SayakaQuest Thread 10: Glory To The Death

Another random idea: go backstage. I'm not convinced that attacking anything we've seen will help, since the doll and hands are not crucial, attacking the audience looks like a death flag, and attacking the gear seems to be an exercise in futility. So we need to look for more stuff. Maybe underneath the ground after the doll's hit it or inside the doll?

Edit:
[q] Look for a curtain
"Pay no attention to the witch behind the curtain!"
[q] Open curtain
You find a small witch behind a control console.
[q] Stab it in the face
You win!
[q] Apply palm to face

This thematic analysis is cool and all, but let's not forget planning in the short term, our next 1 or 2 steps. And given just how much of a threat the doll is, I think taking it out or at least severely weakening it is going to have to be our next step. It doesn't matter if the doll is really the "real weakpoint" or not, it is doing WAY too much damage to give us any breathing room to do anything else.

I think either taking out its other arm (remember, the arm we have destroyed has NOT grown back; the doll has merely shoved a weapon into the stump) or its head is the way to go.
Destroying parts of the doll that have been separated from the main body has so far been the only thing that has really done any lasting damage (note that the doll's roll bonus STILL remains lower than what it originally was).
Thankfully, Homura took out a good number of the "support hands" that came from the buildings, so that is one less thing to worry about.

Well, it looks to me like we might need to approach this with trial and error. There is so much we might know but we are speculating. Is the doll that important? Is the audience? There's the fact that the ground itself is part of the witch. Whether or not the doll is following a program or ballstotheWall is controlling it, it should have the witch's priorities in mind. Let's find out what is most important to it.
[X] Everyone break, assign a job to each girl.
Akane, punch something really hard to rock the boat.
Homura, exit the stage and leave the audience behind.
Kyouko, center stage, stand there look pretty, and carry a big stick.
We will just mingle with the audience.
-[x] Watch what the doll does. What gets its attention. Does it become distracted? How does this make it feel? Everyone be prepared to MOVE at a moments notice.
If we are playing with rules then we need to learn them. What makes this doll tick? TODAY IS THE DAY PEOPLE.

That would be a cool idea, except the doll is actually pretty fast. There is a high chance the doll will get to one of the girls, disrupting this plan.

Come to think of it, Homura is actually pretty good at being the aggro/distractor thanks to her time stop + jumping around. However, based on what she said earlorr, it does seem like this will wear her out if she keeps it up for too long, so we can't have her doing it for long stretches of time.

I say go for the other arm first. Both arms gone seem like it would be a notable setback for it.

Then we can see about either going for the head or seeing how it reacts to us not "playing along" with the "theme".

[x] Join Kyoko in engaging the doll. Switch back in forth with her on tanking the doll, and wave rends when it's not paying attention to us. Focus on taking out the remaining hand.
[x] Ako, Ran, and Chou should run around the city to find a way to the central gear from the earlier stage. While looking, take out any hands that Homura may have missed.
[x] Yuri and Kagura should stay away from the melee. Suppress the doll using ranged attacks.
[x] Akane stays back, and waits until we can open up the doll or cut off the other hand. Destroy the hand ASAP if we cut it off.
[x] Suggest that Homura keep a close eye on the doll, and relay any detail that might clue us in on how to defeat the witch.

Careful about micro managing too much. Is there some way to phrase these as ideas instead of commands?

Something like this?

[x] Try, with Kyouko, to cut he other doll´s arm. Use waverends and rending blade when you get close enough to the doll
[x] Tokyo search for the central gear and destroy remaning hands. Yuri team up with Akane
[x] Try to sneak Akane behind the doll with Yuri´s powers
-[x] If they are sucessful all on pincer attack
[x] Ask Homura for intel and to be prepared for an emergency evac.

Edit: I think that keepeing our best DPS in reserve is really a waste

[x] Split Tokyo in two teams, one to find the central gear the and to kill the remaning hands the other to cover us with distance attacks
[x] Akane stays in reserve, attack if we manage to get an opening
[x] Ask Homura for intel and to be prepared for an urgency evac

Much better.

One thing though, since we are playing as Sayaka, we can (and are expected to) give a bit more detail for her actions.

So maybe for Sayaka's actions, something like:

[] Try, with Kyouko, to cut he other doll´s arm
-[] With Wave Rends, Wave Rend slashes (don't remember what they are actually called) if you get close enough
-[] Explosive swords if a good opportunity arises and no one is around to take friendly fire
-[] Keep your guard up, be prepared to dodge if needed (this line might not be needed)

EDIT: Probably a bit long, but hopefully gives some ideas about how to be more specific.

The rest looks fine. We can ask for some people to look for the central gear, but I wouldn't worry too much about getting that in for this vote.

EDIT2:
Voting for this because it is the best I've seen so far. But can we get a vote tally?

Pray to your gods, everyone: it's impolite to show up unannounced. Here's hoping we can get somewhere with this.

I forgot we had so many players on the field, but I don't fear the doll as much as I do Moid. I want to find out what is wrong here and it sounds to me that staying the course is not good for the quests health (understatement).
