SayakaQuest Thread 10: Glory To The Death

She's pretty much invulnerable to mundane strikes, but anything slightly less direct or more magic-based is going to ruin her day, and she's pretty much done for if they're ruthless enough to go for the gem and ignore her actual body.
I got the impression that the only reason Emiko could hurt was due to her anti magic trident and Akane could hurt her because AKANE SMASH. We haven't actually seen the effets of magic on her especially because we've never actually seen her fight.

[x] "On our way."
- [x] "Where are you?"

If it's bad enough to call, it's bad enough we don't need to ask.

We knocked a tooth out.

I tend to think of Sukuyo's powers as Damage Reduction in the D&D sense. Like if a normal meguca is 5/-, in that she ignores the first 5 points of damage from all sources of damage, then Sukuyo's 20/Anti-Magic. Where in she ignores the first 20 points of damage unless taking anti-magic strikes which bypasses her DR. The numbers are of course pulled out of my ass and mean nothing other than "Sukuyo ignores more damage than your average MG"

We clubbed Sukuyo across the face with a big ass sword and only knocked out a tooth. Had we done that to a regular human we probably would've broken their neck, against a regular meguca and we probably would've shattered her jaw.

As for Akane...well, she can pulp people at full strength. That's more than enough power to hit right through Sukuyo's invulnerability.

This of course runs into the problem of strikes that do break through Sukuyo's DR tend to leave her a crying mess because she simply can't build up the pain tolerence needed to shrug off hits that are strong enough to break through her high DR. If you can't tear off her arm easily, she'll never get used to the pain like Sayaka has.

[x] Go. Now.

You stand up straight. 'How bad?'

'T-Tomo's f-f-face is...h-her face is...oh god!'

'I'm on my way. Where are you?'

'D-downtown! B-by the bank!'

You look at Kyouko once and immediately, she nods. "Let's go."

You both start to rush, and in just a few minutes, you both land to see Akane staring at both Tomo and Yoko. You grimace at the sight...the injuries are nasty. "...Oh god...what kind of witch did you guys run into?"

"One that was just too much." Akane says. "...Yoko's in immense pain and Tomo's unconscious."

[OPTION SELECT]

[] Go in.

[] Heal.

[] Ask what happened.

[x] Heal.
-I think we should heal Yoko first. I think she's even worse off than Tomo.
[x] Ask what happened.
- Ask Akane to tell us anything she can about this witch.

See, it's exactly this sort of situation that kills newbies. Both Tomo and Yoko don't have the ability to hunt like this, they sure as hell don't have the seed stockpile to heal from their injuries, and they sure as fuck can't just go home looking like this. If this were anyone else, they'd have no choice but to witch out after this sort of injury/disaster of a hunt.

... All of which just proves how broken healing powers are, since we can get both Tomo and Yoko back on their feet, phsycially mind you, in mere seconds. Mentally, well, this is gonna affect everyone involved, even Akane, to some extent. But then no one ever said being a Meguca was easy, in fact I'm fairly sure we told them the opposite. I mean even Sayaka and Kyouko have nightmares every night, and they're both harden MG's.

This is the sort of ludicrous danger that makes me wonder how any magical girls could possibly last long enough that having territory is a well known concept. It seems it'd be rather easy to have to defend territory when our opposition could easily just pop into a random barrier and not come out.

Why does anyone bother trying to defend territory when they could just shadow the intruding magical girl, wait until she gets into a barrier, and if she beats the witch and is wounded, great, ambush time. If she beats the witch flawlessly, best not to fuck with her right now, because she has to be badass to do that?

Teams of MG's or MG's with Sukuyo level broken abilities. Newbie MG's only survive because of lucky powersets, team ups, or the sheer luck to not run into fuck strong witches. Once the newbies get enough experience they start getting badass, like Sayaka has, but until then they're all riding the knife's edge of survival.

So that two year average is more 50% die in a month, but the top 25% last 5 years instead of a steady deathrate?

So is Mitakihara just a shithole or are unexplained disappearances of 10-16 year old girls normal? Because I have no idea how any magical girl could last past a few fights if just one witch can fuck us up like that.

How was Kyouko even going solo? Jesus christ.
