SayakaQuest Thread 10: Glory To The Death

We already have remote detonation. Our swords have always exploded when we tell them to.
We do not have remote detonation.

We have to fiddle with the handle a bit to make it blow up, though I forget if it was the button or the trigger that did that. In other words, to make a sword blow up, we need to be at point blank range.

This is a problem for multiple reasons.

The only exception is explosive swords being shot, which detonate on impact and also suffer the -10 Mumi penalty.

Goooooood morning, I'm slightly tired, didn't sleep particularly well last night. I'll be making your post in just a mome-

Then stop breaking your own rules damnit. I had a compatible vote, with enough likes (even with Ugo disavowing his) and it got completely ignored.

...Oh, we are going to have a fun time, aren't we?

You're butthurt about your vote being ignored. From several days ago. Yeah okay.

First off, for fuck's sake man, get over yourself.

Secondly, I was interpreting this as a joke vote.

[x] Talk to the plushie about how she shouldn't be so down on herself all the time. She's a good person, who tries their best.

I mean, christ almighty, it's funny to read considering what else I run but it doesn't really make sense in context.

Ergo, I have it as a joke vote.

Of course, people weren't voting for your thing in earnest (as several of them have stated), and it would have looked awfully strange for Sayaka to do that in the middle of a scene that was rapidly going into a grim and serious direction.

Ergo, fuckmothering joke vote.

Fucking christ. Writing the goddamn post.

False. Pulling the trigger works after the sword's been launched. That's how we've detonated detached whipswords.

This is what you voted for during our second Tokyo 6 fight:
Ugolino said:
[x] Use half used seed. Toss empty spare to murderface, kyouko and...Akane?
[x]Dissonance.
[x]Use one sword-whip at Frills. We're bringing her down.
-[x] If SwordWhip connects and entagles Frills? Detonate that bitch.
--[x] If clubitch attempts to rescue Frills, Whip her with other sword.
[x]Use our other whip-sword to rappel to another building and get a better angle on her if we can.
We can choose to detonate detached blades.

...Oh, we are going to have a fun time, aren't we?

I hold no illusions that there is any possibility of the vote happening now.

It wasn't a joke vote, it was an attempt to defuse the grimness. You could tell it was a serious vote because I said outright that it was.

Also, I hope you get a better sleep tonight. Having a bad night's sleep is never fun.

What is that.

I googled that term and the closest I got was some character from Worm. who transforms into a wolf made of swirling metal blades. Not sure how that applies.
It was a rather cracky idea that I came up with while talking to Ugo(?) about armoring either us or Akane up in armor that would be spikey as fuck, and tossing/boosting into/through a witch while spinning. Kindof like a drill. It is rather stupid in that
1.) It probably wouldn't work.
2.) It would cost a lot of magic
3.) If we don't kill the witch with it, we find ourselves BADLY out of position and weighted down rather heavily.

And you can tell its likes weren't votes because it got over twenty of them. That's what a good joke gets, not a good vote. Also, the only people to specify what their likes were said outright that they didn't want it to happen.

In-universe, it would not have defused the grimness, partially because there was not yet more than the usual amount of grimness at that point. It would've just been weird.

You don't get to have a vote implemented just because you put an x before a joke.

I was going to make a whole rant, but no. I don't want moid to start giving out negative modifiers. I'll just that you are advocating an extremely arbitrary way of discounting actual votes, and say no more on the topic.

I won't hand out negative modifiers just because of you.

That said, you're still being really stupid. Your vote wasn't counted, its exclusion had no impact, and its inclusion would have had minimal impact.

For fuck's sake, Aranfan. You're being extremely petty about this.

That which is excluded has no impact, yes, that's fairly definitional. As to the minimal impact? Sure, but that impact, however minimal, was due by the rules you had set up.

I like this quest, it's fun, it's one of the things that matters to me. I want to have an impact, however minimal, on it's direction. So I posted a thing I wanted to do, enough people liked it that I thought I would have that impact. Then, nope, excluded because it was arbitrarily considered a joke vote even though it had an x and I said that it wasn't such.

SB/SV is pretty much my entire social life at the moment. I don't have anything else but the quests I participate in and the stories I read.

No.

Fucking...no.

Don't pretend this is about the rules.

That's not it. It's because you were slighted. And in a very minor way, too. Why, if I were to do this with someone else's vote, you probably wouldn't have even batted an eye. But no, it's your vote. And it's your joke that was taken out. And it's you who's getting all butthurt about this nonsense.

You know there is a point where I put voters on "ignore". I don't like doing it, because even dumb voters can have a point sometimes.

But here? Your behavior is making me consider it. Shape up, or you don't get to participate. It's as simple as that.

Then maybe you shouldn't make an ass of yourself to the point where the rest of the thread would rather you didn't participate.

You know, I am really starting to appreciate Moid more and more now.

He's giving us great quests despite having to deal with petty-ness and downright idiocy and not go ragequit at us.

So, thanks Moid for all the hard work you have done in your quests. I am pretty sure the others are just as appreciative.

Moving swiftly onwards...
Moid, can we actually manually detonate a regular melee sword without being in the blast radius or is that a valid thing for training/testing?

Thanks for the answer- sword training is going to be a thing

Yes, you can.

You'll need to fix up and master the timing in order to make it truly worthwhile, though. There's a slight delay between the time you press the button and the time the sword explodes. Master that and you get bonuses to explosive swordplay.

Also, there is a way to cleverly take advantage of the explosions. You just need to figure that out on your own, though.

We use one of our pins to shoot at the trigger of the sword and detonate it?

I am not even sure that works, truth be told.

He might have been meaning using the explosions as a sort of directional boost during mid air maneuvers, since we can fly now.

Hmm, in that case Astana can deploy an explosive sword first then shoot one of her pins at the trigger at the right time to explode said sword and give us a boost.

This probably need some refinement and streamlining though. Can see many things going wrong in combat.

You wouldn't need those acrobatics and trick shots. Just extend the sword and point in direction opposite of where you want to go.

Edit: The trick would be keeping the explosion close enough to get the boost, but not close enough that it makes Kyoko cry.
