SayakaQuest Thread 10: Glory To The Death

There is no good reason to do this. It's retarded. You're asking Kyouko to basically watch us hurt ourselves with the only assurance that we'd probably bounce back from it without too much trouble.

This is a really really stupid.
...Wait, your argument is that handing Kyouko the soul gem because of said risk somehow makes her watch us hurt ourselves more than armoring it up would?

:jackiechan:

I'm not terribly attached to that part, just think it really is harmless and has no real effect, but...what?

We can either work with explosives with the thing that kills us instantly if broken in hand, or we can work with explosives without our Soulgem in hand and be guaranteed to survive any injuries.

actually, maybe we should hold off on the swordbomb tests entirely until the current wound is a little less raw for kyouko. FIghting with the gem a few feet away is something to test, though. Dangerous but useful against witches, especially those with precision attacks that could only really hurt the gem, like single stray wires, and would really creep out enemy mgs, especially if we could somehow put on a decoy (OH GOD I broke the gem and she didn't even slow down!).

Do you guys really think Moid is going to gib Sayaka in a training session?
oh hai Artorias what are you doing here

Hora Hora~

Uh, if you remember, we decided to detonate that bomb within hearing range of a boss. It wasn't the bomb that gibbed us, it was Artorias. I mean, aren't you the one GMing that game?

Yes.

It was a joke.

Also, the point was that I killed you in a training session because the players did something dumb, not that it was specifically Artorias that killed Kyoko.

I think one of the best points Mura made, and I think this needs to be stressed, is that if we give Kyouko our soul gem, she will just be standing there. She sure as hell won't start sparring with her girlfriend's soul in her hand. She'll basically have no benefit from the training time, regardless of how much safer it'd be yadda yadda.

First, she'd be in the middle of training Sukuyo. Not holding our soul gem. By the way. That part of your vote is still fucked up.

Second, we're giving her our soul gem on the prediction that we're probably going to hurt ourselves. Of course she's going to watch. It's worse since we pretty much told her we weren't going to go and hurt ourselves intentionally and even worse since we have means to mitigate the damage even though it's a bit pricey on corruption.

Please stop traumatizing the Koko. kthxbai.

...The whole idea's to stop another ride on the "Oh no Sayaka's going to hurt herself, MORE KYOUKO TRAUMA" train, get a show of trust in there, and get something in there to make it slightly different from Training Session #345667. I'm surprised you think the intention's for Sayaka to actually blow herself up avoidably regardless of whether the soul gem's armored or Kyouko's hanging onto it while training Sukuyo.

Also, Sukuyo. Kyouko. I'm pretty sure Kyouko wouldn't have an issue hanging onto the soul gem while training a newbie, no matter how precocious. This argument's really just giving [shadowruns] vibes.

Honestly, I'm not attached enough to the vote to make an issue of it since it really was just fluff for variety, just arguing for arguing's sake really. Vote changed, I guess? Yay?

...

:wtf:

I honestly can't believe what you just typed here.

Really, this is probably the best solution. Pins aren't big enough to do any real damage.

Kind of ashamed that it took to long for someone to figure this out.
Eh. I guess its good for avoiding upsetting the Koko.

...Yeah, we seem to have very different views of what "training" entails, the ease of hanging onto said soul gem, and Kyouko's overall competence relative to said newbies. Is it at all likely Sukuyo could get the better of Kyouko enough to accidentally damage the gem in training?

I don't care how competent you are. That doesn't change the fact that that's really fucking stupid and Sayaka deserves to get yelled at if a vote like that got through.

Handing Kyouko our soul gem, which is Sayaka mind you, in a training session amounts to Sayaka screaming "I'm about to do something stupidly dangerous that has a high chance of maiming/injury, but as long as my Soul Gem is fine I can heal it." At least from Kyouko's Point of View. This is largely because of Sayaka's total disregard for her actual physical body/injuries she's taken in the past. I mean when you get crushed flat and shrug it off with "I can heal", putting aside the ONE thing that can actually lead to death in a training session isn't sending the best of messages.

Couple that with the co-dependency issues the Kyo/Saya couple have, and I highly doubt that Kyouko would be willing to do something dangerous, such as sparing with a newbie who's still capeable of sniping soul gems even on accident, while not having a "safe" place to put Sayaka's soul gem on her person. I mean maybe if Sukuyo wasn't a gun user or something, and if Kyouko had a really secure pocket or something...

All that said, this was really just another example of the tradtional nitpicking of votes that happens in SQ, though sometimes this happens in the rolz chat and thus doesn't clog the thread like this. It's also tradtional to take 2 shots everytime something like this happens, so drink up!

~Edit~

"Hey, Y'all! My name is Miki Sayaka and Y'all should watch this!" *Insert Jackass Theme song here* - What Kyouko sees/thinks when we hand her our Soul Gem during training.

Target practice? Kyouko stands behind Suyuko and controls her chain spears while Suyuko tries to hit the spearheads?

Do sukuyo's guns work like real guns or mami-muskets?(ie, are the rounds slow enough to be visible)

Maybe in a non training related thing I'd be okay with that but definitely not this.
It'd be best to save giving Kyoko our soul gem for the next time she starts thinking that she's a terrible person and Sayaka shouldn't love her. "I can literally trust you with my soul" would send a pretty powerful message there, I think.

On a scale of one to dead, Oriko is a corpse.

She's so dead, compared to her it looks like Disco might make a comeback.

Also:

I have to admit, I have a slight morbid curiosity for as to how knocked off Oriko. Was it just a simple time stop then Bullet to the head? Poisoned tea? Faked suicide? Just filling her with lead and dumping her body with the Yakuza she steals from, to let them deal with it?

...I need to stop marathoning those damned murder mystery shows on Netflix...
