SayakaQuest Thread 10: Glory To The Death

I wonder if there's one cop whos daughter is a potential, and thus immune to the coverup. The shards of gem he found around the crime are suddenly candy, the copious amounts of blood and dismembered arms melt away when you turn your back on them, and no-one else sees anything wrong. It would probably slowly drive him insane, destroying his career and life. Eventually ending in:
"I wish my father knew the answer to all those mysteries!"

Ok guys. I think I have the trick figured out. Earlier I think someone suggested using exploding rapiers. What we can do is use the long-neglected pistol hilts with stabby rapier blades for maximum thrusting capability. Once we stab the target, we release the blade with the firing trigger, conjure a new one in the same hilt, and resume the stabbing. Rinse and repeat until the target's a pincushion, get some distance, and detonate all the blades at once. No diet Mumi since we're still in melee, just breaking off our blades like porcupine quills. Bonus points if we conjure barbed blades like porcupine quills.

To elaborate, aiming hilts are normal hilts shaped to be easier to aim with. They don't actually offer any more ranged features than a normal hilt, and they would not be fun to stab with.

This.

We can use the strategy better with the normal hilt.

Also thanks for explaining the strategy I was trying to advocate better than me NSM (no sarcasm). I've been really off with my vocabulary lately...

I figured that's where you were going with it. As for the aiming hilts I was under the impression that they resembled Spanish fencing grips, which are shaped like a pistol and actually improve thrusting power.

Wikipedia said:
The pistol grip (otherwise known as the anatomical or orthopedic grip) was originally developed for a nineteenth-century Italian aristocrat, L.Visconti, master of fencing, who lived in Belgium and had lost fingers in a tram accident.[citation needed] It contours entirely to one's hand and is held much like a pistol, hence the name. This grip has become popular among sports fencers in the late twentieth century because of the way it enhances a fencer's lateral strength for the parry (block), complements the agility and athleticism of competitors, though, critics allege, at the cost of blade sensitivity finesse. There are several types of pistol grips, such as the basic Visconti, the German, and the Russian (any of which are what most people refer to as a pistol grip), and the American, all providing a somewhat firmer hold for the user of the weapon. The subtle variations in the pistol grip may correspond loosely to different fencing styles.

In high-level fencing, pistol grips are universally preferred in foil, and are used by a large percentage of épée fencers because they allow stronger blade movements. A substantial number of épéeists at all levels use French grips while posting (holding the grip near the pommel instead of the guard) because of the longer reach. Posting is almost unheard of in foil, as it decreases one's ability to parry successfully, and thus increases an opponent's chance of a successful hit or remise.

...Huh, its true.

"Well, that's a thing." You turn to see Sukuyo panting, with two guns up, and a spear right at her neck.

"Decent." Kyouko says. "Not bad for someone who just started a few days ago!"

"T-thank you." She clears her throat.

"Hey." You walk over. "What're you two up to?"

"Stuff." Kyouko says. "Sukuyo's using more than pistols now."

She stomped her foot and brought up a submachine gun. "See?" She aimed at a nearby booth and promptly shot it to pieces. "It's useful!"

[x] Help train Sukuyo. See if there's anything you know that she can use.

"Heh." You grin. "Alright, so...uh...let's see..."

You're gonna need to think about that.

[OPTION SELECT]

[] Write-in a training method.

[] Spar.

[] Stop training.

Added some more to the detonation. You can now use pistolhilts in combat, for more than just, you know, shooting. Unfortunately, you can't handle a full blade when using it in melee; just the pin.

Explain that to PQ!Hitomi...
They're clearly just very good friends. :p

[x]Shoot the moving target. We and Kyouko take turns throwing random junk while she uses training shots to try and hit them. Mix things up a little once she's settled into a routine by starting sparring.

Something to try: Changing types of ammo. Sayaka's seen Mami entangling opponents with shots, so it's not at all unfeasible for her to teach it to Sukuyo.

[X] Experiment with different ammo types. Get Creative.

I think Sukuyo could use a hidden ace more than she needs basic stat increases right now.

Just to be clear, that's as in we stab them until they look like a pin curshin then detonate them right?
I think all we got so far was the pistol grip technique. We might actually have to vote to spend time on perfecting the pincushion maneuver.

Then, if there's time,

[] Create one hilt (regular or pistol) and see if you can detach a blade into a target once you've stabbed it.
-[] Leave the blade there, conjure a new one in the same hilt and stab again, repeating.
-[] Pull the detonation trigger when target is full of blades.

Didn't put x's in because I don't know if the write in is clear enough.

Eh, that seems more like a "improvise in combat" maneuver than one we want to train up here and now, plus it's situational and hard to train without a target/victim. :p

Guess we'll trying armoring Sukuyo another day...
