Shepard Quest Mk V, Base of Operations (ME/MCU)

*Sniff* Do you smell that? It is the smell of a thread going some pages over 100, and no mods arriving to force a second thread. ^.^
You know, we don't have to hire him now. Just tell him we'll contact him later. Meanwhile you could simply have your HR department and security vet the guy. Or even have the Alliance military do it as a favour.

And then we'll decide whether to hire him or not.

Besides, he's not the only political analyst in Alliance space, nor do I think that he's the best. Soeven if we don't hire him, the possibility of getting a political analyst is still there.

Given what he's said, if it is true, our employees could be pressured into not giving a favorable report. So we might want to do it ourselves, somewhat.

[X] Write-in: Do a background check. A few minutes with an omni-tool is not a comprehensive search. Get your security chief, Goto, to dig up more info, particularly whatever it was that got him fired time and again. Forewarned is forearmed. Try to get it done before you land on Earth, but if that is not possible, arrange to keep in contact with him, promising nothing, but you've got the entire time you're on Earth to make the decision.
-[X] Crappy ship or not those things cost big money, no one writes one off like that. Something stinks. See if it's possible to link to the computers remotely and strip them bare. Try and recover deleted files too.
-[X] Ask if the captain to take it under toe it anyway as a 'good will gesture' without telling Laurence. During the trip have a couple of your security search it top to bottom, especially the cargo to see if it's legit. If he was writing that off as well.....

We don't really need to worry about industrial espionage from him that much if we give him the job because his work is easily done as remote job from some planet far away.

The problem is in what his job actually is - giving us advice. If he is a plant, that advice will be suspect, regardless of where he is physically.

Political analyst? Totally a Cerberus plant to make sure we have the "right" view of current events.

No need to tow it, really.

-[X] Have the security team keep a close eye on the Tigers. This could be a sabotage attempt.

Seems like a reasonable thing to do.

Changed the last add in there.

Undoubtedly a Cerberus plant. After all they would almost certainly know the exact flight plan we're on given that we're riding on one of their ships.

Given that Laurence Freeman is famous/important enough to earn his own Wikipedia page I'm guessing that's not our plants actual name.

Do we know what color TIM's eyes were before they turned glowing blue? Because 'Laurence' sounds like TIM and the "Steel Grey Eyes" reminds me of his "Steel Blue Eyes".

I can actually see TIM taking the risk and trying to personally insert himself into PI since it's pretty clear we are going to be humanities' shineing beacon and best hope for a brighter tomorrow. That and been our political adviser is a powerful enough position he might not trust someone else to do it.

Even in the worst case and he fails to infiltrate he still gets a chance to meet Rebecca Shepard up close and personal in a manner to catches her off guard and gives him a better reading of her.

Stroth made a good point, can people also add

to their votes.

That was actually my first thought when I saw the mention of his eyes... but maybe I'm imagining things.

Anyone notice how proactive Cortana was there? No waiting to be asked to research or help research and not even waiting to display the results.

I almost want to do the CASIE Implant just so that we can give Cortana the database to access.

I want to make so many improvements to Cortana that she just wakes up self aware by accident. If she hasn't already.
