cannot replace lost limbs.
  • Auto-collect item: Pod 152 will vacuum up items of interest to 9S

Cruel Oath - 9S' sword that he uses on most operations.

Type-4O Lance - A spear used by Yorha, it can charge up after a few hits and use that energy to deal damage on the next hit.

Bladestar123 - Zapp Renfro
Name: Zapp Renfro
Appearance:
Origin: Blood Blockade Battlefront

Backstory: Like Aphrodite from a clam shell in the surf, Zapp rose from the pages of a crusty magazine someone tossed in a dirty pond, or so he has been told. Regardless, he stepped forth onto land and proceeded to constantly disappoint everyone he met. Being the scruffy orphan he was, none of this particularly bothered him, and he lived a simple, fulfilling life as a small criminal. He was later picked up as a child by the Blood Battle God, who raised him with a combination of verbal abuse, half of his secret blood technique, and unmitigated condescension. Zapp, after discovering that he was physically incapable of meeting his masters expectations due to being human, as opposed to the eldritch creature his master was, proceeded to run away. Drifting the world on a cloud of drugs and cigar smoke, eventually found his way to Hellsalem's Lot, where he proceeded to have his face beatne in and his organs robbed on several different occasions, only barely scraping out alive due to Klaus taking pity on him. In the process, he discovered that Klaus had a live bounty on his head, and decided to cash that in as soon as possible. He failed, and Klaus, amused and somewhat disappointed in him, beat him into shape. He eventually gave up running away (if not on the bounty, if only to make himself feel better about his strength in comparison to Klaus) and decided to devote himself wholeheartedly to being a degenerate scumbag that was occasionally drafted into being a babysitter for the organization, and offing things that threaten him or people he cares for.

Personality and Life Philosophy: A carefree and rather stupid man, he's happy so long as his present circumstances make him happy. Almost pathologically unable to look further than a few seconds to the future unless attempting to make someone else suffer for his amusement (or beat up his boss [and fail]), Zapp is a rather stupid man. Is seen as being the "shell of a good man", or rather the personification of what's left when a good man decides to pack up and take leave of residence. Short tempered, oversexed, hyper and juvenile, but cares for people he accepts as friends. Somewhat.

Abilities:
Big Dipper Blood Battle Style - Kagutsuchi
- A style that allows Zapp to manipulate his blood into the shape of blades or threads, which he can then ignite to burn his opponents alive.
Streetwise
- Zapp can, at a glance, tell what bit of trash on the ground can get him high, and what can't. Has no other applicable uses.

Equipment:
- Clothing (Optional)
- Lighter
- Pocket bacon
- Keys (Moped)
- Pistol and clips
- Straw doll with Klaus's face taped to it, and a nail through the chest
- Straw doll with Chain's face taped to it, and a nail through the chest
- "Good luck" Ofuda
- Ticket stubs
- Shiv
- Case of cigars
- Flask of Liquor (Full)
- Small bag of drugs
- Glucose candy
- Loose phone numbers
- Pen
- Hand Towel
- Stolen money
- Borrowed money
- Blackmail money
- Fence money
- IOU's (prewritten)
- Loose lint and various garbage
