SayakaQuest Thread 10: Glory To The Death

"...I really need to talk to Madoka, Hitomi and Kyousuke about this soon." You say. "You could help me get them out of harm's way."

"I...yes." She says. "O-Okay."

"And besides." You smile. "...I couldn't ask for a better mom. Ever." You give her a tight hug. "It...I love you, mom...even when I do something stupid and even when I make you cry, you just give me love and support..."

"It's what I'm here for." She says as she wipes her eyes again. "...I love you too, Sayaka."

"I'm not going to die on you. Not on Kyouko, not on anyone." You lean your head against her. "...I won't let it happen."

"I hope so." She breaths out as she hugs you back. "...I really hope so."

Eventually, you break off the hug. Your mom looks better than before, if still somewhat saddened. You really wouldn't expect much better right now.

[x] Go train. Maybe somewhere that's not the junkyard this time? Suggestions would be great.

"...I should train." You say. "Gotta make good on that promise!" You smile.

Your mom smiles back thinly. "Okay, Sayaka." She watches you stand up with Kyouko still holding onto your hand.

"Bye, mom!" You grin, before you both head out. "Come on, Akane."

Akane nods, while Kyouko looks at you. "...So, where should we go?" She asks.

"Somewhere other than the dump."

"The forest near the city?" Akane suggests. Kyouko shakes her head. That forest is way too close to her former church for comfort.

"Oh!" You blink. "There's an abandoned theme park!"

"...Okay." Akane shrugs, while Kyouko leans against you.

"Sounds good to me." She says.

"So, how're you now?" You ask.

"Much better." She says. "...Probably because of the ducklings."

"Ducklings?" You blink.

"Yes." She says. "Tomo and Yoko. It's amazingly fun to watch over them." She smiles.

"Anything noteworthy happen yesterday?"

"Tomo is getting more efficient. I had her do most of the work during a hunt, while Yoko and I just stood on the sidelines. She manged to get a seed easily against that particular witch."

Kyouko nods. "Huh. Fast learner."

"She's amazingly quick to pick things up when she's not being hot blooded." Akane says.

"And Yoko?"

"Yoko is still learning. She's much shyer and harder to train than Tomo, but I should be able to work wonders." She crosses her arms. "Speaking of, could you bring them over again?"

"Gladly." You say.

"Oh, and since you contracted with the Tokyo incubator..." You start. "We need to get you a phone."

"...Hm." Akane nods. "That...would probably be for the best."

Sukuyo is a gun fighter. She'd probably benefit from Homura's instruction, and get inspiration from Homura's arsenal.

Unless Sukuyo commits to Walpurgis, I have a hard time believing Homura's going to sacrifice any quality Madoka time for her.

We can't very well claim that we won't hold non-participation against them if we're going to assume that Sukuyo only gets gun training if she agrees to fight. The act of asking is important regardless of the answer.

Homura isn't going to enable someone that can act against you just as much as she can side with you. There's no guaranteed benefit and there are risks. Also the loss of Madoka time. Homura will turn it down. Also you're assuming Sukuyo can't observe the other meguca and develop this stuff on her own or that Sayaka and the others can't help with her gunplay.
 
We don't know Sukuyo that well. She hasn't gone on the hunting trips and bonded with Akane like the other newbies have. As far as Homura is concerned, she probably considers Christmas Tree's loyalties unclear.

Obviously Homura's not going to train her with that kind of question mark over Sukuyo's head.
 
While I think it's fairly clear that Sukuyo will, within reason, do what Sayaka tells her, be it through fear from the inital befriending or gratitude from the Emiko Fiasco, I'm unsure of if Sukuyo will help everyone with Walmart Night or not.

While Sukuyo, and all local girls, should generally have something to protect in the city and thus automatic stakes in the fight, the question is if their stakes are high enough and if they feel they can contribute to the fight versus the obvious risk of death. Hell, Akane had to think about it and she's far more badass than any of the newbies AND owed Sayaka far more as well.

Given that Sukuyo's not yet confirmed to be an, in Homura's opinion arguable, asset against walmart night, and Homura's distrust of ANY new MG's, I highly doubt that Homu would sacrifice Madoka time to train her. Therefore to me, the answer of asking Homura to train Sukuyo is a resounding no, and really shouldn't be asked at all.
 
Sayaka's only priority is not Walurgisnacht, though. She wants these girls to succeed regardless of if they help or not. Her trying to get the best training for them is in-character. If Homura's not going to go along with it then Homura can be the one to say so.

Are you really voting for Sayaka to get lectured on how stupidly naive that is? Your vote is for something that Homura is guaranteed not to go along with at the moment. You're wasting your breath. Really, it's not as if Sayaka and co. are incapable of helping Sukuyo even if Homura isn't around.

'Yo.' You ping them. 'We're gonna go train by the abandoned amusement park at the edge of town. You're welcome to come over.'

'Gladly.' Sukuyo says.

'Alright.' Tomo says.

'Okay.' Yoko sounds sheepish, before she's gone.

You lean against Kyouko as you both walk, and after a few minutes you reach it.

The place is decrepit, with rotting wood platforms, rusty rides and ruined clown heads. You can see the remains of a roller coaster in the distance, with some of the rails having been so badly decayed that they've simply fallen to the ground. There's a destroyed merry-go-round, with some of the animals either being decapitated, defaced, or had swastikas and "Fags should die" written on them.

You walk by a clown head, which is laying next to the rest of a giant clown sculpture. Both are covered in an enormous amount of rust, the head almost seems to have rotted with time.

"...This place is creepy." Kyouko mutters.

"...Worse than a barrier?"

"Not really."
