Name: Sion Eltnam Atlasia
Appearance:
Origin: Melty Blood (Tsukihime series)
Backstory:
Sion is an alchemist of Atlas, highly recognized as a child prodigy that was granted the name Atlasia, a title reserved for those who will succeed the Director of Atlas. Despite her academic success, the Eltnams were fallen nobles who gave birth to the monstrous vampire known as TATARI and their Etherlite magecraft caused others to fear and shun them. Combined with her success, Sion was surrounded by the ill intent of enemies and those jealous of her.
Later, Sion accompanied a group of Executors on a vampire hunt. This cooperation was only possible due to the relationship between Atlas and the Church. During the mission, Riesbyfe Stridberg was able to break through Sion's guard and become her friend. Unfortunately, everyone but Sion was killed, and Sion was bitten by the vampire, TATARI.
After she was cursed with vampirism, Sion didn't return to Atlas and began scouring the world for a cure. This journey eventually lead her to Misaki City, where she hoped to acquire the assistance of True Ancestor Arcueid Brunestud. Sion had the fortune to become friends with Tohno Shiki who helped her defeat TATARI when he arrived in Misaki City. Thanks to TATARI's defeat, Sion was able to take control of her curse. When Sion returned to Atlas, she presented the TATARI system to their council in order to escape punishment for her actions.
Personality and Life Philosophy:
At first glance Sion appears to have a cold and calculating personality like an ideal Atlas alchemist, but she is actually a warm-hearted person who is capable of rare emotional outbursts. While her usual modus operandi is to be cautious and logical, her emotions can push her to take risks especially for her morals. Although she is socially awkward, she does not shun friendships; on the contrary, she is a rare affable type that can get along with most people if given a chance.
Abilities:
Atlas Alchemy: Normal alchemy studies the transformation matter, but Atlas alchemists place more emphasis on conversion of phenomena, that is studying, predicting, and aiming for the ideal outcome through simulation. At the end of the day, alchemy requires significant time, resources, and knowledge to produce results. Although many Atlas alchemists are unable to directly interfere with nature, they create magnificent tools to do it for them. This is not something that can be done in battle or even without proper facilities. An alchemist without tools is nothing, but if they have the resources there is little they cannot accomplish. Sion herself was able to craft the Philosopher's Stone in an alternate future, probably after years of work, a feat only the fabled Paracelsus could accomplish.
Memory Partition and Thought Acceleration: The main magecraft of Atlas that allows users to partition their thoughts and increase processing speed. Depending on the amount of information gathered, it is possible for the user to predict the future. Despite this "foresight" victory is not certain; Sion instead uses it to avoid the worst outcome. Just because you can predict a natural disaster like a hurricane or flood does not mean you can stop it, only weather the crisis. Although Sion has seven partitions, two are occupied by her friend Riesbyfe's data.
Superhuman Physical Abilities: Sion has superhuman strength, speed, endurance, regeneration, and senses thanks to her half-vampire nature. Among her senses, Sion's sense of smell is the strongest, and even in her half-vampire state, she can destroy concrete pillars. Sion is also capable of shapeshifting her body to a certain degree, like turning her hands into claws. However, due to Sion preventing her transformation into a vampire, her abilities fall short of completed vampires. In exchange, most vampire weaknesses such as sunlight and a thirst for blood are merely burdensome for her instead of crippling.
TATARI System: The research of her ancestor that allowed for the materialization of rumors and malignant information. Sion can use parts of this system on a limited scale such as Terror News and Replicant Conductor. Terror News allows her to materialize malignant information through magical energy causing nature interference like a whirlwind of curses. Replicant Conductor allows for her to materialize a phantom-like copy of an individual that possesses their abilities to a lesser extent.
Equipment:
Etherlite: An artificial nervous system made from magical energy and nano-scale microfilament wire that can extend up to five kilometers. By attaching itself to an individual, it can read and copy memories. It is even able to derive information from the environment by spinning in place. Etherlite's most fearsome ability is to manipulate an individual's thoughts and therefore their body once it has merged with their nerves, allowing the Etherlite user to puppet or destroy their target.
Normal individuals like baseline humans are unable to defend against it because Etherlite is invisible to the naked eye, but supernatural entities or those with augmented senses may be able to perceive it. Etherlite has little effect against powerful individuals with supernatural powers.
Other uses include lifting an individual's physical limitations of the nerves or muscles or being used as a physical tool: attacking, defending, restraining, anchoring, etc.
Barrel Replica: A copy of the Black Barrel Conceptual Weapon that imposes a "limited lifespan" on immortal creatures. It is an effective weapon against irregular entities such as zombies, ghosts, or phenomena that violate the natural order of life, but against normal individuals such as baseline humans it is merely a powerful gun.
