SayakaQuest Thread 10: Glory To The Death

Because just rushing in always works @Ugolino . Remember when we tried that against the Aeromancer meguca of the T6? That's right, we were murdered rather rapidly. And trying the same thing against an opponent immeasurably more powerful than her seems destined for nothing but failure and a restart.

Everyone's lives are on the line, we're tired, we know the consequences of failure..
You also seem to be ignoring the consequences of success. Suppose, for a moment, that "just stabbing it" worked. We then have a city full of normal people falling out of the sky, killing most of them. Congratulations. What was that about consequences?

And because history seems to be getting forgotten:

[x] "Yeah, that's right."
[x] The time for talking ended when her group attacked. And when she crippled Homura.
[x]'Kyouko! Get Homura out of here.'
[x]Advance on her, shield first. Do not boost. Just move forwards with the shield.

"What in the..." You shake your head. "Nevermind." You grip your sword. "I'm done talking."

She pauses again...before she brings a hand out. "...If that's the case...then I guess that I am, too." A sword that's twice as long as she is tall forms in her hand. It looks like a windsail, with a blade that's detached from the handle. She raises it above her head. "Goodbye."

*facepalm*

We should have kept talking. We could have bought time to come up with a plan or atleast heal Homu. Come on SB, THINK.

Hahahaha that's funny because it'll never happen. And I'll take advantage of it every. Single. Time.

Clearly, a curtsy is the superior tactical option. Clearly.
No, you're right, that's stupid. I think we've settled on saluting.

[x] Salute in return.
[x] Keep defense boosted for now.
[x] Test out its defenses.

Still not not sold on the speech. If Walpurgisnacht's interested in dialog she can do a villain monologue first.

Yea, curtsey and bowing puts Sayaka at way to much risk, especially given that she is decked out in armor and shield, which would likely make such actions awkward.

If we must return the "respect" I think nothing beyond a simple nod of the head is appropriate and safe.

EDIT: even saluting is pushing it, as that occupies a hand, even if it is only for a second or so, but wouldn't be anywhere near as bad as bowing and curtseying.

...Haruko was a witch now? We're here to kill Walpurgisnacht, and that is going to mean stabbing the doll. Unless you want to try diplomacy? :V

A curtsey or bow is out of character and an all-around stupid thing to do in any situation, especially this one. Thinking is not stabbing the audience for a stage-oriented Witch. Brain damage is expecting it to somehow appreciate us doing some pointless natter.

No, Haruko was a powerful opponent, just as Walpurgis is, that was ignored on the presumption that "hit it more" was a sound strategy.

I dunno I feel like showing this thing respect in front of Homura would be kind of a bad idea.
However, getting everyone on the same page regarding how we approach this is good. Fanhunter696 had an addition for telepathy, but that leaves out the Tokyo girls.

How should the comment be phrased? Can maybe drop the Hamlet speech, as Torgamus notes, and speak to the other MGs instead. Something like:

[] To the group: Seems it wants us to put on a good show. Be cautious; it still has the whole city hostage.
[] Salute in return, then slowly circle.
[] Keep defense boosted for now.
[] Test out its defenses.

maybe?

Kinematics has a really good point here in trying to play along, but it´s very different to interrrupt a speech to start one ourselves, If we had a plan, and we keep her distratcted while our parters position themselves, it would be different, so instead of a full speech, I think a something simpler would be better
Edit. Something like this

[] To the group: Seems it wants us to put on a good show. Be cautious; it still has the whole city hostage.
[] Salute in return, then slowly circle.
-[] To Walpurgis: Shall we dance, my lady?
[] Keep defense boosted for now.
[] Test out its defenses.

That looks a bit better. Still, showing it respect seems... problematic in front of Homura. I can agree that an alpha strike seems foolish here.
[X] To group: Don't jump on it just yet; we don't know what it's capable of, yet.
[X] Circle slowly, keeping defense boosted.
[X] Test its defenses.

Eh... I dunno. It's an enemy, sure, but it's still only an obstacle to Homura's true goals. Homura has never seemed to have any specific emotional attachment to it, swearing vengeance against it or other such silliness. Given our knight theme, and the context of the situation, I really can't see Homura objecting to it.

[X] Return the curtsy
[X] All out attack
[X] Anything and everything we've got. Wave rends, rending blades, offensive blade blocks, combo attacks with the others if we get a chance to.
[X] Try aiming for it's joints if we can.

[jk] Ask for an autograph

[X] Return the curtsy

[jk] Act as a renowned theatre critic
[jk] demand the best seats in the house and a programme on the current play
[jk] demand to meet the play wright and/or composer to interview/critic them of the current state of the performance

[jk] Be the composer
[jk] With a sweep of your arm, summon an orchestra to play appropriate battle epic music
[jk] Charge

[X] All out attack
[X] Anything and everything we've got. Wave rends, rending blades, offensive blade blocks, combo attacks with the others if we get a chance to.

So...I guess that's all for the debate?

I'm not sure that there's anything else we can decide without more information, and there's not much we can do to get more information at the moment. I'd still like to have a better idea of what's going on with the humans in the surrounding areas, but it probably won't be much different from what we've already seen.

There is no positive outcome to playing this fuck's game.
